Sorcerer weapon as arcane bond instead of familiar? Anyway?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

One of my players is downright determined he wants to be a dragon blood sorcerer who is the direct son of a dragon almost as a arrogant draconic prince, which i thought was a pretty good idea, a lawful evil but noble demon archtype, the kind of character that talks about how evil they are and how powerful they want to become, but by the end are more good guys than bad and just have a attitude, starting off fairly cruel and merciless but slowly being changed by the friends they have surrounded themselves with.

Now I approve of this, I have confidence in this roleplayer to pull it off as he is probably the best roleplayer in my group and its ambitious and i like ambitious.

But they want to have a sword, sort of like a arcane warrior, while staying true to the sorcerer bloodlines and such, and i have seen a few ways of doing this but they are often convoluted, and iv found that there are ways of sorcerers getting magical familiars but is there anyway they can get a Arcane bonded weapon instead?

We have talked about the Tattooed sorcerer build which lets you have a familiar tattooed into your body, but as far as I can tell its only familiars not swords and items.. which sucks, i mean I cant see why not, instead of a squirm or lizard tattoo why not a sword you can summon right out of your skin?

Anyway, if there are any less round about ways to have a sorcerer using a arcane bonded weapon than id love to talk it over, If all else fails i might just allow him to do tattooed sorcerer with a arcane bonded weapon instead of familiar as a houserule, but i really hate going outside the lore of the world...

Is there a way to gain something from a second bloodline? I have a nagging feeling that there is. Is so, using the Arcane bloodline select the arcane bond option, and choose a weapon.

What about using the Eldritch Heritage feat? I don't see anything in RAW that prohibits a sorcerer following this line to pick up extra sorcerer abilities (though, I may be missing something).

He could take this feat, choose Arcane, and then unlock the Arcane Bond ability.

There are two ways you could do this. You could use the Crossblooded archetype to get two bloodlines, or you could use the Eldritch Heritage feat to gain the 1st level bloodline power of the arcane bloodline. The latter is probably the better pick, as I really wouldn't recommend Crossblooded.

With that said, bonded items are terrible for Sorcerers. You get one extra spell slot at the cost of being functionally incapable of casting at all without your weapon drawn. If you really want the cheap enchantments on the sword it might be worthwhile, but IMO this is a liability and not an actual benefit.

Does it have to be a Bonded Weapon? Why can't he just have a magic sword?

And if you like the idea so much as well, why don't you just houserule it for him?

And a third thing, the Dragon Disciple Prestige Class seems right up his alley if he wants to swing a sword as a Sorcerer, so maybe suggest it to him if he's not already thinking about it.

I wanna ask how devoted he is to being a full spell caster because draconic bloodrager would make that magic sword mean something (and eldritch heritage arcane for a bonded weapon).

You could just let him craft an Intelligent magic weapon that gets surly whenever he's wielded by someone else.

A weapon that is intelligent and communicates telepathially with him fits the flavor better than a Bonded Item in the current mechanics anyway.

Either that, or ask him if he'd prefer a Bladebound Magus, who gets his Black Blade.
