If not, why not? The unarmed fighter has a better list of weapons that are "monk" weapons than the Monk Class.

With all the faqs and erratas being done lately, can we get a ruling or some expansion of the proficient weapons based on 5 more books, one of them with a specific eastern section?

I appreciate the Design team and their constant updates, even the ones I don't agree with, because they are listening and actively trying to grow with the system.

And, I understand that there are a lot of things to do, it just seems like this is an easy non-balance skewing issue to fix with a quick post.

They are proficient with those that state it such as the temple sword. Otherwise no luck.

Yeah... I found that one. That's why I'm asking this here, in order to hopefully get enough people to faq it to make a change, as they are turning out so many faqs/errata lately.

27 new "monk" weapons, only one that they are actually proficient in without a multiclass/feat.

Trying to make the request as civil, simple, and reasonable as possible. Just seems like an oversight, at least I hope it is.

Well there has already been a FAQ on that here and the answer is no.

I still hoping they make a Feat so I can take the Katana as a monk weapon and use it with Flurry of Blows. Then I can create Zatoichi.

There is a katana that can be used with flurry. It's in UE somewhere.

More than just Flurry; it's Blade of the Sword Saint; it's a +3 ki intensifying katana; So it can be used for most things that monks can usually only do unarmed. Expensive as hell, but incredibly useful for a monk.

If you worship a god that has Katana as favored weapon (I know a few in Tien do), take a level in cleric, and take Crusaders Flurry, you can flurry with a katana.

I just wish there was a way to do it without a multi-class.

Which weapons are you referring to? I don't see "eastern" as automatically equivalent to "monk."

He's referring to weapons with the "monk" quality. The quality allows a monk to perform flurry of blows attacks with such a weapon, but doesn't automatically grant the monk proficiency with it.

That seems sort of silly, but I guess it's logically equivalent to "exotic weapons" -- things that are intentionally better by enough of a margin that you'd need to spend resources to get 'em.

It's unfair that Unarmed Fighter gets all of them but Monk doesn't, but such is life.
