Xerice Lockhart |

A slim female with pitch black hair and eyes, blood red lipstick and a pale complexion enters the room and seductively says "Ah, I just love to parlay."
She has two whips at her belt and a decent set of armor which accentuates her curves. In her earlobes you can see two earrings in the form of wasps.
Greetings, Jolly's character here. Thanks for having me :). I'll go finish her crunch, shouldn't take too long. It's standard PFS build rules or do you have your own modifications on it as to items/traits allowed and what not?

Xerice Lockhart |

Crunch is up
I don't have a lot of skill points and we seem to have multiple charismatic characters. I might switch diplomacy for something else if others plan to take it.
Does anyone plan to take charm and suggestion spells?
If someone does I might switch to black powder inquisition as second domain (if it is allowed of course) to avoid overlap and have something fun to do when out of spells ;).

Cireth Aldwulf |

Hawk reporting in - crunch up. Looking to be a 'switch hitter' melee/caster and am making plans to go into Dragon Disciple.
Campaign trait allowed? I did use a campaign trait from the player's guide (Made K. Planes a class skill with a small bonus). I should be able to easilly switch it if need be.
Introduction will follow shortly.

Ezechias's crunch is more or less done - here's a first draft.
As far as crunch goes, he's a sword (scimitar) and board paladin. The choice of weapon comes from picking Sarenrae as a goddess, which is the only core god to have redemption in her portfolio. However, I'm not planning on taking Weapon focus, so that I'll be able to use most weapons we find instead on focusing on one type of weapon only. Ezechias hates undead as he considers most of them (those that aren't sentient) to be beyond redemption, thus feels ashamed of not being able to help them beyond slaying. As he knows well, undeads often require more than one type of weapon to be dealt with.
To answer your question Xerice, I plan to have Ezechias be heavily specialized in Diplomacy, since it's a very important skill to support the redeemer concept.

Xerice Lockhart |

Our cooperation will be an interesting one Ezechias, as Dhampir are sort of undead ;). Redemption? Pha! Revenge!
I might still take some diplomacy so that I can ensure that the will of Calistria is followed :P.
Seriously though we should think of how and why the two of us could work together at the start. I think you could be a perfect person to put some light in her heart, but it will be a tough one to set fire to.
Xerice will start as a very selfish individual, who uses whatever means necessary to reach her goals (up to a certain point).
Should be an interesting partnership to evolve over time.

Cassandra Blackmoore |

All set here (although it would be nice if someone could fit the language Aklo into their background somehow). Just need to purchase some additional gear and I'll be ready to go.

![]() |

Very promising indeed! As I pointed out earlier sentient undead are a whole other matter for Ezechias, as they still have (or so he believes) free will. In a way, he wants to believe that everyone can be saved from their ways. Xerice might even become a personal quest of his, understanding that it may take years before he manages to change her (if at all).
As for the both of us being trained in Diplomacy, we can use that to our advantage (aid another, for example).

Xerice Lockhart |

Cool cool, looking forward to it :). Xerice is quite broken thanks to her upbringing and other people's prejudice against her race.
I'll take some off points in Diplomacy but not too many, I'll focus mainly on bluff (someone has to take it and she will be killer at it and it suits her) and off skill points in sense motive and stuff like that. I hope someone else can take a bunch of knowledge skills, I don't have any room for them :(.
EDIT: Posted an introduction to the character, hope you like it. I don't think it is too raunchy but if it too far for someone let me know.

Caesare Montoya |

Well met fellow comrades, may I throw my hat in the crowed.
My name is Caesare Montoya.
Crunchwise I have 10 skillpoints and one skillfocus to offer. Soo... give me an idea where to spend it.

Cireth Aldwulf |

A focus on spellcraft might be nice. Eventually you will probably want at least one point in every knowledge, level 2 if you push it.
I'm going to push Knowledge Planes on my sorcerer. Maybe intimidate later, but not at first.

![]() |

Okay, mechanically he is ready, I'll write up backstory tommorrow, going to sleep now.
I have 5 knowledge skill so far, they are: Arcana, dungeoneering, engineering, nature, religion. That should cover a good amount.

![]() |

Before I start doing any real advenuring I changed a campaign trait. And my regular trait
I replaced reactionary with a campaign trait chance savior. They both say +2 init.
I replaced my original campaign trait inspired by greatness to make stealth a class skill. Highlander
In the end I still have one campaign trait and one normal trait, just wanted to let the DM know.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

I am informed. Once everyone's posted in the gameplay thread, we'll move right along to the funeral.

Xerice Lockhart |

Cassandra, please exclude Xerice from your channels, they will hurt her as a dhampir :). I will always try to exclude everyone, but can only exclude 4 characters. I am mobile enough so will try to block someone out. If there really is no other option and we need a channel because of a lot of mooks, I will target the one with the highest will save.

Xerice Lockhart |

Please do not do that. People will roleplay their characters and take their scores into account. It is very unpleasant if other people force your character into a certain position.
For instance my characters low intelligence comes from her lack of any education so she has little to no knowledge of math and education. She is still cunning and knows how to handle herself in social situations due to experience.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Caesare Montoya |

If you do I will, but... please use simple words. Some of the best demagogues (unpleasant example Hitler) were incredibly uneducated. They could deliver a strong statement with plain words. Can we agree on that?
And intelligence is intelligence not education.
Its ability to think logically how well you can learn.
Education is skill points and the abilities you learned on the way.
Wisdom is gut feeling. Common sense.

Xerice Lockhart |

That is exactly how I planned it and will try to play it. She will have a hard time learning new things. As to the vocabulary. I'm not a native english speaker so sometimes I don't know the simpler versions of the words. But will try to do much with simple words.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Xerice Lockhart |

Think of her as a typical politician. They may not be smart or very well learned. But they have a way with words, can easily sway opinions and are able to figure out how to manipulate others for their own agenda's.

Xerice Lockhart |

What happens exactly when I charm an NPC and it:
fails, what will their reaction normally be, do they know they have been charmed, will they always know who tried it if I did it from a distance or in a busy bar?
succeeds, and runs out, Will they know they have been charmed or will they think, hmm why did I think she was so nice and nothing else?
For instance if I want to charm a normal villager into getting more information out of him.
Xerice has charmed many people in her days, but every GM takes a different approach, so what is yours James?

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

I would rule that if the NPC is the sort of person to know what a charm spell looks like and rolls a decent spellcraft to notice it, then they might react poorly if the charm fails. If they're just a random villager and the charm spell fails, I imagine they wouldn't notice much of anything.
Once the charm runs out, if they're not spellcasters, then they'd simply remember liking you a bit more that day and probably just shrug it off. Unless, of course, the spell states otherwise.

Xerice Lockhart |

Ok, because in that case Xerice will try her charm person spell on a random villager to see if she can get just a little more information out of him. It seems they were all quite afraid but maybe if he/she thinks I am his/her friend it will help getting information.
DC would be 13 I think.

Cassandra Blackmoore |

Sorry for the lack of posting recently but the 4th of July weekend is usually a busy time for me, what with the holiday itself and 3 family birthdays within a five day span (my daughter's on the 3rd, my wife's on the 5th, and my sister's is on the 7th).

![]() |

Kids, I'm going to nitpick. Until and unless I state 'Everyone sees X', if I say that something was only seen by certain characters, then kindly wait until that character has shared his/her spottings before acting on that information. Let's keep the metagaming to a minimum.
Bringing the discussion here not to pollute the gameplay thread. Actually, you didn't even mention that Ezechias was going into the alleyway, which I specified.
Later as they hear the sounds from the alley, Ezechias immediately grasps Hope's shaft and walks with a hasty pace towards the sounds. "Who is this?"
As Cireth, Caesare and Zanu peer into the darkened alley, only Cireth and Caesare can see that a scuffle between two men is taking place. One appears to be a local guardsman while the other is dressed in a sleeping gown and night cap and wields what seems to be a razor blade.
You didn't ask for a Perception check either, so I didn't roll any. Could you please ask for a roll in ooc next time so that I don't miss that opportunity? Thanks.

Xerice Lockhart |

Cassandra still missing? Should we gmpc her to keep the combat going?

Xerice Lockhart |

Gm any idea on the whereabouts of our oracle? Really hope she comes back since we could really need her.
If she is unable to continue we might need another positive divine caster. Another option is giving Xerice the variant channel or control undead feat so she can affect any nasty undead we will be meeting and do some healing if needed. The character is very starved for feats since she wants to focus on her negative channels and inflict spells to help the party in combat besides her normal spells. I don't mind the challenge though the lack of positive power could make it hard.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Cassandra's player is having some issues in Real Life. If you wish to re-stat your character, you're welcome to do so.
Edit: Given that Carrion Crown is set for 4 players and we have 6, even if we lose Cassandra, I'm not likely to replace her.

![]() |

Also, we would have had time to head back to town after that fight. I think it would be time to divide up that loot from the first fight. I was waiting till we had time to divide it up and sell off what we don't need.
Ie. We were back in town to divide it up.

Caesare Montoya |

First Caesare would see everything as a loan for a dire emergency! I am not sure how our paladin would react to selling any of it. Second I do not see anything I would sell! I think I would prefer to buy a bow and stuff.
Second. I know that Xerice wanted to play an unholy channeler, so I can understand VERY much if she does not to re stat her character. If she does KUDOS from my side.
Third. Please this is the undead and Horror AP. Let us enter it and live in horror and fear!

![]() |

true and these are holy objects which is exactly why we should divide them up, even if we don't sell them off. We need these things to protect us from undead. I can't just pull out a holy water out of the group loot in the middle of combat if it is not on my person, that would not make a whole lot of sense to me.
As far as xerice goes, she can still use cure light wounds, right?

![]() |

To be clear, I'm more like asking the DMs ruling of dividing of loot.
and clarification as to what is there, because I was a little confused, will edit a minute.
Do we take the sell value of everything and can only claim our part. ie. sell value 1000 GP and each person takes only 200 gp worth of stuff?
Each person gets an equal number of items regardless of price?
Do we just say, I grab this out of the party loot and it is ours? Etc.
Edit: to recap loot
The items inside are adozen silver arrows, four sun rods, six f lasks of holy water, 10 +1 arrows, five +1 ghost touch arrows, two +1 undead bane arrows, five potions of cure light wounds, two potions of lesser
restoration, a scroll of detect undead, two scrolls of hide from undead, a scroll of protection from evil, and a thin darkwood case decorated with an image of a scarab with a single eye glaring from its back—the same design that appears on the cover of the Manual of the Order of the Palatine Eye among the books in the professor’s collection. The darkwood case is worth 50 gp, and contains three objects of interest—a spirit board with a brass spirit planchette, and four iron and glass vials containing tiny, churning clouds of vapor. The vials sit in velvet-lined indentations to the left of the spirit board and planchette, along with six empty indentions—the professor made off with most of the vials but left these four behind. The six vials are all valuable magic items called haunt siphons.
Like I said, I'm confused about what is there, is there 6 or 4 vials? Or are there 6 vials of one thing and 4 of another.

![]() |

I agree, we need to divide the loot, keep stuff like the spirit planchette as "group loot", but expendables and other things need to be given.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

The six vials comment is a typo. There are 4 haunt siphons.
And I'm letting you divide up the treasure as you all see fit.

Xerice Lockhart |

Im suggesting grabbing a communal wand of clw for Xerice so she can heal. Ill take versatile channel for emergency heals and undead slaying. Prolly retrain out of it later if the amount of undead drops off :p.

Just to let you know, I'll be at the GardenCon from Thursday to Sunday. I'll try to check the boards as much as I possibly can, butI don't expect to be able to keep the pace for these four days. Feel free to bot me accordingly.

Cassandra Blackmoore |

Sorry for the unexplained absence all. But I had the perfect storm of personal coincidences coalesce last week. Last Monday my Mother-in-Law, who has Dementia, forgot she had taken her evening medication and accidentally retook them. My Father-in-Law, who also has early onset Dementia, called 911 and the result was an overnight stay in the hospital. They currently have a caregiver who is with them from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. but apparently need 24 hour care. Both adamantly refuse to move off the farm where they live and into any sort of assisted living facility so my Wife and I have been searching for some live-in caregiver.
Even though we live almost 200 miles away we are the closest immediate family to them and have been trying to conduct interviews over the phone while we rely on various Aunts and Uncles to keep an eye on them.
Coupled with that is the minor inconvenience of an app that I downloaded two weeks ago not shutting down properly and running in the background of my phone, sucking up over 5.5 Gig of my 6 gig wireless data plan. While that may not seem like a big deal I do about 80% of my postings at work using my phone's hotspot for my laptop.
Good news is that we seem to have found someone who my In-laws like that is willing to take over after their morning caregiver goes home and stay overnight until the next morning starting this Monday. All of my wife's family, including an out of state brother and sister, are going to be visiting the family farm to celebrate my wife's and her twin brother's 50th birthday this weekend and to discuss the current situation, so I won't be on very much this weekend starting Friday. Also I get a fresh packet of data starting tomorrow and should be able to begin posting from work again.
If you still wish to remove Cassandra from the game please go ahead I can understand. There would be no hard feelings (Hell, if were me I would've already removed myself).
Thank you for your understanding.

Xerice Lockhart |

Very much so.
We always understand family issues. And it sounds like a tough one.
We would be happy to have to stay with us, not only because Xerice is not waiting for a role where she has to heal all her "buddies" constantly ;).

![]() |

Cassandra is back!
Also as far as loot.
I don't have dark vision, so I will take a sunrod. anyone without darkvision should grab one.
I am occassionly upfront so I will take one cure light wounds potion
There are 6 flasks of holy water, so one for everyone.
Does the darkwood case have a use, or do we just sell that?
The scrolls should go to who can use them.
So for me
1 cure light wounds potion
1 sunrod
1 holy water

Caesare Montoya |

It cassandra could please heal the paladin, so we do not waste a potion. And wich part of loan was hard to understand? We need it to protect people not to fatten our wallet. And you can for my part steal from any evil deity, but if you try to steal from pharasma, the one every one eventually meets I will step on your toes. With a sledgehammer. Repeatly

![]() |

okay, but what does the darkwood case do? I can't find the item anywhere on any of pathfinder's sites. Is it just a storing case of some kind? All I can find is darkwood, which weighs half as much normal wood, but I can't find the item itself.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

It's a case that holds the very fragile haunt siphons. It's a nice case, made to hold magic items that will break and release deadly negative energy that will kill you. Even a magic item needs packaging sometimes.

Cassandra Blackmoore |

Sorry all, what with the craziness that happened last week it has only driven home the point that I have once again overextended myself with my games and need to cut back.
James, thank you for keeping a spot open for me and I seriously regret leaving. You have my sincere apologies but it's better that I leave now before I get too emotionally involved with my character and the story progresses too far.
I wish all of good luck and good gaming.
