I've seen you several times now, and I think I still don't understand your brilliant idea.

Saw my item for the 5th time, and luckily not paired with any one of my favorites!

Just saw an item that appears soaked in magic.

That's what I like to do after a hard day of insurance sales. I run a hot magic bath and just soak in it.

It smells like mango.

Luckily there's a magic towel to dry yourself afterwards.

Thanks... person who said something nice about my item! A curse on the person that said something less positive (specifically for being correct).

You're lucky. I've only had the latter one (including the part about being correct)

I will continue to stare at you, asian fan item, until I figure out why I'm having a déjà-vu.

Seems like a lot of Perform (X) items, one of which I quite like.

These are of course not for sure, good or bad, but I'm reasonable sure. There are about another 100+ negative comments and maybe a half-dozen positive that could be mine.

Don't be so sure that there aren't positive responses. People seem even more careful posting those comments. There are not as many great items so it makes sense to use caution (not to break the rules about specifics). There are plenty of items I like that I can't say anything about (or someone else might hate). Even the judges disagree about items (or so it seemed in previous years from reading the threads).

Okay...rainbow poop, check.

This has got to be an item SKR snuck in here, right?

Whoo...gotta catch my breath.

To quote my favorite game "Gimme the Brain": "Look, a monkey!"

Marathon Voter Season 7

Your item does what? And then this? That is... supercool. Whoever you are, unknown author, I klicked the button three times, just for moral support. But I have to tell you, I immediately though this:

*Redlettermedia voice* "What is wrong with your faaaaace?"

Starting to worry: 30 pages of this thread and the praise thread, and I haven't seen a comment on either that I could reasonably apply specifically to my item. :/

Heh, I think a little alliteration goes a long way and I never down vote just for that, but when they start to make up words or just force it which is generally obvious then I get annoyed.

lol, yeah I'm not saying never alliterate. It's just one of those things like attunement periods. Nothing wrong with it, but you just see it over and over again.

Your item costs several thousand gp to make and I also need a rodent? Infuriating! Who can meet prerequites like that? Madness! Where will it end?

The problem for me is when it sounds forced, like the writer either wanted to get everything with an "A" or "T" sound no matter what, or because they wanted alliteration and it had to have this one particular word as part of the name.

One wonders what would happen if you walked into the average town wearing some of these items.

People would scream and run, I'd imagine. Constabulary might get involved.

In my campaign, I might have some of the people wearing blood-dripping items fined for littering and creating a public health hazard.

Marathon Voter Season 7

Sweets vs. confected feet? Yuck, those pictures in my mind...

Again, another item crippled by being too short. If that idea had been thought out more, it could have been really cool.

I know we discussed this last year and it will come up in the critique threads, but I can't wait that long - Please do not use the phrase (or any similar phrase to this) "The true power of the item is revealed when you..." Your items MUST be in an active voice and it really needs to be dynamic. This phrase is not dynamic. Please take this phrase out of your phrase vocabulary.

Thank you.

"X of Y" is a solid naming formula. Usually. This one I'm not buying though. Some words just don't go together, like if I made an item called the Ox of Gracefulness.

That's short for Oxymoron of Gracefulness, right?

Sorry, I wasn't listening... What moron?

Spoiler:
I am recalling a joke reaction to word oxymoron, not implying that authors of poorly designed items are ones.

Mamaursula reveals her true powers of criticism when you read her posts in the critique thread after the Top 32 reveal. Until then she is a perfectly average poster.

Magic items for fantasy RPGs are usually the wrong place to start with Technobabble.

Name suggest completely different type of item than it is. I had to restart reading it because I got lost due to completely different expectations...

I'm voting for you because your item is clever, useful and mechanically pretty sound. Tip for next year however: Lose the backstory, it will cost you votes.

Monkeys vs. Rampant Alliteration: Go!

And the competitor is really neat item with nice idea. Overpriced for its capabilities but showing that the author might have a great potential. I might even create a keep-file...
