Well maybe we will be lucky and the Hadhayosh made it into B5.

The red bull from The Last Unicorn WAS the Aatxe, so that seems like a reasonable fit for it.

Huge updates on my project and with that come MANY new wishes for Bestiary 5/6:

Sybaris, Delphyne, Shamir, Alastor, Anhanga, Bicorne, Kadindi or Dodo, Zheng, Sharale and many more, just click the link to see them all as there are pictures there too.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I would really love the prehistoric fish Rhizodus, Hyneria and Xiphactinus would all make the Golarion-based seas and rivers more deadly and dangerous.

You can never have too many aquatic critters.

A group of outsiders that are physical manifestations of human emotions(joy, fear, anger, love, hate, disgust, despair, etc.). Maybe they would be incorporeal or at least have the ability to posses( or merge with) living intelligent creatures. Also regardless of the emotion they grant both positive and negative effects based on there emotion type to there host(and possibly everyone else). Maybe they could come from the dimension of dreams or some kind of mindscape.

I'm actually working on developing something extremely close to this.

I know it's not official content*, but if you're interested, I can share more with you once I start writing...

*(Although if I ever work at Paizo, I hope to one day make them official.)

Sounds familiar :P

Silver Crusade Contributor

Yeah, I've been brainstorming ways to differentiate my creations from the spiritualist's phantom.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Too be honest I got the idea from the movie "Inside Out".

I would like to see a creature from the positive energy plane that likes to heal(channeling or lay on hands+mercy) living creatures and unless attacked with do so to any creature. Also another creature from the positive energy plane that must merge with living creatures to survive outside there home plane, also grants fasting healing and immunity to energy drain to it's host. The merging one looks like a child like energy being and is more then likely a younger version of a more powerful creature.

Also a living clockwork like creature from the dimension of time would be cool.

Actually just like DInosaurs I would like to see two pages dedicated to prehistoric fish monsters, in bestiary 5 or 6 they should put the most notorious ones:

Rhizodus
Xiphactinus
Helicoprion the chainsaw Shark
and of course the famous Dunkleosteus.

These four would be perfect for this, they should not be with the dinosaurus, they are different creatures.

Silver Crusade Contributor

The helicoprion and dunkleosteus both exist already, in Skull & Shackles books 2 & 3 (respectively).

Of course, there's nothing stopping them from getting a reprint. ^_^

I knew, but because most creatures get reprinted in big bestiaries it makes sense for those two to get involved, they are two of the most famous prehistoric fish beasts, and the most bizarre ones.

We could use more sea creatures in general.

Liberty's Edge

I'd like to see a return of the Lupinal, under the "Celestials" section, and a return of the Marrash. And also, a better phoenix... the one in the PF bestiary is kinda lame in comparison to the D&D 3.0/3.5 phoenix.

Silver Crusade

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Lupinal and Marrash are both closed content if I recall correctly, so no go with including them in Pathfinder bestiaries.

They could still have a "Lupinal", they would just have to call it something else.

James andErik have stated on numerous occasions that skirting around WotC copyrights is not something they're interested in.

Marrash? Try the Leukodaemon. Or wish for a winged gnoll fleshspawn. :-p

A flesh warped gnoll would work.

All hail the Owl-Man, Master of the feathered nightmare.

Well it sounds like time elementals will be in bestiary 5.

Where do you read that?

Time elementals are talked about in Occult Adventures.

I noticed that as well hopefully they will be in B5.

Cut and pasted list of Korean creatures:
ㅇ Baeksaseum : a white deer that can run 5000 miles a day.

ㅇ Bonghwang : a mythical bird superior to normal birds; it is composed of the beak of a rooster, the face of a swallow, the forehead of a fowl, the neck of a snake, the breast of a goose, the back of a tortoise, the hindquarters of a stag, and the tail of a fish.

ㅇ Bulyeowoo (불여우) : a fox living for a hundred years becomes a fire fox.

ㅇ Chollidongigae / Manlidongigae : dogs who can run 1000/10000 miles a day.

ㅇ Chollima (천리마) : a winged 'thousand-mile horse' that no mortal man can ride.

ㅇ Dokkaebi / Tokebi (도깨비) : a spirit type that changes from old things at night. Grotesque- & frightening-looking but humorous 'goblins' playing tricks on bad people.
--- Cham : a mischievous Dokkaebi that looks like a big, hairy man
--- Gaksi ('lady') / Chonggak ('young man') : attract humans
--- Go : Dokkaebi good at handling weapons, especially arrows
--- Gwisu : monster Dokkaebi, known to lead the other Dokkaebi
--- Kimseobang ('Mr. Kim') : dumb, looks like a common farmer
--- Nut : the only Dokkaebi able to change during daytime
--- Owinun : one-eyed Dokkaebi that loves eating a lot
~ Dokkaebi Bangmangi (도깨비 방망이) : their magic wands to summon things (stealing)
~ Dokkaebi Gamtu (도깨비 감투) : their cap that makes the wearer invisible (and more)

ㅇ Dragons (용 'yong' / 미르 'mireu') : connected to water, thus often found in rivers, lakes, oceans and deep ponds in the mountains, also rain & cloud bringers. Looks like Chinese dragons, but with longer beards. Also, they are four-toed, unlike 3-toed Imugi.
--- Imugi : lesser dragons, striving to become true dragons. Hornless, serpent-like. Unless they obtain the Yeouiju, they have to wait a thousand years before evolving. Only 1 Imugi at the time can become a dragon, the others are cursed to stay the same.
--- Kkangcheoli (깡철이) : a failed Imugi (이무기).
~ Yeouiju (여의주) : 'power from heaven', the dragon orb that can evolve an Imugi.

ㅇ Dueoksini : evil being with red eyes.

ㅇ Eoduksini : dark monster that grows when you look at it, disappears when not.

ㅇ Geumsaseum : a golden deer living in Mt. Baekdu.

ㅇ Geuseundae : similar to Eoduksini, except that light makes it disappear.

ㅇ Gumiho (구미호) : a fox that has lived for a thousand years becomes a Gumiho, and it can freely transform but stays 'foxy'. They tend to lure and eat the livers of humans.

ㅇ Gwishin (귀신) : ghosts of dead people unable to move on. Transparent, legless, floats in mid-air, long black hair. Stay behind due to an unfinished task or injustice.
--- Mool Gwishin (물귀신) : a soul departed in in water.
--- Cheonyo Gwishin (처녀귀신) : the departed soul of a virgin girl.
--- Mongdal Gwishin (몽달귀신) : the departed soul of an unmarried man.
--- Dalgyal Gwishin (달걀귀신) : a ghost with an 'egg' head; no eyes, nose, or mouth.

ㅇ Haetae : fire creature with the ability to control time. Scale-covered dog body with lion mane, a horn on its forehead and a bell around its neck. Protector of justice.

ㅇ Jangjamari (water spirits) : instrument-playing & fat creatures covered in seaweed.

ㅇ Juji : strange beings that look like birds with small heads.

ㅇ Samjokgu (삼족구) : three-legged dogs who can see through a Gumiho's disguise.

ㅇ Samjoko (삼족오) : a three-legged crow/raven, superior to dragons and phoenix.

I'd like to see the Dokkaebi as a Chaotic Neutral native outsider race. I'm kind of intrigued by the Eoduksini.

What creatures are also mentioned in Occult Adventures? So we can expect them in bestiary 5?

I like to see Haetae, Imoogi, Jangjamari, Eoduksini/Geuseundae (while i'm not a fan of the name) and too bad the only Dokkaebi I like has the least name of all... Go? That can't work in the English language so the creature needs another name. But I like a ranged weapon expert, though the Christian Lerajie can work too and has a better name for it, Lerajie is a expert archer which shoots arrows which bring diseases like flesh-eating bacteria.

Kumiho (named Gumiho as wel) is a tricky one for me, I don't like it in the real legends + we already have the similar Kitsune and Nogitsune in Pathfinder, so I really like it to be different, so it can't take human form, as we already have Kitsune and Nogitsune which are shapeshifters I want Kumiho to be a evil 9 tailed fox only, much like Ninetales from Pokemon.

Myth Lord wrote:

The creatures mentioned are just existent creatures (like Aeons, Night Hags and Rakshasa (I really like the rakshasa art in the spells chapter)), except for Time Elementals, and that new outsider group Manasaputras. Though we do now know the name of a few Manasaputra: Kumara (the CR 20's), agnishvattas, barhisads, and manus.

Yeah those are the only creatures I have found in the book so far as well.

I really like the Jangjamari, the idea of a fat creature covered in seaweed playing a musical instrument just sounds very different then anything I have seen in a bestiary. Hopefully the musical instrument is a saxophone.

and we always need more seaweed monsters...

Also...any updates on Bestiary 5 at Gencon? I was hoping we would at least get the official cover this weekend.

Does anyone know of any Inca monsters that would be good for the game? I'm having trouble finding any.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

The descendents of the Inca are the Quechua-speaking peoples of the Andes. So far my creature archive records the following creatures:

Abuelitos = little people who dwell in ruins around Lake Titicaca;

Achkay/Auka/Aqui/Unaguilli/Aschcu guagua = ; baby spirits which resemble animals; Sharp-toothed with brilliant pupils; minor spirits of the hills; mediate between the living and dead; crop and mountain spirits; transport people to hell; can only be seen by shamans

Amaru = Quechua; Llama dragon; giant monster with the head of a llama, draconic wings, and a serpent like body; also depicted as a double-headed underground serpent, with the head of a bird and a cougar; has difficulty moving on land, so inhabits seas and rivers; symbolizes water, strength, and lightning; the destroyer that bring floods which also bring life; can travel between the material plane and the afterlife

Chuzalungu = soul of a slave beaten to death by his master; appears as a tall, white human, with huge hat, tail, bright eyes, tousled hair, and backward feet; defends forests

Coquena/Llastay = shy little man in ragged white and brown clothes with a feathered hat; spy on hunters and can loose wind and lightning from bags of silver and gold; protects wild ungulate herds and turkeys; can appear as a bird, insect, or giant guanaco.

Machukuna = People of the moon; former inhabitants of earth, who venerated the moon; were wiped out in a cataclysm formed from the appearance of the sun; lair in caves and emerge at night to warm themselves under the moon; jealous of living people, and react with wrath if anyone raids their tombs; control of weather

Muqui = “He Who Suffocates”; old, three foot tall dwarves; red hair, white skin, metallic eyes, and long gray beard; shiny small horns; inhabit abandoned mines and wells; dress in green and wear helmets and carry lanterns; can change into dogs or phase through rocks; if removed from underground turn into stone and water; evil

Ochukullkos/Suripchaquin = Hairy little men as big as corncobs, with ostrich-like feet; dwell in a dark underworld of mirrors where everything is reversed; dress in wool ponchos and blankets; herd vicunas and chinchillas

Sacha cuca waira = Evil wind of the forest; human sized evil spirit which dresses in leaves and branches

Ucumar = large-bigfoot/bear like creature, with prominent fangs, razor sharp claws, and thick black fur; small eyes, with prominent jowls and a huge mouth with protruding teeth; lack a soul

Urkuyaya = Mountain Father who can kill trespassers with his gaze

Yastay llama = giant spirit llama which protects herds of guanacos and llamas; protects starving hunters, but punishes those who kill without need; may transform into demonic form to punish, with eyes that burn with the fire of the sun; immune to bullets; sometimes helps lost travelers in the desert, and can be placated with offering of mashed corn

Nope, don't have any Inca monsters in my lists, the Amaru sounded interesting when I first read about it until i've read the part that it has a serpent body instead of a llama-dragon body, and most of the other monsters are into chaotic shapeshifting.

The creatures from that list I haven't heard off before:

Ochukullkos sounds interesting, especially the dark underworld of mirrors where everything is reversed part, its appearance is something I would change in Pathfinder, and of course google lacks ANY information on this creature, always the most interesting lack information...

Chuzalungu begins interesting and then suddenly turns into another nature protector, would be more interesting if it would have been a harsh protector of other slaves, who harms slave-takers in Pathfinder.

Why everything in south-america has backward feet? At first I thought it was unique in the Curupira, but most humanoid creatures in South-American legends have those same feet? Is it some tradition? Also most creatures seem to be into controlling the weather and turning into random animals, probably to hide their existense, or the people who made them up could get away with their lies more easily, just telling they turned into a dog or jaguar. :-p

Evil Wind of the Forest sounds AWESOME, but then it turns out to be just another dwarf-like creature that wears leaves much like Eloko & CO, but with that name something awesome can be done in pathfinder maybe.

Much potentional in this list, if they are somewhat changed a bit so they don't resemble other creatures too much, well at least all the dwarf/pygmy-like beings.

+ Another sasquatch, its amazing too see how much of those creatures are out there, everyone must have the same delusion all over the world, pretty scary, I start to believe that the legend is a virus. :-p

Yastay Llama this is a pretty awesome picture i've seen of Yastay Llama.

Llama based monsters would be different.

Llama based monsters would be Neutral Good creatures, I can't imagen a evil Llama based creature lol!

Or maybe the Yastay Llama in demon form is a monstrous creature shooting solar rays from its eyes and spitting super-heated spit at its enemies lol, or the spit is poisonous, or explosive or corrosive, or electrified, or paralyzing, or magma, or sickening mud, or poison that makes your blood bleed out your body or or or or or or or

lol.

I think it relates to being able to track them. since their feet point backward, any attempt to follow there footprints back to the creature will result in failure. Quite a few creatures in SE Asian folklore also share this feature. I imagine if you are a society heavily involved with hunting, than something that can elude your tracking ability in such a manner becomes extra creepy.

Also obviously none of you folk have seen Barn of the Blood Llama, otherwise you would see the true power of llama-based monsters :)

I think it's for the best that I haven't seen that movie yet!

A friend of mine tried his hand at raising llamas, and he said they are highly contrary critters (bite and spit), so I don't have any problems believing there were stories of monstrous llamas.

Plus the fact there is a llama based dragon.

Dragon78 wrote:

That is no dragon, that is a serpent chimerae. I refuse to call snakes dragons! :-p

Well, with the telekineticist being able to drain aether subtype creatures for power, hold person on aether subtype creatures, and able to create aether elementals. So... I'm gonna guess that bestiary 5 will have aether elementals.

assuming they are not within the Occult Bestiary first...

MMCJawa wrote:

It'd be rather stupid for RPG line material to require Campaign Setting material in order to function so I doubt that.

I really hope those elementals are in Occult Bestiary, not in the bestiary 5.

I hope on more original elementals that aren't called Name + Elemental.

Myth Lord wrote:

Having aether elementals doesn't remove other potential elementals from the book. Not having aether elementals in the book does mean that telekineticists can't access some of their abilities unless they buy a campaign-setting specific book. It's especially stupid considering aether elementals aren't very golarion tied...

I hope the new elementals will be in Bestiary 5.

There are some updates on the Shadhavar and it turns out to be a herbivore... The creature the entire web went crazy about and who is the real carnivorous, singing unicorn-gazelle is the Siranis. But all the information and pictures on google about the Shadhavar is wrong and should be for the Siranis instead.

It's been confirmed that aether elementals and elemental wisps for all 5 primary will be in bestiary 5.

Were was this confirmed?
