Consensus on Accents

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Hello everyone. So I looked over a quick scan of the search function and found people asking questions about accents from different regions of Golarion, and I was wondering if anyone ever compiled a guide on how to speak in appropriate accents for various regions.

Playing Skull & Shackles, there are a few times they mention characters have specific accents. Fishguts has a "Shackles" accent, which I assume is heavy pirate jargon, while one of the NPCs you meet has a Taldor accent. I'd imagine Chelish accent would sound british, considering they mirror imperial england, especially in regards to the Shackles. NOt sure about Taldan?
Varisian?
Ustalavic?
White Witches?

Shackles accent should be closed to Créole. Cheliax is close to Spain so Chelish accent should be more latin, and Taldan accent more british.

other accents :
Varisian = gypsy
Ustalavic = east european
Irrisen = russian

Creole, huh? that's certainly interesting. Never thought of tha, but it makes total sense. Why would you consider Cheliax spanish?

Cheliax is often compared to Imperial Spain. I think they more closely match Imperial Britain. So a British Accent would be best. Also fits the Pirate setting better really.

Taldar is very obviously the Byzantine Empire so I imagine Taldan would be a Greek accent.

Noir is right about the others though.

Every single Andoran has a Texas drawl when I run them. It must be.

I'm convinced that anyone from Galt should speak with an outrageous French accent. Vive la révolution!

The Exchange

I always played taldans with an Italian accent what with all the family pride and infighting and insults.

Dark Archive

You could also do Cheliax as Russian or German. There really is no consensus.
