Curious. Is he handing off Trek to someone else? He did say that the Trek movies would probably be a trilogy, I think.
I think he might be a better fit for SW than Trek, actually.

Dark Archive

Sweet. I prefer him over other directors that have been mentioned

I'm suspicious of this, as he has thus far only directed movies written by combinations of himself and/or his Alias/Lost/Fringe cowriting buddies Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Damon Lindelof. *If* it's true, I expect him to have a cowriting credit as well.

Im not huge on directors, what else has he done?

I've been assuming they will run with the post episode 6 books as another trilogy although i really hope they dont and give us something new.

for cast Im really hoping for:

Luke: Matt Daman
Han: Ben Affleck
Leia: Jennifer Garner

Garner IS a little tall for Leia tho.

Natalie Portman could pull of playing her own daughter in episode 7, if you ask me. but I think people would cry foul.

Fisher is 5'1", Portman is 5'3" and Garner is 5'8". 7 inches would mean ALOT on screen. But she is the right age and look.

The other two are perfect for luke and han.
Im hoping it goes that way.

A lot of interesting stuff: IMDB.

He likes to cast Greg Grunberg in things, so this would make sense...

as long as they keep a helmet on him...

What a bummer. Dont get me wrong I think JJ is up to it but he is already doing Star Trek. Would have been nice to see somebody else for a change. People will be crying about no Whedon on this.

I read somewhere that...*

Luke...DiCaprio
Han...Bieber
Leia...Lohan

*no, I didn't read that anywhere.

Lens flare. Lens flare everywhere.

As much as I don't like JJ Abrams... his style fits Star Wars much better than it does poor Star Trek, give Star Trek over to someone competent like Joss Whedon. JJ Abrams with weak plot and high action is way better in Star Wars. He can't do any worse than Lucas did.

Scarab Sages

Meh. I figure Disney knows what they're doing by now.

Well, he can now destroy the other major sci fi fanchise.

Anyone else feel "not invested" in this franchise anymore?

I know I do.

The only way I'd see the next one is if everyone raves about it. Like Heath Ledger Joker levels of "I didn't expect it but it's awesome!".

I just don't think my enthusiasm could ever be re-kindled to it's previous levels after the last round of Stars Wars.

I'm in the skeptic basket and feel rather 'Meh' to the whole thing.

I loved the Star Trek reboot and was stunned how wel the new cast did.

Part of me hopes they go back in time to the old republic days instead of episode 7. I could see them going the easy way though and bringing back the old cast and using the Vong storyline.

Ben Affleck, please, no, no, no!

I'd prefer Thrawn's trilogy or Jedi Academy (game with Kyle Katarn, not Kevin J. Anderson books).

Well, we'll see what they invent for the VII episode.

Personally I dont want to see ANY adaptions from the books or expanded mythology.

I want to see something different. And fun. and Different.

Did I say different? Yeah THAT and FUN.

"Okay, Matt Damon has something to say...?"
"MATT DAMON!!!"
"Thank you, Matt."

Certain two songs come to mind but they are not safe for the intended forum age rating.

The Star Trek reboot was basically A New Hope in the Trekkieverse, so I'm optimistic about this.

It seems we are fated to eternally be at odds, Aranna.

Go. J. J. Hopefully he will be given the justice League movie after this.

Shadow Lodge

I think Wes Anderson should direct the new Star Wars movies.

Doubtful he will get Justice League. Both episode 7 and Justice League are sheduled to come out summer 2015. so most likely would have same production, shooting shedule.
