I did a quick search of the forums and FAQ, and can't find an answer. So...does drinking an Alchemist's extract provoke an AoO?

They are imbibed like potions .... drinking a potion provokes .... drinking an extract provokes

"An extract is “cast” by drinking it, as if imbibing a potion"

Interesting... does this mean Alchemists cannot cast defensively? 'casting a spell' always provokes for an Alchemist?

I believe 0gre thinks it doesn't provoke, and since I see him as the expert on alchemists, I'm fine with that. I don't recall the details though.

I've always believed drinking an extract provokes, and there is no way to "drink defensively." I've found this is more than made up for having every Alchemist "spell" being effectively silenced, immune to identification from an observer's spellcraft check, and can never be interrupted due to breaking concentration.

Oh whoa, I got that way wrong. Here's what I was thinking of. You can't prevent the AoO.

Interesting points all, none of which I had considered. Thanks for the input, guys.
