Resurrecting a dead campaign... need advice

So last year a campaign we were running (110 hours worth of play), came to a crashing end with only 2 of the 6 PCs left alive and fleeing from a certain Count in a mist enshrouded land.

It was a great campaign and I want to resurrect it but I want to wipe the slate clean so all the characters are alive and can continue adventuring.

I've been brain storming some ideas and I was hoping for advise on these or maybe suggestions I hadn't though of.

- "The Dallas Effect" it was all a horrible dream!

- "You have been chosen!" a god decides the PCs are important and brings them back to life.

- "Momento meets Wizard of Oz" The PCs wake up somewhere else with no memory of who they are or how they got there.

Any advice would be appreciated

New PCs are tasked by the ghosts of the old party to finish what was started.

As we are in the Mists, my suggestion would be a cloning of the characters by a certain Lich. Remember, he would still have a bone to pick with the Count, unless the Mists would prevent the cloning?

I thought that happened in a Ravenloft module - the party are killed by the Headless Horsemen and then resurrected by Azlin?
Yeah I could go with that.

You could always try the video game method: you all appear at the last save point. :)

The dead ones could come back as various undead ... Gives them some funky stuff and possibly a drive to get themselves cured. :)
