yet another noob question

What does add 1-1/2 your strength modifier mean sorry for all this questions.

It means if your strength ability score is say, 18, that gives you a +4 ability modifier to melee damage. Getting 1-1/2 means you instead deal +6 damage on a successful melee attack.

You have a strength modifier of +2. You add 3 to whatever you're adding to (damage?)

Just to clarify if your strength modifier is 19 1-1/12 is still +6. you round down.

If your modifier is 19 and you add 1-1/12 it's +20. (IK, IK, typos, but I'm posting this just to not cause confusion). But yes, very important, you always round down.

They're right. It doesn't mean 1 subtracted with 1/2: it means 1.5x you modifier.

1-1/2 is Paizo's clunky way of writing 'one and a half', where 1.5 or 3/2 would arguably be simpler and clearer.

By the way, do we round up or round down odd halves here?

Always round down, as said in nearly any post above your.

Thanks I think I understand. I am sure I will be back to ask more questions.
