Odyssey
A Greek Source Book for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game

So you guys asked for it* so we made it! We did a small, cheap, quick play Greek campaign setting for Greek games in Pathfinder. The book totals between 10-15 pages and will be launching on Thursday night! Get your epic on!

Included:

  • Greek Gods: The 12 Olympians, their alignments, domains, favored weapons, etc.
  • How To Play a Greek Game (The Sea, Flaws, Acceptable Racee, Bronze Age Weapons, The Gods, Magic, and "Only Artifacts")
  • Greek Equipment
  • New Races (Amazon, Satyr, Minotaur, Centaur, and the 1/2 God Template)

*In various threads and PMs but mostly in the discussion on the Heroes of the West book.

I want this...so bad oxo I love this kind of material especially since I'm doing Wilderlands conversions.

I also just like the Hellenic Era :D

    Keep talking; I’m listening....

Ah, I also forgot- we have an Amazonian Warrior fighter archetype which plays with the Amazon's racial traits.
PDF is formatted and whatnot, we just have a little last min editing fixes and a few tweaks to make before we launch Thursday.

Dot dot dot-ta dot dot dot dooooooooooooot

With the final editing, it is 10 pages long.

    Liberty's Edge

    Sounds good. :)

    Sovereign Court

So, what does this draw upon? Greek myth or history? And which mythic age?

We draw pretty liberally from pre-Roman history. I'd say we start around the adoption of hoplites as the predominate form of heavy soldier (a case could be made for 600-400 BC). We mention rules for bronze age weaponry if you want to set something earlier, but this is really a source book for the setting mechanics.

We include the 12 olympians and satyrs so we are obviously going with some aspects of the myths of Greece (basically fantasy Greece rather than historical Greece).

    Liberty's Edge

Each of the races gets a full write up as a playable race, right? Other than the half-god which you pointed out as a template, I would assume.

Amazon, Satyr, Centaur, and Minotaur are all player races.
I think only the centaur has a level adjustment (and that is only 1).
In addition, minotaur has alternate racial traits and amazon has it's racial archetype.

    Liberty's Edge

    Cool. :)

    Sovereign Court

Sounds cool, any magic items? Any way to include mythic?

This is a small supplement (10 pages) so doesn't branch out into mythic content. It includes rules for a handful of new weapons and armor that can be made magical. We do have rules on how you should handle magic items in a Greek campaign though.

So if this small supplement does good, can we expect more goodies to go along with it?

Bought and downloaded. I’ll compile a list of suggested typo-corrections and send them in by PM - it’s about the only way to shut up the nitpick-prone portion of my brain [rolleyes] - then come back and explore the awesome in greater detail. ;)

We'd be happy to make any changes you have. We haven't received your PM however.

Pesky RL got in the way. :( Expect it in 1d6 hours.

So trace, what was your favorite thing in the doc?

    (PM sent, BTW.)

To your question, christos gurd, there’s actually a few things warring with me on that score.

    — The gear offers the chance to do the ‘hoplite spear-and-shield’ routine, much like that movie where Brad Pitt and Eric Bana fought a duel.

    — The suggestion of playing this as a Bronze Age setting puts all manner of ideas in my head. (I keep getting an image of Rise of the Runelords playing out in this environment, with Belor Hemlock as a Shoanti in full hoplite panoply and elves like Shalelu being exotic partly because they wear iron/steel weapons and armour so casually.)

    — The stats for the Amazon ‘race’ look like a good fit for the legends, though the synergy between ‘Misandry’ and ‘Strength of Will’ could make life very, very unpleasant for any man who thinks charm person is a good idea. }:)

More may come later — RL is attacking again. :(
