I need a cool way for a human NPC to live a long time (longer than a typical human, that is). The NPC will be some sort or wizard or sorcerer, so a spell is a perfectly exceptable solution (in fact, I think there *is* a spell that does this, but I can't seem to find it ...)
Other ideas might be a sorcerer bloodline arcana or power, an archetype power etc.
Thanks!!!

Sun orchid elixir is the common way.
20th level alchemists can stop aging as a Grand Discovery.

What is the NPC like? In terms of power, alignement, role in the story. Having said that:
1. Lichdom
2. Immortality arcane discovery (wizard lv 20)
3. Not being a human (just being an elf does the trick, or even a half elf. Maybe a half elf that is very human in appearance)
Do you need to be alive longer than humans? Or do you just need to look younger than humans (respecting normal lifespan). If this is the case, then
4. Youtfhul appearance (spell in UM)
5. The above spell coupled with age resistance (by the spells or the mantle of immortality)
6. Timeless body (druid or monk). Or a similar-working ability, such as a ritual or rare spell (which may not even exist in the game now. You are the GM, you've got the power)
Hope that helped

Perhaps one of the "false paths" of immortality, such as discovering the means to prolong your life by excessive hibernating sleep? A sort of mystic Rip Van Winkle trance that allows you to avoid aging should you deeply sleep?

I'd really like this NPC to be a human, so longer-lived races like half-elf are out unfortunately.
I'm looking for him to actually live longer than a typical human, not just look younger than he actually is.
Like I mentioned, I was sure there was a spell somewhere that does this, but I can't seem to find it ...
Is there a magic item maybe?

Reincarnate? :D (obvious bias)
You could be a reincarnate druid and it takes care of itself, or have others reincarnate him
he could alter self himself back into a human form, or reincarnate roulette till he became human again.
other people have mentioned the normal paths to eternal youth, timeless body.
Good ol' fashioned Wish spell would probably work. "I wish to be young again" if you really, really don't want a spell caster, perhaps the guy happened into a Ring of Three Wishes, which he uses right before the end of his life, might be 300 years old or so at that rate.
alot of outsides (genies, pitfiends) get the ability to grant wishes, so perhaps he struck a deal or saved their life, or is an incredibly powerful planar binder

Maybe he spent a lot of time in a faerie realm where there is no ageing, or time just passes at a different rate? Maybe he actually goes there every winter, just because he doesn't like the cold. That'll extend your life by 25% easily, assuming you don't fall afoul of faerie intrigue.
He might be a Reincarnated druid. Reincarnation actually gives you a new young adult body. But it might be of another race. Still, it's one of the few practical ways to become younger.
Maybe he's found a necromancy spell to steal someone else's youth?
He could have a Picture of Dorian Grey style deal going on; someone/something else doing the ageing for him.
Maybe he's got alien technology to use nanoreconstruction to rejuvenate his body?
Maybe he switches to younger clones now and then?
Maybe he's reborn periodically, and as he reaches adulthood he starts to recall past life memories?
Maybe he switches bodies with young people? He could have a "give me your firstborn when he reaches adulthood" kind of deal that he uses to make it somewhat legal, even?

It depends on how the GM adjudicates wish spells. Personally, I limit a wish to reverting the character to the start of the previous age category: Venerable to Old, Old to Middle Age, Middle Age to Adult (or even Adult to Young; but I handle young characters slightly differently than Ultimate Campaign). Multiple wishes can't adjust the age category more than one step beyond the "actual" one (i.e., a Venerable character can't use wishes to become younger than Old). This still allows them to live without fear of dying from old age (as long as they can afford the 25,000 gp every 15 to 87 years or so), but doesn't make other sources of "immortality" that much less desirable/valuable.

1) Learn Craft Wondrous Item, and decent have Spellcraft.
2) Create a Salve of the Second Chance (fun fact, making the item is cheaper than casting the spell)
3) Commission a Homunculus with you as the master
3b) Add nice abilities if gold is available, 500 gp for effectively constant Undetectable Alignment might be worth it if you don't want others to catch on (tax fraud reasons probably), or Dream Feast if you want to minimize food expenses (we're playing the long game here)
3c) Create a Pathfinder's Pouch for your Homunculus and Salve to hide in for a very long time
4) Have the Homunculus recognize when you die through telepathy, hop out, quickly chop off some hair, hop back into the bag, and say the command word to close the opening
4b) Hope that you weren't killed by a death effect or a necromancer
5) Have the Homunculus use the salve on your body part after a day or two has passed
6) Hope that luck is on your side for your new body (or kill yourself, controlled death isn't a big problem, just remember to do it during a full moon)
7) Spend ~2.5k on Restoration
8) Enjoy your new life!
9) Repeat steps 2-8. You are immortal as long as you avoid necromancers, just your body might change every 80-600 years, you'll just need to raise ~3.5k + living costs each life, shouldn't be hard for someone with Magic.
Using Greater Create Demiplane and permanency to create a timeless Demiplane is another way, but the NPC might have a trouble leaving the plane after a couple decades.

Voluntarily reading a Sepia Snake Sigil leaves you asleep for about a week, without ageing. And Shadow Conjuration makes it free.
