No one stays dead except Bucky, oh, um, including Bucky
Uncle Ben stays dead. Everyone else is negotiable. Remember when "Barry Allen dead" used to be the standard when describing a "really for sure dead" character?
That being said, I'm looking forward to the series. We'll see if Coulson can sustain weekly story arcs.

rage remains one of my favorite heroes. Quite flawed and believable.

Speaking of Spider-Man and dead, I wonder when he'll be coming back.
If you're talking about the "Superior" Spider-man, not the "Ultimate" one. He'll be back. That one I'm sure is already planned. That's a death and return storyline, which I don't have any problem with.
As opposed to a "Kill them off and have a different writer/editor undo it and bring them back later", which is more problematic.

Sorry, i would gladly that they not even approve a show then arbitrarily cancel it mid season when you already get attached to the characters. It's a miracle that they allowed whedon to (hastily) finish season 1 at all.
Not too strange given their track record.| TarSpartan |

Essentially, it sucks to be Spider-Man.

I guess Stacy clones don't count? ;)
Seriously, I'm treating the Spider-Man death like the recent Human Torch death. A temporary setback. As long as Mary Jane doesn't make another deal with Mephisto to bring him back...

I know the internet says I should care about Agent Coulson, but I have a hard time getting worked up about a character whose defining personality trait was dying like a b$!@~ to catalyze the heroes into taking action. But for his death, no one would be clambering for a show featuring Agent Coulson (or objecting to a show about SHIELD lacking Agent Coulson). He's just another member in the "unpopular/irrelevant until he died a noble death" brigade, joining such storied members as Doug Ramsey, Jason Todd, and Blink from AoA.

I knew quite a few people who loved the character before the Avengers came out because of his previous appearances.

Count me among the Coulson fans pre-Avengers. There wasn't anything special about his appearance in the original Iron Man, but he was great in IM2 and Thor (particularly IM2).

Coulson was always interesting to me but never important. I like that hes a tie in to the movie. I like that it basically says that Marvel is dedicated to creating something big. Had they replaced him, they could easily say that theres no link between the two but now they've created something (possibly) bigger then just another (usually crappy) superhero show. It means that instead of ignoring the existence of this show, i will actually watch it. And its on a channel i get with basic so that makes me happy

I'm a Coulson fan because of this, Funny thing happened on the way to Thor's hammer. It also proves that Coulson is a badass but just not as badass as Loki.

Doug wasn't bad, he just was written very poorly. For one thing, he should have been a supporting character, not one of the actual team members. For another, they made the ridiculous decision early on that since his power was of almost no use combat wise, they wouldn't bother to train him in combat. Yet they still toted him around into combat situations....in case Omega Red started yelling in Russian and Colossus wasn't there, I guess. They might as well have dressed him in bright neon red, green, and yellow and called him Target (or Robin).
Anyway, like most dead X-Men, he eventually did return, although he at least had the decency to stay dead for several years.

as much as I hate whedon in his many forms, I truly enjoyed coulsons death scene. Not out of a desire to see him die, but because I thought he was damn badass in it. And this is me talking.

There were a couple little segments on some Blu Ray releases that served as extra features. They're now on YouTube somewhere, I would imagine. The two I know of that had Coulson in it were "The Consultant" and "A Funny Thing Happened on the way to Thor's Hammer." The latter gives him a pretty badass moment.
