Gamemaster Zedth |

Greetings!
We have a really great game going since July 2014. It is an epic adventure in my homebrew world of Atma.
We recently lost a player, a ranger. The party is pretty well rounded but we wanted to open recruiting for a 5th party member.
Character creation guidelines:
-Level 5
-20 point buy
-no Evil
-2 traits
-Some backstory; read the "factions of note" and "places of note" spoilers in the campaign tab for ideas. Include in your story a unique "turning point" arc in your character's life when they received a magic ring, a gift from the gods. Your background doesn't have to be a novel, but it should have some flavor.
-Preferably classic races, but I will entertain ideas if presented well.
-Anything from CRB, APG, UM, UC, ACG will be acceptable (with the exception of summoners and gunslingers.)
-No 3rd party materials
-Average wealth/level 5 = 10,500 gp (buy what you want, all magic item purchases will have to be approved before play) (All of my players have a unique divine-gifted ring that gives various powers, once of which is resistance bonuses. Keep that in mind when purchasing magic items.)
The party currently consists of:
-Human Invulnerable Rager Barbarian
-Human Wizard
-Dwarf Cleric of Moradin
-Halfling Bard
I encourage you to read the campaign tab and some of our gameplay to see if you would fit in and would enjoy taking part in our epic. I look forward to hearing from you!

I've got a Tiefling rogue/shadowdancer mostly together on paper. My experience for PbP isn't much, but I've been playing since 2nd Edition and currently run 2 live campaigns including one homebrew that takes place in a world I've created. If I've got a couple days I can get you a background and build by the end of the weekend. Probably sooner.

Ven'Jar |

Here's the Tiefling Rogue as promised. I've still got some numbers to post and work out, but that's mostly worked out. Hopefully I can get the crunch in his profile by tomorrow night. There is a solid rough draft background in his profile though.
I know his avatar is a drow, but I liked the shadowy look since he's working toward Shadowdancer Prestige Class.
I welcome any comments, suggestions, and criticisms. Thanks for reading.

Tyeal |

For a character concept, I'd like to offer up Brock Manthrow, a Dwarven Ranger that's lived his entire life above ground.

Adakos Telthan |

Posting Adakos for your review. A lad from a somewhat questionable background rife with problems and challenges, he's taken up the quest to right his wrongs and become a better man. If he can accomplish the task though remains to be seen!
Had to take some liberties with the background without a ton to work with, but hopefully it all fits without being too much out of whack. Smaller details can be reorganized or changed of course if better options fit the campaign itself.
Thank you for your consideration!

Gamemaster Zedth |

Completed (or mostly completed) submissions so far:
-Wicker One-Shot the tiefling sniper rogue
-Adakos Telthan the half-elf skirmisher ranger
-Ven'Jar the tiefling rogue.
I like all of them. I think any one of you would be a neat addition. I'll keep this recruitment open for a couple/few more days for the few people above who "dotted" and/or for anyone new who might be interested.
-Brock Manthrow still needs some work. He'll need leveling up to 5 and a his back story tailored just a bit to the realm. (see campaign tab for ideas/hooks.)

The mage watched, amongst the crowd, while some brave, daring souls stepped forward, answering to god’s challenge. The promise of glory, the dread of a world at its ending time. Demons running wild on good folk's lands, killing, taking, subjugating and there was no one to step on their path.
The Consortium of light, humanity last hope, was a group of squabbling old geezers, trying to blame each other for things they did not had any control over. Resurrecting centuries old petty fights, trying to earn any profit while they were still losing the war, in complete ignorance of enemy’s prowess and how final situation was.
Therefore, she just watched and waited, hoping any other brave soul would step forward, to answer destiny's call.
She needed allies, to save the one she loved, the only one she was not able to abandon.
However, time was running short. God wasn't known for being merciful and patient. Everyone has heard the call; few were the brave ones to answer it.

Ven'Jar |

The demon stepped out of the shadows advancing on its next prey. As the traveler turned to face his attacker he saw a figure step out of the shadows. No that's not right. . . the shadows seemed to step with the figure and in an instant the demon was consumed by the shadows themselves. A moment later the they demon lay fallen. The traveler got a glimpse of the face of his savior. It wasn't human but almost demonic. The figure gave him an almost imperceptible nod and vanished back into the shadows.

Gromff Hammerhand |

"I am a cleric o Moradin and I stand on the front lines to take the enemies swings while me companions blow em away. Course that durned fool barbarian keeps gettin hit so I have ta waste precious magic ta keep the fool up and swinging. Moradin knows he hits harder than a drunken ogre. I prepare mostly defensive magics and those to pierce the devil's foul defenses. That enough for ya lass."

![]() |

”Tell them Gromff, about that time when we were supposed to keep a low profile but you couldn’t keep to yourself a few hours without drinking and almost exposing us!” she says in a half attempt to be angry.
”I’ll not even mention Roland, gods! There’s so much I could point out that, it’s a surprise we are alive ‘till now. If it were up to him, we would be on the dragon’s mouth already. I think he want to choke it to the death!” she says now clearly angry.
Surprisingly, no bad things about Miro… Oh wait… ”That dammed Halfling kept calling me love while I had to run for my life, while carrying him and jumping out of the window…” the young woman complains...
Also, don’t mind me, I love to pick a fight with the others. :P

Gamemaster Zedth |

As you folks can see, we have a group who gets into character and loves to have fun.
I'm closing recruitment very soon, so I wanted to bump the thread one more time in case anyone out there still wants to apply and/or finish up their character concepts. I encourage anyone to come apply and try us out if you're up for something non-standard, something outside of Golarian.
Right now we only have 3 completed applicants:
-Wicker One-Shot the tiefling sniper rogue
-Adakos Telthan the half-elf skirmisher ranger
-Ven'Jar the tiefling rogue.

Adakos Telthan |

Drinking, you heard it...there's drinking...let's go!
"Pull yourself together man! We aren't heading down that road again, and you know it. That's a dark place you know, with nothing but empty pockets and headaches to show for the journey," said the man eyeing the spectacle before him. "Just think, its been nearly a month now, and we don't miss it!"
But we doooo...
Did you hear the other one? Dragons? Dragons?! You realize that this hero stuff is for people who have steel in their bones and ice running through their veins right?
Coward, always have been. I told you there is no sense in this. They were all right you know, you will always be a failure. Now why don't we just amble along and find a nice tavern while we are here? You've got some coin there in your pocket.
Quiet! I'm done with it I tell you. No more! The way has been made clear. This Consortium has the answers, they know what needs to be done. It must end!
<snickering>
With a deep gulp the otherwise nondescript man strode forward into the city. With nothing to lose he steeled himself for what would lie ahead, fully aware that each day would be a blessing.

Razza Kolvir |

Karla laughed heartily and put an arm around the dwarf. "Excellent! I believe we will get along quite well, Hammerhand. Though I have little expertise in doing damage, I believe you will appreciate my abilities to cripple a foe; nothing may stand before the might of Gorum, and it is my job to put them on their knees."
Character sheet and bio/personality are done. Let me know if there are any errors or if you have any other comments to make.

Ven'Jar |

Making eye contact with the wizard and giving her a slight wink Ven'Jar silently walks up behind the dwarf. Ven slightly taps the pouch on the belt of the dwarf with his tail. The dwarf feels a slight tug as if a pouch is lifted from his belt. When he goes to check, nothing is missing, but when he looks up his tankard is gone and a cloaked figure is sitting on his right with what looks like a tankard of dwarven ale in front of him. A closer look reveals his red skin, and what might be horns on his head, hidden by the cloak. On his left arm is a buckler with a familiar "X" painted on it. Ven, feeling the glare of the dwarf looks right at the wizard, takes a sip from the tankard, "That's a mighty big sword for a magic user. It looks like you've seen quite a bit of battle, yet you all have jovial air about you. It's refreshing in a time like this. I'm a bit lost in my quest and need some direction. I've made it a long way by myself, but it's only a matter of time before my luck runs out. It's not often I approach strangers," Actually, I think this is a first for me. but you seem like we're heading down the same path. I'll earn my keep, and then some if you'll have me. For now I'm going to turn in." Ven takes one last gulp, finishing the ale. "Thanks for the drink, dwarf. I owe you one. He walks away.

Roland, just Roland |

"Call me fool once more, dwarf, and I'll start acting like one. And I bet you're not gonna like it." He is so busy returning the glare of the wizard that he didn't noticed the red skinned guy talking to Gromff. Oh, that would need quite some explanation. But he's more worried about his own deal with the crazy mage than with newcomers. "At least the dragon would want to swallow me, but I don't think he could stand you, skinny!"

Wicker One-Shot |

Being unnoticed was something that Wicker did well. It allowed him a rare opportunity to observe another tiefling dealing with more normal people. And steal a dwarf's mug.
"I'm not evil...I'm just drawn that way."
Wicker snickered. "Your artist has a wicked stroke to him. Silence hung from one hand, the darkwood crossbow loaded, as ever. Like I have room to talk...Without my hat I look as evil as him. Well, blue, so maybe less. "There are things that can fix that look of you, you know. Things that can help people take you by your actions instead of your appearance." The statement was in a friendly tone, directed to the other tiefling.

Adakos Telthan |

Just a notice:
Unfortunately, our kind DM had a personal issue and will be away from forums for about a week.
Please, those who already applied, please understand and have a little patience.
For those still interested, take this time and opportunity to make your application.
C'yall soon.
Admittedly I have been brushing up on your gameplay thread to get an understanding of the setting and the players within the word, so I saw his post. My condolences go out to Zedth and his family. Losing a loved one is no small thing and I can only imagine his challenges at the moment. I'm not going anywhere, and hopefully he takes as much time as is needed.

Well, during the day ideas have started to solidify.
It's a rough draft of a background but here is the concept:
As I do not have a name yet, I shall call him Inquisitor X, makes it easier than constantly having to write descriptive terms.
Inquisitor X was a human hunter and follower of Erastil (profession, not the class ;)) who used to be part of a small town. He helped provide food and protection for his community by hunting the various creatures that lived in the forest nearby.
At some point the village came under the control of the World Order and although they were cruel, as long as the villagers did their part, provide tribute in the form of food and other commodities, they were mostly left to their own devices. Inquisitor X did his part, spending long hours in the woods gathering what he could so that they would have enough food to live and to pay the tribute.
This continued for some years, but the representatives of the World Order got greedy and demanded more tributes. Inquisitor X knew that if he hunted even more, eventually the wild life would not be able to recuperate from this. The thought of just killing and/or driving the World Order out of his village crossed his mind, but he knew they would strike back in retribution.
In desperation he prayed to Erastil for guidance. A magnificent Stag appeared in the forest and led Inquisitor X to a small natural spring in which he found a beautiful ring. He picked it up and when he held it in hand he was blessed with divine power.
Over the next few days, he rooted out the members of the World Order from his village and tasked the community to send the World Order after him if they would ever return to claim the village once more, hoping they would spare the village as it was an act of one "crazy" hunter.
He left his community and several months later found out there was a bounty placed on his head. He cared little for this as had become the embodiment of the Hunt. His prey? The members of the World Order and their puppet masters, the Devils from Hell.
It is like this that he has traveled for several years now striking targets of opportunity. He eventually joined the Consortium of Light, knowing that there is strength in numbers and they eventually have the same goal.
On the crunch side of things:
He would be a human Inquisitor of Erastil
taking point-blank shot, precise shot, rapid shot & extended bane as hit feats
Either going for the Recovery Inquisition (for the finding/tracking aspect of the hunt) or the Zeal Inquisition (to indicate his conviction)
I have a question concerning items. I was looking at the bracers of falcon's aim but I've heard the pricing isn't really right for the item, so I was wondering how much it would cost/if it would be allowed. Otherwise I'll probably spend the 4000 GP on a stat-boosting item so it will not make that much difference on the rest of my gear.
Thoughts? Suggestions? (Not good in naming villages so help is also appreciated there and whereabouts it might be situated.)
Should possibly be capable of finishing crunch rather quickly, but I don't have time for it anymore today.
[edit:]Question about feats, are teamwork feats from the Ranged Tactics Toolbox allowed as they have several that would benefit a ranged character like my inquisitor, mainly due to the Solo tactics ability. Examples : Friendly fire maneuvers and Volley Fire[/edit]

Will you guys be interested in taking on a newbie to PbP (and I guess also as a PC)? I've been a GM for nearly 2 years now, but I still have not played as a PC because of my group's demands. Was thinking of digging out the Magus that's been stored in my mental locker.
+ 1
In my case, I've DM'ed for several years, before having the opportunity to play it myself.
--
Anyway, I don’t think that Zedth mind newbies, you should just take in mind that our group likes to role play and get into character. Which also means that the characters fight a lot.
Well, actually, the mage fights a lot, since I keep pestering everyone else in the group. :P
that’s only possible because we know it isn’t personal, just role play, and we know enough to don’t take that step which will turn a friendly fight into a pvp between players. Aside from that, newbies are more than welcome.
You should ready the world information on campaign tab, and try to integrate your character into the campaign settings, as requested and you should be fine.
Apart from that, welcome to Paizo boards, hope you have lots of funs. :)

Heh heh... Sounds like what my players do right now. It'd be nice to be the one in the funfest rather than watch with helplessness as it escalates (my group tends to get really close to PK, with one fight bringing someone down within 1 point of being dead).
I'm thinking of a human Cavalier spec'd for ranged combat. I'll work on the crunch tomorrow, but I think he'll be the Luring archetype.
Then one day, while he was out hunting, he found a wrecked caravan with all of it's passengers dead. Well, almost dead. A young girl, couldn't be older than 12, lay there dying, half of her torn off. She struggled to say something, but she wasn't able to. All she managed was pass a ring into his hands before she stopped moving. The ring was a curiosity to him, as it had a strange x-shaped mark on it, almost like the banner of the Consortium of Light. Then something just clicked. He had no reason to stay here anymore, everyday was the same, just survive. Given a reason to leave, he took what little he had and charged out to find the Consortium, in hopes they had information about this strange ring the little girl was so desperate to pass on.
Let me know if the background needs a little shaping up. I left some open ended bits so the GM can fiddle around with as necessary to fit into the story.

hp: 8 + 4d8 + 5 ⇒ 8 + (7, 4, 6, 7) + 5 = 37
[edit:]With that, my character should be mostly finished. All that is left is giving him an actual name & filling in the details (name/location) in the background draft I had written previously in this topic + some equipment, but that shouldn't be a problem.
Crunch & background can be currently found under this alias. Will make a new alias if I get selected.
Thoughts, comments, feedback are appreciated as always.

Gamemaster Zedth |

Hello everyone,
Looks like we have at least one more applicant. Everyone is looking great and this will be a tough choice. Thanks to everyone who applied.
I will send a PM to the person who is chosen sometime this weekend, and hopefully we can get that person assimilated into the gameplay starting sometime next week. (possibly Monday).

Theorythmus |

Welcome back Zedth, hope everything is ok.
Updated my sheet a bit. He now has a name and I also realized I had forgotten the human skill bonus, so he now has a few extra skillpoints added in.
