It has been grueling but IMO a good exercise in self-control. I don't know what I can say to people about my archetype that hasn't already been said in the thread. You can't please all of the people all of the time, and some people just won't like what you put out there.
Good luck to everybody, I'll be refreshing the site around 5pm to see if I need to keep worrying about the monster round or sit back, relax, and watch the show. :)

The exit polls are a nice thermometer, but it's a small sample, so they are hardly accurate (and Round 2 always presents some surprises). Based on current results, I'd say the top 9 are almost guaranteed to get through to Round 3. Below that, it's still open.

You're too kind! I am actually quite pleased with the comments in the thread. I estimate about 75% positive feedback, which I am blown away by given how picky gamers can be. What really worries me is the exit poll thread, as I am hovering around the middle/bottom of that thread. That and the fact that I have to compete against the other alchemist archetypes which on the whole were pretty awesome.

Congrats to the Top 16! I cheerfully concede I've been beat out by the best. (And frankly, I could say that about pretty much any conceivable combination of us folks. Guys, seriously - WOW. What a year.)

Woohoo! Congrats to the other Top 16. There were some great archetypes that didn't make it, also. I am feeling a little better prepared this round. That last round I kept tweaking it right until the end.

The monster round is really tough, so it's almost a relief not to be in it this year. You'd better read over the monsters from previous years!!
Guys, this was a tough round! Congratulations to those who made the cut, and congratulations to those who didn't, too - you didn't make things easy on the voters. ;)
And as soon as one gag order is lifted, another falls.
I look forward to discussing monster design on the other side of Round 3 with ya'll.

And to everyone in the Top 32, each archetype had some great ideas going for it and an obviously creative mind behind it. Really nice work.
Congrats all you in the Top 16! I'm excited to see what kinds of monsters emerge from the pulsing, oozing mass of creativity that you all have locked away in your head-closets.
I actually feel a little relieved I didn't progress: my archetype was far from my best work, due to it being thrashed out in some serious time crunch. Now I'm looking at polishing up my design skills so as to be a better contender for next year.
And hey, now I've a bit more time to go through and critique items/archetypes.

Congratulations to the Top 16 on a job well done, it's a pity my terrible beastie will not get to join your menagerie. To my fellows who did not progress, I hear your howls of anguish.
It's been great being part of the Superstar experience, even if only for a little bit.
My only consolation is that tomorrow the wife and I are off on holiday to one of the more rustic areas of southern Laos, a place where Internet access, and even electricity is not easy to come by. I can head off on my travels without worrying about how I get on these boards to vote, commit and potentially submit. No need to draft an encounter, but every reason to draft a lot of swinging in a hammock time.
I'll look forward to seeing how the contestants are doing when I get back, and look forward to taking another shot at Superstar next year.

Congrats to the top 16 - sad not to be up there with you but I think that all the top 16 were better than mine.
Even getting this far has been amazing and, if I'm lucky enough to get in next year I know I've learnt heaps to increase my chances. Well done to you all,

I just noticed this line in the rules:
When you are finished, your monster stat block should not have ## or zz in it at all.
So now I have to trash my jazz-playing pizza monster, and come up with another idea!

Word count was easy. A fourth unique idea was hard. Once the rules came out I had to start completely over and scrapped three great monster concepts. Grrrr! Twists! :b

I'm also very impressed by those who submitted right away. I keep tweaking and tweaking. Very hard to reach that "it's done!" cutoff.
