Where are the dragons?

Pathfinder Society

Simple Question. I realize the obvious answer and the "cute" answers, but seriously: Where are the dragons?

5/5

Waiting patiently to ambush intrepid Pathfinders in some scenarios...

Just waiting to attack in others.

EDIT: A dragon is still a fairly rare creature, and in general, a higher CR than most scenarios call for. They're also usually an intelligent foe with a purpose, so they really need to fit the story in someway or they can just feel tacked on, as happened in a season 2 scenario, IMO.

Liberty's Edge

Very first adventure in the Beginner's Box has a dragon...
(Oops, spoiler alert!)

There are a few dragons out there. At least one sanctioned module has a dragon on the cover. There is a PFS special basically devoted to them.

Dragons are generally about the nastiest thing for a given CR (especially if played smart). I'm reasonably not happy seeing much of them.

Unhelpful comment alert!

Wait, are they not in the dungeons?

I've seen a few. Three or four in scenarios, two in modules, a few in a special. They're about as rare as you'd expect.

I'm hoping to run The Dragon's Demand for my home group soon. Does that count?

I can think of 3 scenarios off the top of my head with dragons as encounters.

Double checked the CRs, chromatic dragons start at CR 2 but you won't be fighting the big nasty winged thing of legends if your fighting a wyrmling. They do tend to be old, intelligent, and terrifying however so I wouldn't put money on them being just any old creature you'd find in a dungeon.

They've been endangered since those guns came out. Darn touch ACs.

Dragons Unleashed has 15 different dragons and their lairs for GMs to use in their games. (Some of the dragons have showed up in other Campaign Setting books as mentions.)

I'll run Siege of the Diamond City for your high level character sometime. :)

Sounds like fun, Tri. Sadly, in all of the sessions I've been in...not a single dragon.

If you are up for online gaming, Aethercon is having a run of Siege next month.

The dragon slayer thread kind of gives a list of dragons via drawing out the people who have fought them. You should be able to glean some scenarios from them, if you're looking for them. If someone twists my arm I might compile that list for you, assuming that's what you're after.
