Can a 7th level Paladin, who takes Greater Mercy at 3rd, Extra LoH at 5th, and Ultimate Mercy at 7th, with a 20 Charisma, totally raise the dead?

Silver Crusade

Yes.

As a paladin (warrior of the holy light) you can do it at 5th! (even 4th).

Likely rich or VERY popular as well!

4th level = 2 uses
20 chr = 5 uses
warrior of the holy light 4th = +1 use
1st: Extra lay on hands = +2 uses
3: Greater Mercy
5: Ultimate Mercy

Take the oath of vengance and the investment can feed extra smite evils.
You loose casting but spells are the devils work.

A true holy warrior! the holy light needs no adherence to false deities and idols!!

Starting with 19 chr is a pain, 17s cost heaps. I suggest a 15 start point for an easy 17 and:
a. use a +2 stat item if dm allows to boost you.
b. wait till 6th to 'RAISE THE DEAD' as you just need a 19 chr to qualify for the feat NOT 10 uses of lay on hands and at 6th get +1 use from level.
c. be human and get extra lay on hands

Note: if you started with a 19 chr human and if you REALLY wanted you could be raising the dead at 4th!!
But again thats your 4th lev stat point gone AND a starting 17 which is 13 stat points on point buy!

Unless that archetype is different, you cannot take Extra Lay on Hands at first level, can you?

Nope, you sure can't. And the archetype isn't different. You can't take a feat for a class feature you don't have.

Bracers of the Merciful Knight increase your effective level for Lay on Hands by +4. That gives you 2 extra uses of LoH per day, which should make it easier to muster the 10 uses needed for Ultimate Mercy.

Avoiding 5,000gp of the "death tax" is nice, but it is usually your buddies who are saving gold, not you, so it is kind of an altruistic feat. I took it mostly for RP reasons, but it has come in handy a couple of times such as when the familiar I got via Eldritch Heritage got breathed on by four black dragons.

Are Shinanegans like vegans, but only eat food from the Shinan District of Qingdao in the Chinese province of Shandong?

Silver Crusade

1 person marked this as a favorite.

We need a LG god of trickery so that the term Shenanidin can be a thing.

At lvl 2 retrain your 1st level feat into Extra Lay on Hands.
Done.

Not allowed. You must have been able to take a feat at that level when retraining. Since you do not get Lay on Hands until level 2 you can never retrain feats gained at first level into Extra Lay on Hands.

I remember that got FAQ'ed, never saw the response, I'm actually happy to be wrong.

If you can find a GM that will let you retrain into an illegal build.

Not at my table.
