Table of PFS legal gods with domains & subdomains?

Pathfinder Society

4/5

I know that there are a bunch of different sourcebooks that list gods and their domains (and favored weapons) - what I'm curious about is if there is a comprehensive table somewhere that lists all of the current PFS legal gods along with their domains and favored weapons.

And what is the PFS rule for subdomains for less common gods (or those from sources published before subdomains were available)?

I'm looking at making a few new PFS characters including at least one that will have some levels in Cleric (a Nagaji Naga Aspirant Druid / Cleric of Nalinivati) - the Pathfinder Wiki lists subdomains for her (and cites Dragon Empires Gazetteer as the sourcebook) so for this specific character I have a source (and I think Additional Resources says it is a legal source) but for other character concepts I'm far less clear.

And there are some domains that don't, from what I can tell, have any Gods to which they are assigned (Whimsy for example).

The Archives of Nethys has a list of all the gods with the PFS legal ones marked with the Pathfinder symbol. It's got domains, favored weapons, and what books they are in.

There's also a list someone made of all the PFS legal gods and what books they are in, but it doesn't have domains or weapons.

awesome - thanks - my initial quick Google searches weren't turning up the Archive of Nethys but I should remember that awesome resource in the future!

Well, according the table indicated on that web-site, Rovagug is also legal for Pathfinder Sociery Characters, but could anyone tell me how can an Inquisitor or Cleric of Rovagug could survive among all the other Clerics and Inquisitors of Sarenrea, Iomedae, etc.?

Rage sub-domain and Greataxe proficiency looks cool, but.. GMs go crazy when they heard I am building an Inquisitor of Rovagug..

I see neutral aligned characters of evil gods not uncommonly. If your character is a half-orc it would probably make the most sense. You would have an evil aura which might be problematic given this season's location. Maybe different different play areas are just different but the alignment infighting has never been a problem here.

One scenario has you infiltrate a town basically ruled by the church of rovagug.

In-game, all members of the Pathfinder Society are required to cooperate, and leave aside any personal grievances against fellow Society members.

Out of game, there is of course the rule against PvP. So you might get into heated arguments with your party members, but it should never come to blows.

I don't know guys, my GMs are saying that when I try to take off my Rovagug symbol for casting a spell, other players would chop my head off for sure (metaphorically) as my true identity reveals..

Those worshippers of Rovagug have been exiled from their places, their temples have been shutted down.. So, with all of these "popular" images, my friends saying that role playing of a worshipper of Rovagug becomes imposible..

Also, they are insisting that, playing as a worshipper of Rovagug, I should attack every single entity I encounter, including my party, as my deity also tried to do give an end to life. In contrast what you said, Chris, being neutral or evil, doesn't matter, I should fulfill my deity's bidding, which is killing and killing. According to my GMs..

By the way, yes, I was thinking to make its race Half-orc..

GMs also arguing that someone like a worshipper of Rovagug doesn't care about something like joining Pathfinder, going our for quests, as they are just doing killing and killing.

Dark Archive

How about you tell said GMs that it's your character, and you decide how they choose to act and worship their god.

On the same page though, please put a lot of though on how your worshiper of the crazy, kill everything god would fit into the campaign. There is more to worshiping the Rough Beast than greate axe and rage sub-domain mechanics.

This is PFS. Until Mike Brock or Jon Compton indicate that worshipping Rovagug is illegal for this campaign, he is legal for this campaign.

In a home game, GMs can make up whatever restrictions they want.

If your goal is to kill...and there is a group that actually finds and makes missions for you to do so with the blessing of all of it's members...then by all means. It doesn't mean you lack intelligence and wisdom in how you go about blood letting; they'll all get their due in the end.

You can also role play as you are on the mission to find the end-of-the-world artifact, increasing your own person destructive capabilities (like a constant test) until your god is ready or a means of passing acquired goods to others in your church and what better way than with a PFS stamp of approval?
If you kill enough, they'll even rescue you if you should fail so you can do more...what's better than that?
I would also roleplay that against party members that would threaten you...You are a member just as priviledged as they are and carry the same protections that they do. Politics and religion vary wildly, so ideally a lawful cleric would never heal a chaotic character, that division is just as broad as good versus evil.
PFS is Neutral.
Per the Society Field Guide:
Some seek to unlock the secret history of the world, piecing together the past one fragment at a time. Others are in it for the money, filtering priceless antiquities through a series of unscrupulous merchants to enrich themselves beyond measure. Other Pathfinders take up the trade for the potential fame, or because they find the thrill of risking their lives more addicting and exhilarating than any vice or drug.

Persoanlly, I think various good elements would not consort with the PFS, but they get the same rewards you do...access, secrets, leads...

As far as evil dieties, it really only presents a mechanical problem when the scenario points out alignment detection and consequences, and you'll definitely need a way to deal with those...you don't want to p*** off other players because the GM fails your mission cause your evil cleric's aura is overwhelming. <and there are adventures with just that>

Also keep in mind he was asking for a list of the 'PFS Legal Gods' not the 'PFS good/neutral gods'.

Yes it is difficult for my Cleric of Mephistopheles to put the Society before the Red King but the ways he sees it .. an ordered society can only benefit Mephistopheles by providing new followers who see the benefit of an ordered Society.

Looking through Archive of Nethys list it's missing Ragathiel and I know he's legal.

No it isn't. He's down there with the other Empyreal Lords.

I really wish there was a Neutral (on the good/evil axis) deity with disease as part of his/her pantheon. I've got a really fun healing Cleric concept using alternate channeling, but I have to be a neutral cleric of an evil god (Urgathoa or one other), which means I can't use positive energy, which means I can't heal many people. Oh well, maybe someday!

While I don't know about a PFS GM saying some of those things about a follower of Rovagug, I will say if I were GMing such a character and they made their religion known to NPCs they would never succeed in a diplomacy check again (situational penalty of -oh good lord).

I went around a similar obstacle by taking a level in Oracle (Black Blooded archetype). It gave me a lot of cure spells for in-combat healing and allowed my negative channeling to heal me. Out of combat healing is taken care of by the wand as usual.

If you plan on improving your Channels anyway, a life oracle or a bones one can get channel too ;-)

Life oracle will improve your healing ability, while Bones will give you more versatility for your negative channels (through Command Undead).

You don't have to make it known, obviously. :)
