As painful as it is to clean and get rid of the good smells, it's better sooner/now than later when they have a chance to ferment.
The giardiniera I added to a pizza to 'spice it up' years ago was amazing. The oils baking into the sides and bottom of the oven not so much after a week.

What is the smallest set of operations you need to perform on an outline structure to represent all the useful mappings and transformations of that structure when extracting the notion of the spaces portion of the machine described in the Loaf Question to enable transclusions in a classic enfilade? An ent?

It depends on whether the tangles are legacy or not.
If they are, then there will be a complicated and costly procedure to introduce new tangles to take the weight of the old tangles, then on the new arrangement the tangles may be safely removed. Otherwise in that case one will always have tangles.
If the tangles are not legacy then one is free to get them all out to the best of one's knowledge.
