We are planing to play a 2 man show .
We are both brothers and halflings . That much is set, rest is open.
We won't need a healer cause we will have a healer npc. And no casters .
Can a halfling be a monk? Or will it be lame ? ( send a built please)
Can a halfling be an effective barbarian ? Fighter ? Rogue ?
Link your best build. . ( melle no caster only )

Hafllings can be very effective two weapon fighting sneaking rogues, thought it is arguable that their damage output is not great, but my brother plays one and he doesn't suck. Halfling a are also effective archer paladins (see the guides).
Generally a melee focused haflin barbarian, fighter, paladin, monk will not be effective, but may be fun to play for kicks and giggles.

Halfling Cavalier can be great. Specifically because you ride a medium mount and won't have nearly as many problems using mounted combat in a dungeon.
Any sort of Dex based rogue works well too. I personally like a Halfling Sniper with a sling staff. Sniping may not be a good option though since you are just a 2 man crew.
Rogue Scout is pretty great.
Halfling invisible blade ninja.
Dex based halfling TWF fighter.
Losing 2 str does not preclude you from making any sort of build. Its not 100% optimized, but that doesn't mean its not effective.

Ravingdork has a monster halfling fighter in his emporium for ideas.
The halfling opportunist is a fun prestige class to build to.
I always thought the katana or wakizashi could be other words for Halfling curved swords (as opposed to an Elven Curved Sword), because the ninja is a great class.
cheers

The Underfoot Adept monk archetype can be fun IF you know you'll be fighting a lot of humanoids with class levels.
Against monsters who are often flying, multi-legged, or simply have "CMD: no" as levels increase it is less worth it.

Honestly, this sounds like a FANTASTIC opportunity for a stealth campaign. Usually stealth is strictly limited to scouting, since there's no way the heavy armor guys are getting through an area undetected. With two halflings, though, you could definitely get away with it.
Here's what I'm thinking: one of you goes Rogue/Ninja, one of you goes Ranger (with the non-spellcasting archetype if you prefer). You can both get excellent stealth; the ninja can handle diplomatic situations and disable device, and get UMD, while the ranger can handle survival and stuff in that area and be an awesome archer. You guys can even take Stealth Synergy to be crazy amazing at stealth.
I don't know how it would work with your NPC, but IMO if you could play the campaign the same way with a pair of Dwarfs you're missing out.

It is a very nice archetype for Halfling monks. Combine it with Maneuver master and add dirty trick to your repertoire. It has been suggested to multiclass with druid for the air elemental wild shape for even more tripping goodness.
You can make great bards too. Archeologist is a good archetype. Halfilng opportunist is a fun PrC to use together.
Other than that, gunslinger, archer paladin, zen archer, oracle, sorcerer are all good choices.

You probably won't have much with combat maneuevers as a small character. You'd think a nimble monk halfling jumping up and poking a giant in the eyes would work and be awesome, but by rules as written it's nigh impossible since it's your CMB against the giant's CMD.
What level are you starting at, and would it be possible to get Agile weapons or an Agile Amulet of Mighty Fists?

If then i recommend the halfling racial monk archetype underfoot adept.
That one is awesome at tripping and you get a lot of boni.
Multiclassing there is not the best idea i fear, since a lot of stuff comes in at later levels or scales with level. I would concentrate on one. As a cavalier you probably want to charge a lot and overrun enemies with your mount. Your teammember could then make use of the AoO´s, but would need some defense of his own.
As a monk you are kind of versatile, but you don´t do that much damage as a small monk. In a low magic world monks can be quite good though i think.

So final options are : (.for me)
Archer
ranger ( not switch hitter) or Zen archer or archer fighter
With favorite class option : manuver user monk
Rogue - either ninja scout or knife master scout
Analysis :
Ranger - good skills and saves , ok damage , mount with boon companion
Zen - no need to choose feats - all you need is in ine place
Fighter - only archer that can do manuver afar
Monk - with hafling archetype can be a good grappler and tripper but lose a lot at high level I think since str will be low
Rogue - with cha and dex - can be a good knife hitter and thrower, either ninja for vanish or rogue for 1d8 sneaks
