New Pathfinder Package for Virtual Tabletop

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

4 people marked this as a favorite.

I've uploaded a free package for any Virtual Tabletop programs to download that includes 67 maps, 140 character and monster sprites, and a few other tokens. But I've created this for Roll20 in mind. Instructions are included in the package. Please let me know what you guys think! I wanted to make it a visually pleasing tabletop game rather than the boring, flat maps and top-down sprites that they make that costs too much. So this package is completely FREE to download!

Here's the link for download: Link Redacted

To see what it looks like, look at the image here: Link Redacted

If you want, you can try it out on my campaign on Roll20 by signing up for an account (it's free) and then go here: Link Redacted

Be sure to sign in BEFORE using the URL, otherwise it'll take you to the sign up page. Please kindly put the sprites back in place after you're done! Thanks!

This is really nice from what I saw just on the login. You probably could have money with this. I will see how these work in an actual game and get back to you.

Thanks!! I would really appreciate that. Just take all the time you need, so there's no hurry. I am still experimenting a lot on the sprites and maps and coming up with many ideas. Right now I'm working on "hotkey skills" to help keep track of activated skills, something like in video games.

I would make money if Paizo could hire me. I can see myself working at Paizo already! But none of the artworks in the packages are mine, though. Anything I see that I like, I just grab them and edit them heavily in paint programs and then make them workable for most programs. If I could, I would LOVE to write stories and adventures for Paizo too. Since it's OGL, I will probably do that one day.

Scarab Sages

Dot for later.

Grand Lodge

Very nice work.

Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

Wow, strong work. Very much appreciated.

Dot.

Heads up VigorBird: some of the art is clearly ripped from a variety of sources, which may or may not violate the "fair use" terms of Paizo's OGL/Creative Commons stance. It's probably worth double checking.

Paizo Glitterati Robot

Removed the links. Please take a look at our Community Use Policy before distributing these for download.

I just realized these were remakes, so no selling allowed, but still, it looks nice.

edit: and now I see Chris's post.

if you can sort out the comunity use thing and get new links id love to see it, roll 20 is a great site and i always love more sprites to use there

I looked in the "Community Use Policy" and it seemed a little vague, but I think I sorta get it. My apologies. But I can remedy it by creating different materials to upload and distribute to the community so that it does not violate any policies, though that might take some time. Maybe I could ask Paizo for permission and have them look at the work and distribute them, so people can use some of the Pathfinder materials. But I'm not sure where or how to reach them. Even though I'm a graphic design wizard, I'm not too familiar with the copyright laws and such, so I don't really know how all that works. I will have to study about that soon. What I know so far is that copying for profit is stealing and I'm no rogue at that. Most of the stuff I make are usually for personal use anyway.

If you guys have any suggestions on how I can make it work better without breaking policies, I would love to hear about it. Or explain the policies a little more clearer in English so I can understand it better and see what I can do. Appreciate it, thanks.

To the best of my knowledge (and it's even more confusing than this considering that the original creators [TSR, WOTC, Paizo, etc.] have made public the rights to some creations in one media [printed books] but not others [miniature models]):

Short answer: anything graphical cannot be replicated for public use.

Long answer: The community use policy (and US law) says that the mechanics of the game can be freely shared, used, and built upon. However any artistic material is not allowed to be distributed unless Paizo specifically makes an exception. (US law shields personal use but not public distribution, even/especially if you are giving it away.)

The community use policy allows you to mention all the places, monsters, lore, people, deities, etc. as long as you are not profiting from them. However it does not allow redistribution of artwork of any kind.

I didn't see your original material but here are some examples:
1)Extracting the Bestiary picture of the Black Dragon and making a token you post a link to - NO
2)Drawing your own black dragon and making a token you post a link to - YES
3)Importing Flip-Mat: Waterfront Tavern to roll20 for a game you are GMing - YES
4)Linking the imported Flip-Mat: Waterfront Tavern for others to use - NO
5)Drawing your own "tavern by the water" map in roll20 and linking it for others - MAYBE (It depends on how close you hew to the original. If the art style and layout of the rooms are different you are probably good. The closer you get to the original in dimensions, coloration, etc. the more likely you are to be breaking the policy.)

You would have to create your own black dragon, giant, and so on, not just convert someone else's. You may not even convert images in the community use package. You may only redistribute them "as is".
