Nikole Alicer
Here's Nikole, a charming little witch changeling.
I'm still working on the rest of her fluff, but her link to Professor Lorrimor would be this:
The professor helped her work out a 'little' mistake with a rich & powerful family in Magnimar, where she enticed the eldest son to take her along on an adventure trip to a forest in Ustalav. She didn't know that they would find a group of cultists dwelling in the said forest who barely hesitated to kill her current escort. Now, with the small fortune that the son carried missing, Nikole has been on the run from the dead man's family in Magnimar who were convinced that she plotted to rob him.
She had an encounter the professor when she was looking for people who were investigating the cultists. He was actually studying their practise, but more importantly, he had direct ties to the head of the family hunting Nikole. After some desperate discussions, begging, and a gift, Professor Lorrimor made a deal with her to help clear her name. "A woman of your talent could be so much more..." he said.
Doctor Hieronymous
Concept being a former soldier turned medic who uses his sharp intellect to create healing alchemy in the hopes that more lives can be saved on the battlefield. However, at the same time, he had to do unspeakable acts during wartime, he was almost a different person. The same mind that seeks ways to stop bleeding could see so many ways to cause more of it. His mutagens were intended as a boon to soldiers, but when under their effect, he find himself acting under the influence of his darker self.

@Chellian Oaks: I'm looking for characters a bit more waist-deep in the horror than "encountered a monster but then moved on to have a normal life".
@nate lange: Kinda the same deal as above. Not really anything conventionally horror-ish.
@Sera Vasara: Looking good so far.
@Cuan: Monstrous is actually a classification of races; it's Centaur, Ogre, and Trox. Tieflings or Dhampir are both perfectly fine choices and definitely ones with potential.

Ah ok, wasn't sure what you intended since the word can be interpreted in multiple ways, especially in a horror game.
That leads me to the next question: Would you be for the printed Dhampir or would you allow the 'intended' versions as posted here(Paizo boards) by the developer?
Doomguide
@Doomguide: Yeah, that could be cool. Willing to reflavour Half-Orc or something, but I'm on the fence about allowing a custom race for this. We'll see.
Yeah, I couldn't make anything that seemed right with race builder without it being overpowered or just weird.
Maybe a combination of dwarf an orc. +2 STR and CON -2 Dex and Cha. Slow and steady due to lurching gate. Hardy cause he is a mish mash of living dead and other. Ferocity, cause flesh golemns tend to berserk. -2 on diplomacy and interactions with animals due to unnatural aura? Disquise as a class skill?
Lamontius
@Lamontius: I see a few places in the book around second level I could sneak that into loot somehow, if you'd prefer it be handled in-game. Jonah's looking good so far.
Sounds great. I'm pretty much done with the crunch and fluff for my character, but if you require anything else that isn't currently included in Jonah's profile just let me know and I'll get on it.

@horrorshow: he's the unquestioningly loyal and (seemingly) immortal manservant of the mysterious professor, and he secretly worships a militant-cult version of an ancient death god... perhaps you could clarify what type of horror you're looking for? to me, he seems very much a part of the Victorian horror style (sort of an Igor meets Dorian Grey type, with a splash of vaguely Lovecraftian mysterious-foreign-cult)...
are you looking for something more monster movie or slasher flick, maybe? or perhaps more directly wrapped up with some specific supernatural horror? you said you wanted variety so i went with a niche i didn't think would be overpopulated, but (like i said before) i have other ideas i can develop if you feel like he's too subtle or not a great fit for your vision (just let me know).

Well, I know nothing about this campaign but have been interested in playing for quite some time now. I think I want to go for the 'creepy child' trope, by playing a halfling sorcerer who will be taking Childlike as a first level feat and Pass for Human at third level, so that she could go around and create mischeif without worrying too much about being blamed. (Perhaps she would be enchantment focused) Do you think this concept might fit into this world? (I could also play an actual human child if you would allow it)
This is of course only a start. Iwill be working on actual backstory along with the crunch a bit later.

nobody has claimed it yet (as far as i can see), so if my first proposal isn't acceptable i'm going to submit a necromancer... still working on the build (trying to decide between arcane, divine, or theurge) but i'll post something probably tonight. he'll be a straight up undead creating/controlling old school necromancy enthusiast.

how do we feel about this character?
To be fair, Ardra is a woman of several reputations. She's a philanthropist who's willing to house and serve the many destitutes who live in the slums where her restaurant is located. She's an ill-mannered host who doesn't take well to criticism of her food or establishment. If you can gin her confidence, she's a loyal and true friend. She makes, bar none, the best blood puddings of anyone in the Inner Sea. That last is the only reason her greasy spoon of a diner has remained solvent, and that barely. Unfortunately, rumor has it that her world famous puddings do not include cow's blood; something which also bears on her reputation. It may not have help that she maintained such poorly named menu items as Long Pork Stew and Warm Rocket and Soilent Green Salad, but it seemed to amuse her to do so.
This last issue did not stop one Professor Lorrimor from visiting her establishment on rare occasions when he was in the area investigating the nearby ancient ruins or consulting with the more scholarly cut-throat organizations in the city. Ardra doted on the professor, not surprising when one considered how a man of HIS reputation would debase himself to visit her shabby demesne and heap such lavish praises upon her skill as a cook. So delighted was he with her particularly unique cuisine that he once even hired her to cater a conference he was holding on the arcane properties of particular pieces of the rarely well preserved undead anatomy (or whatever makes sense).
It was at this very conference that Ardra discovered how dangerous the life of an academic can be. It was her keen eyes which spotted the attendee with the hand crossbow hidden in a springloaded wrist sheath and her knowledge which allowed her to identify the acrid scent of the alchemical poison applied to the loaded bolt. It was her quick wits and fast hands that allowed her to convert the tureen of bearnaise she was carrying into an explosive which blew the man's hands off, saving the professor's life. Finally, after assisting to dispose the body, it was her honeyed sweetbreads pie which sealed the deal when Lorrimor asked her if she'd be willing to come work for him as his personal chef, and occasional spymistress and bodyguard.

I'd like to submit this character for consideration. While some might consider a Dhampir to be 'monstrous', I feel it really fits the setting. He was in another Carrion Crown PBP which unfortunately disintegrated shortly after the funeral scene. Details are in the profile.
In terms of party role, he's going to go full caster with a focus on save-or-status-effect spells. While I hadn't planned for him to get any cure spells beyond the first, I can make room for a few more if the party is in desperate need. Thematically, he's wrestling with what he has become, trying to use his evil power for good.
Cuàn
I'm torn between two concepts.
The first is the Ru-Shi Dhampir. He has been imported by the vampires of Caliphas as a sort of novelty, somewhere between a pet and a servant. He hated his situation and when he got the chance to escape, most likely because his owner was either distracted or killed, he took it and swore vengeance on vampire-kind. He'd be a devotee of Pharasma.
The other would be a Hellspawn (devil-kin) Tiefling from Karcau who is the result of the actions of the Harlequin Society, and underground cult of the Malebranche Alechino (see Heart of Fear). He would have been part of the cult's depraved rituals at a young age and would have been freed by crusaders who made a stop in Karcau on their way to the Worldwound from Lastwall. He'd be a devotee of either Iomedae or Ragathiel (the latter being an even better fit as he also is the spawn of a devil who now hates evil but also has to fight against his own darker urges).

May I present Kristoph Jacobsson, or as he is better known, Pyro.
As a child he was bullied and teased about his appearance. They should have known better. Instead of training on ships and sparring, Kristoph went deep into the wilderness. He began watching and studying the natural world. He found ruins with ancient glyphs and depictions of people bound and burning. Over time, he came to be able to read the runes and understand their meaning. They showed methods of drawing the fires from the heart of nature to use as he saw fit. It was at this time that he changed. He burned the symbols into his skin and painted his body in ash. He was no longer the little bullied boy, he was Pyro, master of nature's most furious force, fire.
He returned to his village late in the night and took his revenge. Every black eye, every broken bone, every verbal torment, he would return to them at once. In an instant. He waited until his oppressors were drunk and alone, bathing in their warrior's glory. It was then he struck. Fire rained from the sky, their hut instantly ablaze. He flung balls of fire into their back as they fled. None survived.
Unfortunately the town did not see things his way. They suspected the blaze was his doing. They surched the forest and found his ruins, they found his notes and charred targets. It was time for him to leave.
At first he ran, then he walked, then he found passage among a caravan. He would forage for the group in exchance for shelter and passage. He kept his gifts secret. He covered his sigils and blended into the society of the caravan. He would have to find a new home before he couls continue his training. This is not to say that there were not the occasional cart fire when someone decided to try to take advantage of the thin boy. However, no one ever linked it to Pyro.
The caravan finally came to an end. He found himself in Ustalav.
The first weeks were rough. This was a land of toil and suffering. Eventually, however, he came to know a man named Professor Petros Lorrimor. The professor immediately recognized the symbols on Pyro and with that, his potential. Professor Lorrimor gave all of the help he could to the young Ulfen, but it took considerable time for the boy to open up about his power. Over time, the two of them taught eachother much. Pyro learned more constraint, and over time, he came to know the workings of the people, towns, and governments.
Only weeks after the professor sent the boy into the world, a trained and self-sufficient man, that Pyro got word the professor was dead.
He has now rushed back to Ravengo as soon as possible, the funeral days away.
Pyro is an Ulfen Druid, but about as far from both as it gets. Nature fang archetype, fire domain, frail and short ulfen. (No pet, no wild shape, but stealth and sneak attack and fireballs)
He was a teased and tortured boy that found freedom and power through wiccan-esque connection to nature and fire.
The character draws ideas from tv & movie witchcraft, with some orphan boy, and a bit of corrupted Cinderella thrown in. (Imagine if instead of a fairy godmother he has a wiccan fire spirit that gave him a flamethrower)

Danior Wesh *Danny*
This is Darksmokepuncher.
May I present Danior Wesh - A Werewolf Urban Barbarian.
Danior's parents are Varisian merchants who own a travelling caravan and are quite well of.
In the middle of a particularly good trade season, Anca and Weylyn Talekosh (Danior's parents) are conned. An old harrower woman convinces the couple that the child is growing into an unspeakable monster. Then she sends them on a wild goose chase to find Professor Lorrimor in Ustalav.
The whole way there, Anca obsesses over her poor child's deformed and monstrous state. This fear and constant worry seep into the child and create in him a natural lycanthropy.
When the child is born, under the Professor's supervision, on the edge of the shudderwood, a werewolf chieftain named Faolan comes with his tribe to bless the baby.
Faolan insists the Talekosh's name the child Danior Wesh and that they keep the boy in Ustalav until his 18th birthday. In return, Faolan weaves a wolfsbane armband for the boy every year to keep the wolf inside at bay until he becomes a man and must choose for himself how to live.
On his 17th birthday, after Danior receives his last armband from Faolan and is on his way home, Danior rescues the professor from half a dozen ghouls by killing both his own horse and the professor's to distract the ghouls.
They made their escape during the feeding frenzy that followed.

Ok, this character is too exciting not to create an alias for.
"Oh, hello." Kristoph says sheepishly.
He sits in the corner of the PC waiting room and looks over the others there.
Pura walks towards this 'Pyro' fellow, seemingly mechanically. Once she is close by, she looks up or I assume she would have to, being 2 ft. 8 in. tall and awkwardly extends her arm out in greeting. "Hello there." she almost whispers. "My name is Pura... Can you help me find my mommy and daddy?"

I humbly submit for consideration:
At 5'10" and 144 pounds, Alexei Oranslav is a handsome but largely unremarkable man. The only distinctive trait to his appearance is his amber eyes which some have speculated must be a sign of his ancestral Varisian roots. The youngest son of a minor noble family in Ardis, he dresses well at all times and is polite when manners require he socialize, though he is a quiet man who values his privacy and keeps to himself as much as possible. This is, however, all a carefully constructed facade.
Unbeknownst to the populace of Ardis, Alexei has long heard a voice from beyond... a voice which taught him dark and unseemly magicks. Hidden away in the basement of an abandoned church next to a cemetery just outside the city, he has been honing his dark craft and studying both the dead and undead. Today the umbral voice speaks to him from the ghastly doll it bid him make, and with its help he will master undeath and the power it can bring.
All his careful posturing almost came crashing down several years ago. While slinking back into the city one morning after a night of experimentation he was nabbed by the city watch and discovered to be in possession of human remains and a treatise on the raising of undead. The questioners were growing dangerously close to discovering where he'd been the night before when Professor Lorrimor stepped in. He took credit for owning the questionable objects and informed the guards they were necessary illustrations for a lecture he'd be giving later in his trip. Why the professor saved him was never clear but he did ask Alexei for his word that one day he would repay the debt. Since that day he has dread to think what he might one day be called to do to protect his secret, and it is with some anxiety that he comes now to hear the professor's will.

Sorry, but please do not roleplay in the recruitment thread.
@nate lange: I'm looking more for things owing back to either the classic horror that the campaign is a send-up to, or to more conventional supernatural horrors. The campaign centers mostly around the undead, and so ties toward those sorts of horrors are best. The horror of Dorian Gray is a lot more human and internal than the campaign will be. Also, the whole mysterious death cult thing might get a bit clash-ey with what's to come.
@Vitaliy Vladovich: "Monstrous" is a designation of races. Dhampir is fine to play.
Everything else to answer will have to wait until I've slept and can see words on my screen straight.

And this is the link to my character's information.
Not that the Hell Knights knew of course. Otherwise they would have killed her on the spot. No, instead they allowed her to be taken off as a slave and to serve out the rest of her sentence in the city of Ardis. Not many side effects of the possession had developed yet. Perhaps an out of place book or even a levitating tea cup. But in a world full of magic, Pura found that easy to overlook. That's when things became much worse. Pura's personality changed drastically, turning the lovable rogue into a spite filled being, manifesting more and more of the daemon's personality as time went on. Eventually, the change was too drastic for her owners to be ignored and they went out seeking help. That's when Pura met the Professor for the first time.
The Professor contacted a few trained healers and priests he knew and had them perform the exorcism on her. The procedure... was not exactly successful, leaving not only one Priest dead, but a piece of the daemon had lodged itself too deeply in Pura's soul to be removed totally. The Professor left saddened, but with the promise that he will return when he needed a favor from her owners... or Pura herself.
But unfortunately for her owners, the procedure had warped her mind too far. Not remembering any of her past before the procedure, Pura murdered the two of them (despite being relatively kind slave owners) and fled, living out the next few years of her life as an 'orphaned child' on the streets of Caliphas, stealing and convincing others to take pity on her in order to survive. However, she never quite stopped thinking about the Professor's promise... and then she heard the news of his death.
As of now, there are only two goals on her mind. To pay respects to the Professor and to find a way to rid herself of this daemon once and for all... no matter what she has to do in order for the separation to be complete.

I almost forgot to mention my role. I am primarily a face character/rogue who later on will also be helping a lot with knowledges (think of me as a skill monkey). I am not a substitute for a primary caster (I have utility spells and will pick up a wand of CLW as soon as possible to keep people alive) and I am... very mediocre in either ranged (sling or acid/alchemist fire) or melee combat (I can be a flanking buddy as I have a longsword, but don't expect much DPS from me.) That being said, I am a primarily out of combat character as befits a bard. I can stay alive in combat, but, you know, not my role. I can make a few changes as the party sees fit.
EDIT
On second thought, I might switch to the Detective archetype so that I can actually disable magical traps and still play a pretty well done face character (so a better skill monkey)

It seems a lot of people have not understood monstrous. As a guide, take a look at this passage from the ARG in the custom race section:

Power Level RP Range Traits per Category
Standard 1–10 3
Advanced 11–20 4
Monstrous 20+ 5
The table didn't format well, but I think you can get the idea.

It didn't understand what was happening. The shadows were moving and doing things to it. In its confusion and fear it became angry. With a burst of unnatural strength the chains shattered. It stood up and flailed at the dark figures surrounding it. They kept making sounds at it, but it did not know what they meant, it only made it madder. It hit the noisy figures to make them stop. After a few minutes all the noise stopped except for the sound of the raging storm.
It stumbled in to the night, not noticing the rain washing the blood from its hulking form.
******
It woke again, and the storm was gone. It was completely quiet except for a crunching sound nearby. Looking up, it saw a white monster, only a few feet away. As he shuffled away from the creature it made a hideous Baaah! sound. A few moments later, another of the figures moved in to view.
Now who have we got here, and by the gods what has happened to you? It slunk back, the wet, cold and pain in its stomach sapping it of the rage it felt last night. Well, lets get you dried off and fed at the least. I am Rogard, by the way, what is your name?
******
It was now a he, but it still had no name. He hadn't meant to hurt the Rogard, but he knocked something over and red filled the small hut. It looked in the burning and smoke for the Rogard, but by the time he found him, he wasn't making sounds anymore.
******
He shambled away, covered in the clothes the Rogard had given him and filled with the bread he had fed him. A few days later he found himself confronted by another monster. this was was huge, and had two heads. One of them made noises at him! Dear gods, man what happened to you? You look like you have been opened up by a dozen blades. What's your name?
The monster kept making sounds, but the Rogard had made sounds and wasn't bad. What did the monster want? What is your name? it said again, louder and slower this time. Name, the Rogard had made that noise too. Maybe this is another Rogard!
He tried to make the noises back the the new Rogard. Uhh...Rogard?
Rogard eh? Lets get you to the priest of Pharasma, you may not be dead but she is still the best healer we have.
*******
A few years and many tragedies later, Rogard as he was called now, worked his forge. Putting his great muscles to work knocking the dents out of the church bell.
In walked a group of strangers, led by a fussy looking man in fine clothes. His companions held weapons at the ready, but their leader waved them down. Good morning, I am Professor Petros Lorrimor, and we have much to talk about.
The professor went on to explain the chaos his forgings had wreaked and the stain his presence had on the town. At first he couldn't believe it, but a part of him new it was true. He was cursed. He was something dark and he couldn't get close to anyone or anything or it would suffer a terrible end.
With that and the Professor's stern warning, Rogard gathered his things and never slept in the same place two days in a row as he worked his way across the country. He took to hunting criminals, bandits and monsters. At least they deserved the death he carried in him.
Then a letter reached him. How the professor knew where he would be was a mystery, but he was summoned, so he came. Things must be very dire if he thought a damned creature like me was needed.

@Toodles: Interesting. Morbid as hell. But interesting.
@Vitaliy: Not sure exactly how he qualifies as a dhampir?
@Cuan: Either of those would definitely be interesting to expand upon.
@jooker: I'm digging it. Can't say "magic is the monsters" was a direction I expected, but it's certainly up the idea's alley.
@Danior: So far so good. For anyone wondering how it'll work with the Lycanthrope template; should Danny be accepted, he'll begin play as a first level Barbarian as normal. When it's time to level up, he will remain a Barbarian, but gain the template. It's not a gentle solution, but it'll keep everything roughly in check.
@nate lange: Yes, Alexei is much more along the intended direction.
@Pura Guile: To what extent is she still possessed? I ask only because I see a lot of potential for "demon" (GM) takeover for oh-so-fun consequences, but I don't know if that's something you're cool with.
@Doomguide: Looking good. Rovagug is fine as a basis for the class crunch.
@Vivian: I'm looking for characters a bit more heavy on the monster and horror side of things.

I can imagine from time to time, the daemon would take over again completely. (Allowing you, the GM, to have fun) I couldn't imagine it would take over for long extended periods of time though, like before the exorcism.
Maybe it could be something along the lines of an intelligent item. Some minor boon that fits the story, like a short range telepathy, but she must make a will save every time the daemon wants to do something she doesn't, with failure meaning the DM takes over (and don't forget her drawback. If she have to make a will save against enchantment effects and she is offered money or power, she takes. -2 penalty.) I can imagine that her default alignment is Neutral with NE tendencies) but the daemon is full blown neutral evil.
Pura Guile
Perhaps if you would be willing to go that route with my character, you would like to know more about the daemon that possessed her. I was thinking something along the lines of a phasmadaemon: one that specializes in illusions and enjoys nothing more than to fill other people with dread and (quite literally) making them die of fright.

and, since i'm already making an additional post...
The first time he heard the dark voice was in his early teens. It frightened and worried him, but it was also so enticing. He sought advice from one of his instructors--a strange man with a propensity for sharing knowledge most teachers found taboo--who he knew would neither judge nor report him. His instructor warned him that consorting with otherworldly entities carried great risk, but confided in him that when proper precautions were taken it could also be a source of great power. Alexei had never had power. He was the youngest in his family and even when all were fully grown he was the smallest and weakest of his brothers. He had no political power either; his family was of the lowest order of nobility and any small authority that might bring was his eldest brother's. The voice continued to whisper in the cold silence of night and it was not long before the growing desire for power caused Alexei to acquiesce.
With this entity's help his knowledge of esoterica has continued to expand and he his learned to harness arcane power to his ends. Alexei has a natural inclination towards necromancy which his patron has not been shy in fostering. The prospects of lichdom and commanding an undying army both appeal greatly to his desire for power. He has not yet learned to raise the undead but already he has some ability to control them and on more than one occasion he has turned a skeleton or zombie against a rival or someone he felt insulted by. He is always very cautious to avoid detection but looks forward to the day when he has amassed enough power to leave the fear and shadows and receive the respect and fear he deserves.

Just for flavor, I'm thinking that as a preservationist and chef she's constantly trying to figure out how to maintain a discrete supply of fresh meat and so once she gets her bottled ally feature at 2nd level, summoned creatures will actually be summoned humanoids with the appropriate CR for the spell's level. For the sake of spell effects and such the summoned creatures would still be considered animals and/or magical creatures (less headaches for you, hopefully). As she goes up in level I'll eventually use a feat to give her "planar preservationist" as well for extra versatility and for the occasional special recipe like braised leg of glabrezu or angel's cheeks with mushrooms.
Otherwise, mechanically, she's a bit of a melange. with six characters you're likely to have plenty of specialists to choose from, but Ardra will be versatile enough fit whatever role the party needs. She has thief skills; she can buff and do some modest healing with potions; with mutagens and eventually cognotogens she's strong or smart enough at need for combat or or various skill checks; she can lay down cover fire with bombs, and as she gains levels she can summon her own army of either combatants or advisors.
This completes my bothering of you. Looking forward to hearing your verdict this weekend.

@Pura Guile: Maybe. Might be a bit stronger than could eventually be faced, since I don't think you get any higher than the low-mid teens. But we'll see. It would definitely be something where certain periods would bring about a roll that, if failed, could let the demon slip into control for a short while.
@Vitaliy Vladovich: Oh! Okay I didn't know you were reflavoring Dhampir, hence my confusion. Okay that makes more sense now.

Wrote up a nice big long post on my phone and then the wifi cut out and I lost it! Such suffering!
So I decided to just finish up his character profile, which includes his crunch, backstory, and a bit of additional information. The general horror archetype he will fill will be the gloomy veteran with a dark secret and only the barest of control over his power.
I'm working on his meeting with Professor Lorimmor, and will post an update once I've finished!

i don't want to clog up the thread but i was curious what all had actually been submitted and thought a list might be helpful for potential additional pitches (or maybe even the GM). here's every one i found who had at least some of their crunch and fluff posted. obviously the short race/class summary doesn't tell the whole story but at least now we can kind of see a rough sketch of what's been submitted.

Wakati Nahodha- elf, oracle [ancient lorekeeper]
Sera Vasara- human, inquisitor [infiltrator/vampire hunter]

And I think that would be so interesting! Perhaps if it would be too powerful at its strongest to face, a scaled down version? I mean, it had gone throu an exorcism so I think that would have weakened it somewhat.
I also took a look at the Sound Striker archetype for the bard that I can take later on that fits (imagine her chanting in Aklo, or Abyssal, and the language being so strange that it actually causes physical damage to creatures).
You have no idea how much Ive wanted to make a character for Carrion Crown. Even before I joined PFS actually...
