Wait until you see what it looks like painted!

Skull and Shackles is a great AP but that gargantuan skeletal dragon could double as an iconic undead dragon from the greatest AP of them all. Hmmmm, I wonder if there was some inspiration there?

PAIZO. Can you explain why we have to spent $399 on minis before being able to purchase this dragon?

I do not mind being forced to buy 1-2 boosters but a case!!!!

It's called a "case incentive" because it's an incentive for buying a case.

Also, it's available from other places without the necessity of buying a whole case that you can get one pretty easily outside of Paizo.

Edit: also, if you wait a few months, you can buy it from Paizo without buying a whole case.

Will we be seeing some Gargantuan Chromatic, Metallic, Imperial, or Primal Dragons soon? I know a Gargantuan Green Dragon is in the works but are their anymore scheduled for release soon?

Skeld,

Thanks for clarifying. Makes sense ;)

I finally received my Skeletal Dragons. I am very unhappy.

I opened both of them and the wings do not fit well at all into the back of the dragon. The left wing on both fit ok enough, but the right wing for both are extremely difficult to get in and easily pop off.

Are you required to glue these wings on?

I really wish WizKids would stop trying to make a one box size fits all for the gargantuans and make boxes unique for each promo gargantuan.

It was done with the Black Dragon, I wish they would have continued with the other promos.

Yes, yes, I know it's more expensive, but I really don't care. I would rather pay the extra amount of money per gargantuan so I can get it one piece than deal with the frustration of pieces not fitting right or falling off.

They are meant to be superglued.

Thanks, I will keep note of that from now on.

But I really wish still we could receive the gargantuan miniatures in one piece. If they need to send us different sized boxes for each set, so be it.

The Exchange

I'm ok with super gluing it myself. They're pricey enough as it is. Unique packaging only makes it more so.

I think all the gargantuan minis have come in multiple pieces. The Black Dragon was huge if I remember correctly.

That's a good point.

I've had some time to re-evaluate, I was quite aggravated earlier.

I think it's just with the Rune Giant, the sword fit in tightly, no glue was needed, and even with both of my Blue Dragons, most of the wings and both tails fit snug and did not need glue, only needed to glue one of the wings. But I thought it was just a bit of a defect and glue would normally not be needed.

But with the Skeletal Dragon, neither of the right wings fit well at all, and if move the miniature too much, even the left wings will come off, so I was a bit frustrated.

I guess I will just glue the pieces in from now on if I need to.

I don't think it's just the cost of larger boxes, but postage as well. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, but the gluing thing is the one bit of craftsiness that shows up in both painted and unpainted minis. It's just good to have some around! Bases come off, sometimes other bits, and then you have it for metal minis, too.

Interesting how we see things differently. I have just assumed I needed to glue all of them and have done so. I never expected them to just fit together.

But having your expectation I can see where the dragon was causing you some frustration. Other than the wing glue issue, what did you think of them?

The blue did fit together pretty well prior to gluing, true!

I'm curious how the colors look in hand. I'm not sure I'm wild about the color of the wings. I'll just paint over them if I don't like it, but...

Okay, just occurred to me that it's easier to make it a former dragon of any color the way it is now.

Oh, the sculpt and paint job are excellent. The quality is definitely there for the PFB minis, and it just keeps getting better.

I'll just have to keep in mind to glue the multi-piece gargantuans from now on.

The Exchange

i agree that the wings were a little loose. i noticed a major difference between the blue dragon and the skeletal dragon: the blue had a <- shape to the insert, implying that it would hold itself in place once assembled. the skeletal just has a slightly snug fit for the straight wing inserts.

it is a very nice iconic dragon piece, in that it could be a simple skeleton, a draconic skeletal champion, or even a dracolich, depending on what sort of encounter your dealing with. it can also be a nice 'mueseum' piece to place on a platform in the middle of a formal event (right before the necromancer crashes the party?)

My wife an I picked up one of these this past weekend. I was concerned about the wings too after reading about them here and on the set's discussion. Our set was actually a tight fit. I had to wiggle them into the place slowly to get them plugged in. They seemed tighter than the Blue we got previously. So far all weekend with handling, examining and such, they don't show any signs of coming loose or popping out.

Could be possible there's some variations going on based on environmental or other factors causing it. But that's just a guess.

Otherwise, I was really impressed with what I got versus what I could see previously. I don't think the pictures we've been shown (on the site or the box) really do this bad boy justice. I think it's a lot better than the pictures by a long shot.
