Dealing with evil outsiders

Advice

While I have extensive knowledge of the basics of dealing with them and the spells required(planar binding, circle against evil, dimensional anchor, etc.) I would like any information I can acquire, so, I turn to you, pathfinders, for additional information, if you would be so kind as to provide tips regarding trading, dealing, and controlling evil outsider of any type, kytons, demons, rakshasa, anything, I would be much obliged. Especially specific types of these evil races that are easier to deal with, like the ceustodaemon with the -2 to its will save, I would be very grateful.

If you know anything regarding good aligned outsiders to, that would be helpful as well.

Knowledge: Planes is invaluable. A player may know everything about Outsiders, yet it means nothing if your character has no clue.

Putting Bane (Evil Outsiders) is a cheap way to boost your to hit and damage against EO's immensely. Attempt to control their movement and debuff them as much as possible as a number of their resistances will make your party have a more difficult time with taking them out. Especially if the majority of your firepower is arcane.

Knowledge Planes is great, roll high the DM will tell you everything you would need to know to defeat the.

Sorry! Didn't clarify, when I meant dealing with, I didn't mean killing, I meant actually dealing with them, as in contracts. I feel like a twit now for not explaining.

And thanks kestrel, your right about the knowledge whether your killing them or dealing with them.

Grand Lodge

There's a whole section on the topic in Ultimate Magic broken down by type of outsider. Have you perused that yet?

If you search the forums, I believe someone made a guide to demons and devils, at the very least. For Diabolist and Demonologist PrCs, iirc.

It depends more on how your GM runs them than anything. Some GM's will have evil outsiders trying to undermine you at every step, while others might have them be quite compliant until given a reason to do otherwise. This is something you should talk to your GM about to lay down some basic expectations for how things are going to work.

I second asking your DM how he does that sort of stuff.

Under some DMs, getting the help of evil outsiders is just bad PR. Under others, it's basically suicide. I like to think that you can have reasonable dealings with a devil, as long as you keep your wits about you, but some DMs just refuse to let that work out well.

That 'Binding Outsiders' section in Ultimate Magic is nice for the tendencies of these sorts of creatures, and which ones will simply never work with a binder, ever.

Thanks, haven't seen that section yet, glad for the help guys, and your probably correct about it being up to the gm's discretion, my gm's a wily son-of-a-gun so they will likely undermine my every step.

There is only one way to deal with evil outsiders...

SMITE

EVIL

Lol, maybe for a bash-and-whacker that's the only way, but we summoners prefer to make deals with them.

I have come to the conclusion that the daemons soul gems would count as a effective currency for trading, and I have formulated a plan to acquire a cacodaemon(as well as an imp consular and a quasit) for an indefinite amount of time. Can you guys confirm the fact that these soul gems would operate as an effective currency?

Yes. Book of the Damned, Volume 3- Horsemen of the Apocalypse makes it explicit that the souls are currency and give prices for different types of creatures' souls. It does say that the prices it gives are guidelines and individuals can vary, like a younger dragon and a weak, unambitious king being worth less than usual.

Mindless creatures' souls are worth 10 gp.
Animal-level intelligence, 1 or 2, gets you 25 gp.
A common humanoid, like a low-level PC, low-CR monsters, or normal people, is about 100 gp.
More "noteworthy" souls- kings, celebrities, mid-level PCs, and other accomplished beings, are worth 500 gp.
"Grand" souls like high-level PCs, dragons, high-CR monsters, that sort of thing, go from 1,000 to 5,000 gp.
"Unique" souls are priceless- "For the truly unique souls— those of legendary figures, epic heroes, and other massive presences—there can be no going price. The unique sparks that live within these creatures are valuable beyond compare, and the frantic bidding (and backstabbing) that arises when one of these trapped spirits comes up for sale is the sort of thing fiends and undead wait thousands of years for, paying nigh-unimaginable prices for the right to consume or display such an artifact."

I tend to, as a GM, run them as such:

KNOW your evil outsider, because a Kyton and a Devil act very differently despite both being Lawful Evil Outsiders.

So;

Daemon. In short, your beating heart is an insult to them. They will lie, cheat and steal, even more then a Chaotic Evil Demon, to kill you and everyone else in the end.

Demon: They can be expected to lie; but if the players are able to really threaten them, they will give in to fear.

Devil; The deal is as much fun for them as the players. And like players, they play to win. Getting the most for the least is what they'll do; but almost none will abandon a deal in progress.

Kyton; An interesting type to deal with. They basically want to help you, using their unusual mentality, by inflicting pain on you, or others. They're not as likely to scheme, but they may try to overwhelm you.

Rakshasa; (They count). These decadent creatures want to dominate and gather beautiful things, and worthwhile things, as they are driven by their hedonism. So, if a player appeals to this fiend, they might just try to seize them.

I'm not too familiar with Div, Oni, Demodands, Azura, and Qlippith. But for them, you can look on d20pfsrd

Qlippoth are kind of like daemons except they exclude themselves from the "everything must die" bit.

Divs have a similar agenda to daemons, but for them, it's personal, and they just hate mortals. It's not enough to destroy everything mortal, they have to suffer first.

Oni are kind of like rakshasa in that they want to dominate and consume stuff, but only a specific kind of stuff. They used to be kami, tasked with protecting a specific thing. Now that they've gone all evil, they instead want to destroy that specific thing.

Demodands- the titans tried to play god and make mortals. They failed, and made the demodands. They're as strong as they're ugly, and they're as ugly as the proverbial yo mamma joke. They strive to replace mortals and rule creation.

Asuras are gods' mistakes, and they want to undo everything the gods did, which happens to make up most of existence.

Thanks guys, have formulated a plan for our campaign to acquire a Cacodaemon as a pseudo-animal companion. We have a paladin, and while he sticks to his code of honour, he's willing to help buddies out. So, he requested that he be giving 3 prisoners set up for execution to "Turn to the side of good" To strengthen his connection with his god. I am then going to use these people as bargaining chips for the Cacodaemon deal. If he accepts, he may do with the men as he please, and torment them to his hearts content. Afterwards, I will use him to acquire soul gems, so that I may use these to trade with other Evil outsiders. So, what do you guys think?

So how much for the soul of Aretha Franklin since she is the Queen of Soul?

Probably priceless.

How priceless is priceless I wonder? Like high ranking daemon servitude, or just a lot of mula?

Probably both.
