sake over coming dr?

My wife has invested in the feat to break her fragile weapons to auto crit?

A scabbard of vigor (1,800 gp) can provide a magic bonus to a weapon once per day.

Alternately, the feat Arcane Strike (if an arcane caster or having an arcane SLA) can make all your weapons magic for the purpose of overcoming DR for a swift action that round.

I thought Arcane strike did not work to overcome DR, it just give a bonus to damage.

"As a swift action, you can imbue your weapons with a fraction of your power. For 1 round, your weapons deal +1 damage and are treated as magic for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction." (emphasis mine)

The only problem with Arcane strike is you get to use it once per round. A character with multiple attacks cannot use it beyond the first.

Not true. You activate it once per round, but per the text quoted in the post before yours, the weapons stay magical for the full round.

Of course, this doesn't help the OP if the character in question isn't an arcane caster. There's always the Magic Weapon spell, which some non-arcane classes can cast. Or get the wizard standing next to you to cast it at the start of the fight.

That only works for DR/magic. DR/anything else is unaffected. It does work for the current purpose, but later on it won't help with tougher types of DR.

Yup, and that was the original question, so it's a good answer. Just not necessarily useful to the OP, since the rest of us don't know if the character in question is an arcane caster.

No the character in question is from mwangi and a vanilla fighter. One who doesnt want to "change"

The spell Magic Weapon is your best answer then. Heck, she could buy a Wand of it and loan it to anyone who can cast it to use on her weapons. It's a 1st level spell after all.

Grab a similar Wand of Bless Weapon, and make sure to have all three damage types (P,S, and B) and load up on various weapon blanches, and you're pretty well set. More so with UMD, but like I said, loaning them to spellcasters also works. As does having some Oils for backup on the Wands.

Scarab Sages

You could have someone cast magic weapon on them. Or pick up a wand that would do it. Also I believe there are one time use things like silversheen that can help out temporarily.

The wand ideas are probably what we will go with. Thanks for the suggestion.

The scabbard would be nice if it confered the bonuses more often. And the arcane strike doesnt fit concept.

Silver Crusade

Or just carry one magic weapon that she won't break, and save it for fights against things with DR/magic. Use the fragile weapons and break them only in fights against things that will be most affected by those. A fighter walking around carrying a variety of weapons for a variety of circumstances kind of fits, especially since we're already talking about someone who intentionally breaks weapons all the time.

Uses a femur for a club

Although the scabbard of vigor isn't a super clear application of "casting a spell x times a day" it seems logical you could apply that pricing scheme to it to increase its number of uses a day.

If she could use it 3 times a day it seems like it would be sufficient. Also can have fun with the 1 round awesomeness stuff.

The Penetrating Strike line of feats was meant for exactly this. Sadly, the prerequisites (12th/16th level fighter -- lolwut!) make it unusable by anyone who actually needs it, and the fact that it's two separate feats is even worse.

Scarab Sages

Is she interested in converting to sarenrae? The is a religion trait for her in inner sea gods called lightbringer that gives light as a SLA with a caster level equal to character level. That will qualify her for arcane strike.

That would be difficult as we are all followers of besmara. Skull and Shackles.

Our DM requires us to have new experiences that justify a change in character development. Such as multiclass or what not.

Alchemical weapon blanches get you past DR everything but magic. See very bottom of page under "w" for weapon blanch rules and costs.

Scarab Sages

What level are you now? If still low, a multiclass or retrain to Martial Artist Monk is possible for Sense Weakness to bypass DR. She would need a good Wisdom score though. I've always felt monk was a great class for mwangi to get a zulu warrior feel.

"Oh no, then what am I going to do with all these silver and cold iron daggers now that I am a high enough level that they are worthless, and might as well be disposable?"

It does work as a solution, because most of the other tricky DR can be handled by simply getting a few items with the appropriate material/damage type. Now DR/alignment is still going to be tricky, and DR/adamantine....is doable....but a LOT more painful on the wallet.

Although it won't help much with this femur wielding woman.....
