Deliver Touch Spells

Rules Questions

"Deliver Touch Spells (Su): If the master is 3rd level or higher, a familiar can deliver touch spells for him. If the master and the familiar are in contact at the time the master casts a touch spell, he can designate his familiar as the “toucher.” The familiar can then deliver the touch spell just as the master would. As usual, if the master casts another spell before the touch is delivered, the touch spell dissipates."

Just to check, can a caster cast a spell, have the familiar hold it indefinitely, then have the familiar let it go back on the caster?

Silver Crusade

Watch out for the spell going away when you cast another one.

No. The caster designates their familiar as the toucher when the spell is cast. The Familiar has no ability to transfer spells to anyone else, or even to shed the spell other than by touching an eligible target.

Not sure if you are confused or I am, but by 'let it go' I mean cast it on the caster.

Couldn't the caster just touch himself rather than this round about way to cast a spell on himself.

Or is this a "I want my familiar to have a cure spell held so if I go down he can target me" type of thing?

This is a 'lets break the action economy!' thing. Cast your favourite personal/touch buff on your familiar, get it to hold it, then touch it on you when combat breaks out. Effectively two standard actions for the first round (more if the buff has a longer casting time)

Just curious to know if this would work.
