Actually Theryon, I'm not entirely sure the discard for a draw wouldn't be allowed. That one seems more to me like a "The rule is there, it works unless specified otherwise". I don't know anyone that actually owns one so it hasn't come up, but I don't think it quite falls under the same category as things like a shirt reroll.

That's what I'm saying though, does it really need an official OK? To me, Organized Play basically says "follow the rules of PACG, additions and exceptions are in the guide". Adding something that isn't already OK in PACG (like a shirt reroll) would need a specific OK to be allowed, because it isn't already acceptable to use in PACG. However, something that already is allowed in PACG (the mat discard / draw) would need to be specified that it is NOT OK to use, because it is already allowed in the game.

Isn't there an issue with the fact that 75% of the characters in OP don't have playmats (yet)? Seems unfair, unless you modify the rule that any playmat gives any character the discard/draw ability.
The mat, though it has specific characters on them, doesn't need to be an exact match to use them. Just actually having the mat allows the discard.

I'm with Andrew here; I don't see a reason to disallow the mat discard and draw in Organized Play, unlike the shirt reroll it's not a construct of Pathfinder Society.
As for which mat to use; I initially assumed you needed the mat for the matching character, though reading it again the wording is poor. I'd expect the intent is matching character, but unless that's clarified I guess any mat would do. (If it is clarified to require a match, I'd suggest just requiring the class to match, so that anyone with the S&S base mat set is set for OP unless they unlocked Jirelle).

To be clear, I actually agree with Theryon here. I think it needs to be clarified in the OP Guide, just the same as ancillary products are in the PFS Guide. Not that I feel it shouldn't be allowed. I just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed it, and to bring it to Tanis & Vic's attention.
And I'm 90% sure that the rule will be that any mat works.

Correct
Tanis O'Connor wrote:Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'll make sure the next version of the guide has something about this. For now, tell 'em I said the shirt allows a reroll of one die and you need a mat of the same class as your character. So Wu Shen uses Merisiel's mat.
FYI, I broadened the latter to be any official play mat, regardless of class.
