Where in Golarion would you place the Isle of Dread

Advice

Heya! I'm tinkering with the idea of bringing the Isle of Dread into Golarion, but I'm kinda at a loss of where to put it, though. There isn't any place that seems ideal to me. Any body out there with an idea.

In case anyone wonders, the Isle of Dread is this Classic island from the old X1 module from Classic D&D....

Hope you can help, Oh Mighty Board-walkers!

I'd probably recommend The Shackles region, perhaps just a little further west of the Shackles so it's in rarely sailed waters.

I thought you meant the Isle of Dread from Fire Emblem.

Nah, I meant This Isle of Dread ;)

West of the Shackles... Could be a good place. It should be far enough away from regular sailed waters but still within "known" territory..

The Exchange

I found a made of Golarion that I like and it shows (unofficial map btw) the whole world.
I would put it, on that map, below Azlant just above the "N" on the compass in the Arcadian Ocean. It needs to be sort of out of direct shipping areas and somewhat in the middle of nowhere and that to me fits the bill nicely.

I think either in the shackles as the others said, or somewhere towards arcadia. The shackles is better because much of the islands exising theme fits with the shackles and mwangi stuff in the game.

Actually haven't looked over this module in a while, ii may do that later.

What about replacing the isle of terror with the isle of dread?

Scarab Sages

The Isle of terror holds some pretty big history (Whispering Tyrant, Aroden) that I do not think fits well with the isle of dread, nor would I think the Isle of Dread would fit well into the Lake Encartan region - it would probably take some work to work that together.

I have put the Isle of Dread halway between the Shackles and Mediogalti, a bit west of the border of the Inner Sea Region map.

Considering the dinosaurs and wilderness theme there, I'm thinking near the area of Mediogalti Island, aka the Mantis Assassin's island. The big island just west of the Eye of Abendego.

Seconding this. Minata is also a good area.

Thanks... You've given me some good ideas to work with :)

In the ocean.

I'm actually in a game that went there, and we established that it was somewhere in shattered azlant.

Oh, I really like that idea, it introduces a lot of fun possibilities, and fits with the original intent of having it way-way-way offshore with no hope of contacting civilization without a long voyage.

Will have to try Pathfinderizing it myself sometime, despite it probably being my most-played D&D module back in the day. I almost kinda want to make Mystara (which holds a special nostalgic place in my heart as the location of most of my early campaigns) accessible from Golarion in my game, but I'm torn between that and just merging in the things I want (although having sunken Alphatia = Azlant could be an idea!)

What if it was a floating island?

West of the Shackles is the obvious location; I actually played a Pathfinder game where the GM adapted this module for us. It was a blast.

You should check out the 3.5 AP Savage Tide, its basically a sequal to the X modules.

Alot of questions you have will already be answered.

West of the Shackles close enough to Azlant to make you afraid. Close enough to the western continent to be far away.
