Brine Banshee's Grave Con Check?

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

One of the scenario effects for Brine Banshee's Grave (AD3) is that, if you explore, you have to succeed at a con or fort 6 check or bury 1d4-1 cards from your hand. Yikes! Siwar might be staying on the ship for this one :o. My questions about this effect are:

1) Do you have to check for each explore you do; i.e. if I discard blessings to make multiple explorations do I have to make the check each time?

and

2)When do I make the check? Assume it is right before I reset my hand and end my turn..

I'd put the exact card wording, but not sure if that violates any policies.

Thanks,

Bones

I'd say....

1. You do it once if you explore, no matter how many times you explore on the turn.
1 exploration = 1 application of the effect. 2 explorations = 1 application of the effect.

2. The scenario says "Before you reset your hand". So yeah, at the end of your turn, after you've applied "End of the turn effects" but before you reset your hand, you make the check if you've explored that turn.

So empty your hand if the check is in doubt ...

As in discard all of your hand, rather than bury them??

How do most characters play/survive this scenario?

No, as the end-of-turn check to bury would happen before the opportunity to discard.

I usually use a ship that allows me to discard blessings from the blessing deck to explore so as to maximize opportunities to empty my hand before the end of turn and minimize the number of turns per character.

Thank you, makes sense. I won the scenario, but only because I hit the Shipwreck Henchman on the first turn of the first character turn, which I made sure I won the check, and it turned out that the Villain was n that location. That allowed me a chance to permanently close two location and temp-close the other two, while my fighter took on the double combat check (and again, he rolled a 2 on the pre-check loss of cards, so he only lost 1 card, otherwise that would have been a problem).
