Scarab Sages

I'd be interested in running it. I've not run RotR before, but have run a number of games.
How does your group like to do the games (I personally would prefer to run sessions online say via skype and the likes of roll20 or similar).

Scarab Sages

I'm interested in pretty much any AP.
Would prefer gaming via skype (or similar) as opposed to PBP (as I work 12 hour shifts and could go several days without checking the boards).

I prefer playing casters, and if there is a high level game needing a caster let me know.

Scarab Sages

Page 144 of the core book states in the Type section:
"Some weapons deal damage of multiple types. If a
weapon causes two types of damage, the type it deals is
not half one type and half another; all damage caused is of
both types. Therefore, a creature would have to be immune
to both types of damage to ignore any of the damage caused
by such a weapon."

I don't think its been updated in any errata.

Scarab Sages

I have backed 3pp AP's before via kickstarter (and backed them by subscribing eg Slumbering Tsar which was on the go before Kickstarter).

I think I echo what others have said .. I may back them. For me it depends who is involved, what the AP's story line is. What the time frame is, and the kickstarter pledge levels.

Scarab Sages

I'm interested in this.
I have a couple of questions:
a) Is this a php game or is it going to be run using a VTT?
b) As I live in the UK I am just wondering when this would be running (eg UK evenings/UK nights etc)?

Scarab Sages

Hi Tobaris,

No problem .. think I'd tweak him to be a half elf (as Verisa seems to have a lot of them), from the shadow area of Magnimar were he picked up bits of Arcane and urban survival techniques.

If thats ok as a concept I'll start building him up

Scarab Sages

I am thinking of a Greensting Slayer who's been "asked" to explore the River kingdoms by his Mage School. (His ways are unorthodox for the Good leaning School and has left under a cloud). He is out for his own benefit (thinking True Neutral) and looking for glory, money and power.
I'm thinking of either a Human or Elf build.

Scarab Sages

I'm interested. (Being in the UK the 10am your time start would be better for me).
Thinking about an arcane character (Magus or Wizard)
Let me know if you have an opening (only saw the thread tonight!)

Scarab Sages

I'm interested, only question I have is that evenings as seen by the US or evenings by us over in European (or more specifically the UK)?

I posted his back story yesterday. Posting again for ease.

Follower of Charon (the hourseman of death.. if thats ok). The Character was forced out of his elven community at an early age after the death of his family. Has come to rely on himself and not others.
Having been partially been raised by the underworld of Warterdeep (gaining some grounding in the ways of the wealth distribution agents) he was found on a job by a wizard, who saw his arcane talent and put him into his service as an apprentice/bodyguard.
He has recently been released of his service to the wizard, and has headed North for adventure, and vengeance against those who killed his family.

He only talks when he needs to, and while he may appear to be self centred, he likes working with others as he has found often working with others gets him to were he wants to get quicker and as such will defend thouse he works with as it is in his best interest.

Scarab Sages

Thinking about an elven Greensting Magus (replaces the magus ability to enhance their weapon, but can use their arcane pool to add sneak attack damage. In the Bastards of Golerian book) Just building him at the moment

Scarab Sages

I was thinking of doing an arcane caster of some sort.
Any idea as to were your going to be running the game? (Play by post or Google hangout?)

Scarab Sages

I'd be interested in playing. When/how are we going to do sessions? (eg PbP, or Google hangouts ect)

So long as the ToN AP is as good as the Way of the Wicked (I have no reason to think otherwise) I'll be a happy gamer.
I have several other AP's on list to get through that I want to play/run so ToN being delayed is no big issue for me.

All I'd ask from Gary is let us know now and then on how things are going. I'm cool with something being delayed so long as I feel like I'm being kept up to date! (Which you have done in the last week, more would be nice in future to keep us up to date with things)

Scarab Sages

I have to say I regularly pick up 3pp offerings. I have even backed a number of 3pp kickstarter's too.
I've even run 3pp AP's which (for at least the ones I've run) have been massively fun for me and my players. (Points to Fire Mountain Game's Way of the Wicked, and FGG's Slumbering Tsar.)

At my game while my players stick to Paizo classes/races/feats (etc) if they were to ask me to use something from a 3pp I'd not rule it out just because it wasn't Paizo's. (I might rule it out if it doesn't fit with the game, or is over powered, but I have ruled Paizo material out for the same reason)

3pp publishers are often able to do things that Paizo does not want to do (eg evil campaign or 900+ page mega AP's for example), and I thank 3pp for doing this. In my opinion it adds to my gaming experience in a good way.

Scarab Sages

Backed it myself.
Looking forward to it especially after the awesomeness of Way of the Wicked!

Scarab Sages

I'm looking forward to it too.
I saw the preview pic that was on the Fire Mountain Games facebook page of Grumblejack, and really loved it.
(In the game I'm running he and the halfling wealth distribution agent are running mates setting up many many sneak attacks, and he is a well loved NPC by the whole party)

Scarab Sages

I've got a number of their books, and I really like them.
Well balanced classes/feats often with an interesting team to them.
I have a general rule in games I run that if it comes from SGG it can be used.

Scarab Sages

Quick question, any news on when book VI is going to be released?

Scarab Sages

My group is just about to finish book 2 (just the last encounter to go), so I predict that I'll be starting book 3 in the next session. As and when we get started I'll let you know.

Having so much fun with this series. So easy to run (as a GM), especially as I have a group of 8. Rarely have I had to give anything even so much as the advanced template (just use good tactics :P).

Scarab Sages

Just got my box through the post today.
Love the books and goodies. The little frog is currently sat on top of my monitor looking at me!

Scarab Sages

My box is in my local sorting office, hopefully to be delivered tomorrow.

A mate of mine has got his (but at his parents house.. he got his own place now).

Figure's crossed when I get home from work tomorrow I'll have the big box of awesomeness to open :)

Scarab Sages

Number 140 of the Patron copies has arrived. Cannot stop myself read it!
Thanks to all the Kobolds, (and other patrons) for making the whole patronage of the project so much fun!

Cannot help to recommend the book and Kobold Press too much.

So long as you keep sending me your awesome books I don't mind :D

Scarab Sages

Loving the Patron PDF's ... just waiting on the book to get over to me. But post coming over the Atlantic can take a while!
Thinking of starting a Kingmaker game in Midgard too.

Scarab Sages

Sooo looking forward to the big box of Frog God goodness arriving.

I may have to make a Frog God gaming shelf to house my copy of Tsar and Rappan Athuk!

Scarab Sages

Many congratulations Gary.
It the quality and downright fun (to run and play) of WotW is anything to go by, I know I'll be getting alot more of your products in the future!

Scarab Sages

Had a look through the book and loving it. (Going to be a while till I run it though).

Awesome book, in an awesome AP.

Scarab Sages

I've had a flick through the archetypes. I'm now wanting to play the AP as well as run it!

Scarab Sages

I've had a look through all the pdf's and love them.
I've not read them fully as I'm playing in a RA game run by a mate who also pledged on Kickstarter project. (To make sure there are surprises in-store for me!)

Scarab Sages

The Pathfinder PDF tops out at 672 pages.
The Swords and Wizardry PDF tops out at 496 pages.
So I'd guess the print product will be the same.

Scarab Sages

As I'm also running Tsar, and one of the players in that game is going to be in RA, I've said his RA character can know (or even be related to) his Tsar game.
(Me and mentioned player may be co-DMing RA.. if so my character will I think will know one or more of the Tsar players)

Scarab Sages

Bill,
Many thanks! [Never thought I'd be getting suggestions from the writer of a campaign on how to start it! So awesome!]

There is a growing number of people over here in Nottingham (UK) that's loving your work. (Granted it's my fault!)

Scarab Sages

Random question to GM's who are either about to or are currently running running RA.
Were are you starting your campaign and what level?
Are you you starting your players out at level 1 starting at Zelkor's Ferry or at a higher level starting somewhere else?

Scarab Sages

Hi Frogs,
I think I may have spotted a little typo in the PDF.

Page 572 Archwizard Prestige Class.
In the "Spells" part of the Requirements it stats that you need to be able to cast 8th level spells.

In the Spells per Day/Spells Known section it reads "If a caster had more than one arcane spell casting class in which he could cast 7th level spells..." [Shouldn't this line say "... he could cast 8th level spells..."]

Scarab Sages

I had my last session on Sunday (just gone). The group had met Fire Axe, and started about thinking about the final section of the book.

From talking to my players all I've had are comments on how awesome the adventure is! [That's even after a near TPK in event 3 in Aldencross]

If your players make it there, you aren't evil enough.

Can I (mis)quote you on saying I'm not evil enough? [I've (without intent) killed one PC 4 times already in Tsar, and had a near TPK in my Way of the Wicked game]

Scarab Sages

Scarab Sages

Just downloaded the PDF's.
Thanks Bill/Skeeter/Blond Frog (and everyone else at FGGs)

Scarab Sages

I think I nabbed the last Local Hero! (I have an idea which character I'd like immortalized already!)

Scarab Sages

Gary,
I've been waiting for so long for an evil adventure path, and you've pulled it off so well.
I have loved reading the AP so far, and my players (3 sessions into the AP) seem to be having a ball playing Evil characters! [Even had them blowing the walls of Branscar with the barrels of lantern oil they found.. who said arsonist weren't useful!]

Scarab Sages

You got my vote Gary, in both categories.
(I didn't put you first on the favorite publisher vote, because FGG was in there too, and if I didn't put them first the Tsar hardback book would sneak attack me!)

Scarab Sages

Two questions:
Is there any more places up for grabs?
and is this a pbp or maptools/skype game?

Scarab Sages

I'm guessing the game isn't going to run tomorrow morning as there is only two of us? Or would you be willing to run it for two players while we seek more players?

Scarab Sages

Catprog wrote:

Sheets sent in so far:

Have you had any more character sheets for the game?

Scarab Sages

The session yesterday was called off, as the other players hadn't sent Catprog their character sheets.

I do not know how may players there are in the game as yet. Catprog is best placed to answer that one.
