Roll20 Varisian Kingmaker Speedrun

Recruitment

Alrighty Let's do this.
I'm looking for a handful(4 max) of interested players to build a kingdom in Varisia.

I'm looking for interesting stories and character concepts. Over-the-top fantastic characters are welcome.
Send me your mad engineers and your ambitious do-gooders, send me your cynical schemers and arcane explorers.

I won't explain any character creation stats beyond acceptable race and classes until I've OK'ed a concept.

Races Allowed: Anything logically and reasonably drawn from the Varisian area. Player level races unless you convince me you should get something more powerful.

Classes Allowed: If it's on the Paizo PRD it's valid.

Here's the deal, give me a concept that hooks me and makes me excited to see you and your compatriots work together to build a nation.

Roll20 games will be on sunday and we will chatter throughout the week in forums as needed.

Feel free to work your concepts together.

Interesting. What time (and timezone) did you have in mind?

I and EST or UTC-5. Time of day either early 10 AM my time or late at 7 PM or so depending on the schedules involved.

Sczarni

I have a varisian human I made for another kingmaker game... Sounds like it will be interesting.

Alrighty give me the story you think best sells the character. We will be starting around Sandpoint.

Sczarni

Alright. I got a friend who might be working with me, so I will get back to you shortly. :)

Sczarni

Oh BTW, she is one of the most unorthidox characters I've ever made. An inquisitor..... Of Shelyn..... Think about it....

So someone who hunts down those who oppose art and expression?

I've booked a holiday to New Zealand in early September (only for a week though) but aside from that am otherwise free to join.

I'm still unsure about characters but if we are in need of a meat shield then I've got the concept of a fighter in the works. Half-orc fighter (Phalanx Soldier). From Advanced Players guide p. 105.

Basic background:
Drannis was born to a poor family in Korvosa, The son of half-orc parents. At a young age his father abandoned the family and Drannis joined the Hellknights in an attempt to provide for his mother. Thanks to his strength and motivation, he was accepted by the Order of the Nail as was trained as an armiger.

Several years later, while working as little more than a manservant for a Hellknight Maralictor, his charge died mysteriously in his underground office space. Such strange deaths had occurred from time to time in the citadel (much to the Hellknight's concern and fear) but Drannis was nevertheless implicated due to his proximity and (unspokenly) his orc heritage.

Fortunately, the lack of evidence ensured that Drannis would be spared the executioners block. Still, his reputation was ruined. His superiors gave him new orders. Travel to Sandpoint and remain there to support the local sheriff and protect the town from monster activities.

Drannis had no choice but to comply but he saw this for what it was. Exile. Arriving in Sandpoint with his armiger armor and halberd, Drannis knew he was nothing more than a glorified mercenary with little hope for advancement in the Hellknight Order. Despite this, Drannis has a noble spirit and dreams someday of proving himself.

Damn, I just worked out timezones and I don't think I'll be able to join after all. Even if the game started at 10am Sunday, that would mean the game would begin midnight Monday for me (being in Sydney Australia). A bit too late for me.
Cheers and good luck.

I'll be closing this thread however, I have messaged those that have contacted me about this game.

I'm interested and should be available at the time specified. I'll need to come up with a better fleshed out concept than "magic user who wants to establish a realm of higher learning"

Scarab Sages

I'm interested. (Being in the UK the 10am your time start would be better for me).
Thinking about an arcane character (Magus or Wizard)
Let me know if you have an opening (only saw the thread tonight!)

I'm back in it I guess. However I was thinking of going back to a modified kingmaker River Kingdoms section. Let me know what you guys think.

Still have openings though.

How about a wizard who has been studying ancient history, the Thassilonians and what-not, and wants to make a nation of high magic and science. Would focus a lot on crafting, constructs, that kind of thing.

Would you be willing to allow a Grippli? They are a primitive race living in the swamps and forests, and I think the frontier would be a great place to find one. I would preferably play him as a monk or rogue depending on the party. His whole deal is that he is seeing an influx of settlers, and wanting to expand his people's influence decides to set up a "treefort for all the races CROAK!" If another party member would allow it he would have traveled with them learning the ways of outside races and cultures. He would be a simple fellow slow to change his ways, but the dependable sort. If I'm added I will add more as I learn more about your game's history, but otherwise his personality is created.

Also, how long have you been GMing, and is this more of a roleplay game or a rollplay game? I also would like to talk to you over skype or some other method if I'm accepted to learn more about how you GM.

Scarab Sages

I am thinking of a Greensting Slayer who's been "asked" to explore the River kingdoms by his Mage School. (His ways are unorthodox for the Good leaning School and has left under a cloud). He is out for his own benefit (thinking True Neutral) and looking for glory, money and power.
I'm thinking of either a Human or Elf build.

My new work schedule will require I work until 3 on weekends so I won't be able to start until after that point.

Diphycue I love that idea, and would love to have an engineer-wizard in the group.

Tired Dude I would allow a Grippli, although in going with you suggestion I would prefer you have a partner that you can rely on and who helps smooth out misunderstandings. Also I will pm you my skype name and you can talk to me on there if you wish.

Also I have been GMing for about 5 years now and I strongly favor Roleplay, my games tend to be more cinematic when it comes to combat and I focus on story and reward creativity.

Harper101 We will stick to Varisia so you my have to tweak it around that.

Diphycue would you be willing to have a wandering frog monk in your travels who tags along? Their relationship would be that I'm always asking you questions about everything in your books. I would be particularly interested in magic creations, but other cultures would be brought up. I would regard you as an older brother who has his head in the clouds a little too often. I would every so often try and teach you about wonders of nature, and that being attuned to nature and your surroundings brings you inner strength.

Sure thing, would you mind testing out new and dangerous magical constructs?

Lol yes! Although I must warn you when I rolled for hp I got a 1, so nothing too dangerous please. =D

If we're first level you should get max.

level 2 characters

Scarab Sages

Hi Tobaris,

No problem .. think I'd tweak him to be a half elf (as Verisa seems to have a lot of them), from the shadow area of Magnimar were he picked up bits of Arcane and urban survival techniques.

If thats ok as a concept I'll start building him up

Hey, Magnimar, I love that place!
