SKILL POINTS AND 7 INT!

Rules Questions

If I have a barbarian and he has 7 Int would the negative 2 affect the amount of skill points I get from my base. So 4 base - 2 Int = 2 skill points per level.

Correct.

There is a limitation so you always get 1 per level so a barbarian gets (4-2) 2 skill points and a fighter or cleric gets (2-2) 1 skill point.

Humans then add one more to this total assuming they did not trade away skilled.

Yes, to a minimum of 1 skill point per level.

From the CRB:

"You apply your character's Intelligence modifier to:
The number of skill points gained each level, though your character always gets at least 1 skill point per level."

Indeed. A huamn fighter with 7 int ends up with 2 skill points.

Why? Because fighters have 2 skill points per level. A 7 int subtracts 2. But you always get a minimum of 1 skill point, and being human gives you an extra. For a human fighter, there almost isn't a reason not to dump int and charisma.

Though I would certainly be dumping cha before int.

If you want to use maneuvers other than bull rush or sunder, or if you want to get whirlwind attack there is.

AKA If you're playing a Lore Warden Martial Master.

I do forget about that. Mostly because for home games I run I have literally removed Combat Expertise as a prereq from almost absolutely everything.

I think there was maybe one feat that I thought it made sense for so I left it as a prereq. I strongly wish Paizo would do the same, and encourage other GMs to do so on their own.

Or a reach tripper.

Frankly - I never dump Int just because I can't stand the idea of playing a moron. (I mean that in the original sense of having an IQ of 50-70ish :P)

Int 7 doesn't mean IQ of 50-70.

The Village Idiot has an int of 4.

Int score does not translate to IQ in this game. He's definitely not bright with int 7, but he's not mentally handicapped either.

Possibly. It's debatable. But just because the 'Village Idiot' is dumber - doesn't mean that Int 7 ISN'T mentally handicapped. (If you go by Int x 10 = ballpark IQ, Int 4 would make him an old school Imbecile as Imbecile was IQ 26-50ish. :P)

But no - I mostly said that to be sarcastic. Though I still don't like to play characters who are slow - even if not to the point of being handicapped.

i would only add that the minimum of 1 skill point no matter how low int yo ugot is BEFORE human\fev class extra skill rank.
so a human fighter with 3 int that has fighter as fev class an dpick to take a skill rank for fev class bonus will get 3 skill ranks each level.

It seems to imply in a politically correct way that he is though...
