blindness / deafness question

Rules Questions

Is the blindness spell dispellable? If so, why is there a remove blindness spell at the same spell level as dispell?

We have always ruled it is not dispellable, but I blinded a PC so he is all butt hurt and petitioning the GM... Just want to know where to find the ruling on this please. Thanks.

If your caster level check is equal to or higher than the DC of that spell, it ends. No other spells or effects on the target are dispelled if your check is not high enough to end the targeted effect.

Why in the world would any cleric prepare remove blindness in the morning and even more so why would an oricle ever this as a spell known.

Do the same rules also apply to magical disease, and poison then?

Remove Blindness/Deafness works on all sources (natural or magical) of the aforementioned two conditions, not just the single Necromancy spell. You do not need to beat a Caster Level check to succeed.

The Poison and Contagion spells are Instantaneous duration. Dispel Magic does nothing.

Joefro,

First, I wouldn't prepare remove blindness. I prefer to leave a slot open for those types of spells and use a scroll in combat if it really is important.

Second, Remove Blindness has a 100% success rate while Dispel Magic does not.

I actually prefer a potion of remove blindness on hand, in case I get blinded. The scroll doesn't do much good if it is the caster that is blinded. :-)

Matthew Morris, good point. :) However, since we are really talking about divine spellcasters, who usually have good fort saves, they are less likely to fail anyhow. (Witch is the main exception here.)
