Rule clarification - Age bonus / Penalties

Liberty's Edge 3/5

Hi all, I was curious if the rules for age penalties or bonuses apply in PFS play or if your stats remain as per base line stats regardless of age.

So for example if you are considered an old gnome in age = 100+ yrs, whether or not the age mods come into effect.

Silver Crusade 5/5

Age bonuses/penalties aren't used.

Be sure to download and read the Guide to PFS Organized Play. Character ability scores don't change due to age (page 7).

Awesome - thank you for that and the reference as well.

Time to build a 200 year old buff-as-hell Human Monk!

Silver Crusade 3/5

Well there is still the restriction you cannot be over the maximum age for your race. If that happens for any reason, your character is considered dead.

(I know you were probably joking, just pointing this out in just in case).

I myself have a dwarf inquisitor who is in the "old" age category. Going for the "strict traditional grandma" feel.

It was a joke, but the "wise old master" is a fantasy archetype that no age bonuses/penalties makes easier to pull off

People actually use age penalties?

Not in PFS, they don't.

No, what I was saying is that I was surprised that Nikolaus had to ask. I've never heard of or encountered anyone who uses age penalties, even in home games.

Not for players, but I use them when making NPCs. Not going to let someone pull an Ezren and become a Wizard 1 at the ripe old age of 70 for the extra mental stats.
