Hello Jolly people.
Last session, my darling Silvanshee familiar got fried by dragonfire, and died.
That kinda sucked seeing as I play a witch, but luckily we revived it with a True Resurrection scroll, and everything was fine.
The event got me thinking however.
I kinda want to improve my familiar's survivability a little more, and I was wondering if there was any neat ways to do this?
Info:
13th level NG Half-Orc Witch with the Hedge Witch Archetype.
I have yet to select my 13th level feat.

I hadn't even thought of that. Any gear you'd advice?
Gear for familiars can vary table by table on what's allowed, but cloaks of resistance (or some version to get it on a 'pet') if allowed are God(s)sends. Biggest threat I've found to familiars is AoE stuff, because usually smart playing can keep them outside of danger aside from that. They're cheap as magic items go too, since it's coming (largely) out of your PCs WBL allowance that's good.
AC isn't entirely useless, so Rings of Protection aren't a wash (again, rings on familiars varies game by game)
Rings of Invisibility too (same issue though, YMMV)

Well i dont think a witch can do it but i improved my familiar on my wizard by getting the biggest and strongest one i can find then proceeded to cast form of the dragon on it. Gotta love that share spell ability it made my familiar pretty beast especially with the breath weapon ability it got from the spell.

Amulet of natural armor, bracers of armor, cloak of resistance, dusty rose prism ioun stone, jingasa of the fortunate soldier, ring of delayed doom, and ring of protection all come to mind.
All that will add +20 AC and +5 saves; will allow the negation of critical hits, sneak attack; and makes it so you can delay nastier effects in the hopes of resolving them before they come into effect.

Wow So many nice suggestions, thanks alot to all of you.
As soon as I get some money, I think i'm going shopping :)
Is there anything else I could add to the familiar? I've spoken a little with my GM and he seemed quite open to suggestions.
I've previously been allowed to make my own Hex, so using those is also an option.
I've also looked into templates, but he didn't allow the eternal template unless I gave up all hexes and 10 feats :P
I've still to decide on my 13th level feat.
I've looked at the Evolved Familiar feat, but I don't have the stats to take it.
In any case thanks for the help so far, I hadn't thought of gearing up my familiar at all.

re: gear, there is a table in the Animal Archive (also on d20pfsrd) which details which class of creature has which item slots to equip, in addition to which there is slotless items like ioun stones. PFS goes greatly expands that limitation, in that companions and familiars can only use neck (amulet) and barding slots by default, and you must spend a feat for them to access ONE additional slot from the list normally granted by the AA table. PFS also flat out bans all creatures except a small and specific list from activating magic items, and both of those rules are not really needed in a home game, just using the full AA table is considered 100% in line with the RAW.
