Discordant Voice, Battle Dancing and allies

Rules Questions

If you are using Discordant voice while Battle Dancing, can allies here it?

Discordant Voice:
Prerequisites: Bardic performance class feature, Perform (oratory or sing) 10 ranks.

Benefit: Whenever you are using bardic performance to create a spell-like or supernatural effect, allies within 30 feet of you deal an extra 1d6 points of sonic damage with successful weapon attacks. This damage stacks with other energy damage a weapon might deal. Projectile weapons bestow this extra damage on their ammunition, but the extra damage is dealt only if the projectile hits a target within 30 feet of you.

Battle Dance:
Battle dancing is treated as bardic performance for the purposes of feats, abilities, effects, and the like that affect bardic performance, except that battle dancing does not benefit from the Lingering Performance feat or any other ability that allows a bardic performance to grant bonuses after it has ended.

So long as you have the skill ranks, the answer seems to be yes.

But here is the part that bothers me, at the end:
"Dervish dancers gain the inspire courage, inspire greatness, and inspire
heroics bardic performance types as battle dances, but these only provide benefit to the dervish dancer himself."

Are they treated as regular performances for this feat in regards to text I bolded?

Shadow Lodge

Discordant Voice benefits your allies even if the form of bardic performance you are using does not itself benefit them - for example, Dirge of Doom. Therefore, I see no problem with allowing Discordant Voice to function with Battle Dance despite the fact that the Battle Dance does not itself benefit your allies.

And despite the fluff and the skill ranks prerequisites, Discordant Voice doesn't require the bardic performance to have auditory components.

That's good enough for me.

Today I asked why I would even take Discordant voice since it only gives 1d6 to myself and my allies (bad wording there I suppose). One response was pretty sure that the Dawnflower Bard gets 2d6. This doesn't seem right to me because every Bard related feat would be doubled for the Dawnflower.

Am I right on this?

Bump

No, only the Battle Dance performances themselves are doubled, not extra feat add ons. That said, +1d6 damage per hit for the entire party is amazingly awesome, unless your group is all obsessed with making the most out of bad feats like Vital Strike and Focused Shot. You have to figure, even the 3/4 BAB classes are making two attacks by the time you can get the feat, and full BABers are taking 3--if you have a natural attacking pouncer in your party or an archer, it gets pretty ridiculous pretty fast.

As for the original question, yes, by RAW, Discordant Voice would buff the entire party. But when it comes to RAI, I think I'm probably the only GM I know that would allow it (I'm fine with refluffing, but all the other GMs I know seem to be allergic to it).

They'd get hung up on the voice thing and the fact that, not only do your performances only affect you, but they involve no vocals at all. Again, I don't agree with them, but that's what they'd say.

Pardon my necro, but I see no reason why you can't sing or orate while dancing. After all, the standard bard is perfectly capable of using perform sing during combat. If the feat were specifically tied to perform sing and or oratory in it's use, that would mean it would be unusable to any instrument using bards as well.
