Someone said that the Star Wars fans are among the most devoted of all the fandoms. They got the awesome episode IV and V, they got KOTOR, they got the Thrawn trilogy, and they got The Force Unleashed. The rest has been... less than spectacular. On these, they have subsisted for time out of sodding mind...
I'm not a huge fan of the animated series THE CLONE WARS, but I still feel it deserves a spot as a good Star Wars related product that the fandom appreciates.

The Lucasverse...which encompasses all that was SW when Lucas owned it...
And now the Disneyverse, that which has been recreated when Disney got it?
The Expanded Universe has been officially retconned by Lucas as an "alternate timeline" or some such. Basically a whole "what might have been"/"it never happened".
I'm pretty sure infinites never happened.

Heh. Just goes to show what the standards for good Star Wars products have to be, then. That said, I liked it. I felt it did well and filled in a number of blanks, even managing to treat the original trilogy with respect.

I thought the story had some nice elements to it. Didn't like it much as a game though, particularly the cinematic button mash endings. I don't like that in any games where they show up (which is too often).

So the game went too far with force powers? The movies made it clear that no one is strong enough to move a large star ship; now small or even possibly medium ones sure... but if they could toss large ones around then battles would have been very different.

I liked the story of Force Unleashed because I think it was a subtle and interesting way of presenting an alternate storyline. The idea of the rebel alliance being assembled by Vader is certainly interesting, and I like many of the Jedi in the game - the stories of what became of them after order 66.
Where the game fell flet (in the story aspect) is execution. certainly in the hand of better scriptwriters these concepts could have been honed into a very entertaining Star Wars tale.
I kind of want a Telltale Star Wars game, come to think of it.

This is how much of an Imperial I remain to this day.
A recurring nightmare I have had since I was 12 still creeps up on me about once a year.
And its that of His Imperial Majesty's ship the Super Star Destroyer Executor being pulled into the Death Star II's gravity well.
That was a tragedy of paramount magnitude.

It's in the Disney vault. We ain't seeing it for a while, if ever.
If they rerelease the original versions, I would expect it would be part of the lead up to the new movies.

What do I hope to see in the next Star Wars movie?
Simple.
Do you know how people say that "this movie" or "that movie" is the Star Wars of this generation.
Well how about we have a Star Wars the IS The Star Wars of this generation. For any generation while we are at it.
I want the silver screen to have all the elements that made my 7 year old self eyes go wide and mouth drop. I want Star Wars VII to bring back my sheer love and utter awe of Star Wars. I want the orchestra to play long and the audience to cheer wild. I want my villains properly British and my scoundrels with a heart of gold always shoot first. I want to go back and be transported to a long time ago, in the galaxy far, far away, and meet my 7 year old self again and we have the time of our lives.
I just want my childhood back for a couple of hours.
Now you kids get off my lawn!
And just like that, I am 7 years old again.

Well, the lower your expectations, the more likely they will be exceeded. The higher they are, the more likely you are to be disappointed. I figure this is why Attack of the Clones appeared to be so good at first viewing despite its horrible shortcomings (I think it is the worst in the series by far). Phantom Menace had calibrated expectations to be very low.

Why did the stormtrooper wake in the desert? Because the others thought he was too short to be a stormtrooper.
New X-wings are pretty awesome. The fanfare is a great moment as well.

I was super hyped on the prequels...and well they were disappointing. So I am not trying to get my hopes up about the new movies.
Add in that I think J.J. is horribly overrated, and that Disney will apparently be cranking out Star Wars movies at a steady pace until the heat death of the universe, just makes me very guarded in my enthusiasm for the new stories.
The odds of C-3P0 being correct in that prediction are approximately 783 million... to 1.
Yeah, and 3P0 seems to have picked up some usual programing after that last memory wipe at Anchorhead.
