Making a Cleric for Skulls and Shackles, 20 point buy. Core, APG, UM, Advanced Race, Ultimate Campaign, others on case by case basis
My thought is human (for feat) cleric of Sivannah. I like the chaos and madness domains (i think i went protean for chaos) both give aura at 8th level. This is a debuff cleric. with spring attack to help her get into and out of combat delivering touch spells to enemies or allies and making use of those auras.
My challenges
- weapons. What are some good or fun ideas for weapons. Should i use a a spear or some kind of reach weapon? Should i just use my goddesses favored weapon (balded scarf, 2-handed) I like the idea of a shield and one handed weapon. At range should I have a crossbow, or sling just to have an option?
- feats. I know i will need spell penetration and gretaer spell penetration, as well as spell focus in at least necromancy. I also plan on selective channel.
Human, 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15,
thats 9 feats during this adventure. Selective channel, spell focus, both spell penetrations equal 4 feats. leaving 5 open. SHould I spend the 3 feats on spring attack chain? being acleric that nats to be closer to combat, dodge and mobility will see there use, as should spring attack. that would still leave me with 2 open slots. Should i use that on a more spell focus and perhaps a greater spell focus? Is toughness worht it? Should I go a different race and give up that extra early feat?
Party mix is up in the air. expecting a mobile fighter and a superstitious barbarion. Other possible include ranger, magus, and a fire oracle.
thansk for any thoguhts or advice.

A reach cleric with a conductive weapon is VERY safe bet. The longspear will also allow you to cover both your front line and back line as needed with attacks of opportunity as well. If you need a ranged weapon I'd grab a light crossbow but frankly I don't think you will ever need it unless you have archers shooting at from across a chasm of immense size because summoning would save most ranged problems.

A sling costs no money, weighs nothing, and can use rocks you find on the ground as ammo. Write one on every character sheet you have. Seriously.
Longspear reach cleric is a solid bet, if you're concerned about SR the human FCB is "Add +1 on caster level checks made to overcome the spell resistance of outsiders." It doesn't apply to all SR but who are we kidding, it's basically only outsiders and dragons at the levels you need the boosters.
For feats I recommend Divine Interference to sacrifice your level 1 spells to force enemies to reroll crits. There's also Improved Unarmed Strike (also helps with hitting people while holding a longspear) to get Domain Strike and deliver your domain debuffs along with your fists. You'll have to ask about Domain Strike though, it's Ultimate Combat.

This approach sounds called the Bad Touch cleric in Tark's cleric guide.
The bad touch cleric is an offensive cleric with a twist. This cleric isn’t all that concerned with dealing raw hit point damage. Rather the cleric is much more concerned with debuffing opponents, slapping them in the face with save-or-dies or save-or-sucks until they curl into a ball and crumple beneath the combined force of arms your group provides. The bad touch cleric hops into and out of melee range casting a series of nasty debuff spells while simultaneously making use of his domain powers to cripple an opponent’s ability to act.
A Conductive Weapon costs 8000 gp, so you'll probably be able to buy it around 6th or 7th level in PFS. A conductive longspear is the obvious choice.
As a rare neutral cleric of a neutral deity you have access to the Versatile Channeler feat. That might be worth considering, especially if you also Quick Channel. Channeling is not a strong power, but can be quite handy. It works at full power underwater. Also, swarms are a thing.
You'll also want to check out the Reach Cleric guide, of course. This was written after Tark's guide. This is a very effective approach.

I had not looked into divine interferance, nifty feat that gives me some added debuff power. Not sure about doing much more with channel beyond selective, though i cna see potential for versatile, and liek you said, works under water.
i pulled up reach cleric guide but havent read through it yet. Lognspear seems a solid choice.
thank you all for the advice. It will still be a few months until we start this campaign, so i ahve plenty of time to play around with it and find something i think i will enjoy.
always open to more suggestions but this has alreayd been very helpful.
