Huh. Never thought I'd need a definition for the word "trap" before. :b
As designers, let's make a pact to give a few potential players nightmares after this round. Let's make someone cry!
Also...anyone else secretly admiring how we got locked into another River Kingdoms round without anyone using the words "river" or "kingdoms"?

Only if y'all submitted River Kingdoms monsters :P

Ha! I just meant we got rivers, forests and marshes. I know some monsters won't be fit for RK. Unless the entries are clever enough to provides clues for variant models.
Good luck Tuesday, gang. Let's get kraken.

I just came up with something vicious, all I need is a forest monster, did anyone submit one of those?

That is what I am talking about! Anyone else ready to drop some "heroes"?

36 hours to go. It's a lovely mix of wanting to see the judges comments and being anxious of what the judges have to say, isn't it?
I wonder if we'll get a breakdown of the creature types before the reveal.
Yup, waiting is hard, but I do feel more confident about my monster than I did about my archetype.
I think a breakdown is in the works, my guesses:
plants, fishes and undead.
Maurice de Mare wrote: I didn't enter one of the above What Mr. de Mare means is "I neither confirm nor deny having entered one of the above monster types, and/or any combination thereof."
Well, I just had a dream that the Round 3 entries were revealed, and mine came up blank. Oy.
Joseph Kellogg wrote: Well, I just had a dream that the Round 3 entries were revealed, and mine came up blank. Oy. Calm down dude.
Ok, I'm speaking to myself. CALM DOWN, ME.
I need to figure out how to not worry so much.

It's so close, but so far away...

Dudes,
I just wanted to say I have enjoyed this experienced with you all (or as we say in Tusla, y'all). If you're like me, right now you feel like your monster ranges somewhere between genius and garbage. In the event this round is where I get off the boat, I've have enjoyed the banter, hope we spend some time in a pbp, and become good friends. Looking forward to raising a (nonalcoholic) glass with some of you at Gen Con.

Well said. I've never been to Gen Con and had hoped to go this summer now that I'm next door in Chicago, but some summer projects will keep me away. Maybe next year.
It's been a great run with y'all so far, and good luck to everybody!
Yup, right back at you guys. :)
It's been a lot of fun and I hope I get to keep having fun.
I feel the same. I felt pretty confident about Round 2 but I am unsure about this round. Some of the Round 3 monsters in past years were truly brilliant (kakuen-taka, I'm looking at you). I hope that when the dust clears I'm in that category, but I think it's going to be a tough round.
Very much looking forward to seeing what everyone else came up with. There was a lot more design space here than with the archetypes, so I can't wait to see how everyone branched out.
I'm super excited to see what everyone came up with. Best of luck to everyone!
Hit refresh. Hit refresh. Hit refresh.
STAHP
Here's to an exciting round. May the best monsters be left uneaten!
I'll be at GenCon running PFS. I'll hope to see all of you there.
So, no CR limit on the encounter (although the requirement of one of the CR 2-5 monsters gives us kind of a soft limit). Interesting...
Multiples of some of these monsters in the encounter round would be.... unfair. Proceed.
How many CR 2 monsters does it take to make a CR 25 encounter, anyway? I'm asking for a friend.
Exciting stuff this round, gentlemen. Well done.
Joseph Kellogg wrote: How many CR 2 monsters does it take to make a CR 25 encounter, anyway? I'm asking for a friend. About 2,731.
Liking what I'm reading so far. Going to be tough to pick what to use for encounter ideas. :)
Please ignore my other post. I deleted it out of shame. I only went up a CR per doubling.
The correct answer is 3072, I think. 2048 makes CR 24, *1.5 for CR 25.
So, what's the difference in 2731 and 3072. Is there a formula for getting only advancing half a CR?
Some great monsters this round guys. Well done!

Hey all, sorry I haven't been active on the boards much since last round! The reason for this is two-fold:
1) I'm working a lot.
2) I'm... DRUMROLL...
*Moving to Seattle!*
I'll try to read everything and vote in the meanwhile. Once the dust clears and I'm all settled after I move, I'll be sure to jump back into the conversations here. In the meanwhile, good luck top 16!

Thanks! And best wishes for your move!
Seattle sounds like an amazing place to be right now. :)
Chris, why would you want to leave Pennsylvania?
Chris Shaeffer wrote: I'm... DRUMROLL... *Moving to Seattle!* Does this have anything to do with a certain job opening that was listed on the Paizo site none too long ago?
I'm gonna pick up the gauntlet on the whole Top 32 PbP thing: I, Ziv Y. Wities, hereby declare myself to be sound in both mind and body, and volunteer to GM a PbP game for some of the Top 32.
This is a bit of a leap for me because, well, I've never actually played Pathfinder before. So GMing for some of its most awesome players worldwide is either a daunting introduction, or an absolutely brilliant one.
I'm less keen on the "everybody plays his archetype" idea. I would love to run a PbP for one or two of the R4 encounters. After that, I thought I'd try one of the Paizo adventures - I'm leaning towards the Reign of Winter AP, but I'm sure I can easily be persuaded to opt for pretty much anything else. If we choose an AP, I make no guarantees about sticking to the source material over time.
Who's in? Also, since there's 31 of you, anybody else want to step up as GM as well? :D
Quote: I'm less keen on the "everybody plays his archetype" idea. Yeah, that would be hard... Some of them are more suited to some environments and types of campaigns.
I'd love to play in a PbP of Reign of Winter. As for "playing the archetype", I could give or take it. I've got a huge stack of PC concepts I haven't used, and I think the huckster would settle towards the bottom of that list.
FWIW, my impression of the first part of Reign of Winter (by a former Superstar, so nice synergy there) seems like it'd be a good adventure to get your feet wet in PBP play. I just started running it last night.
I will gladly play my archetype or any other idea that seems fitging. I'd like to play her just to ensure that she's as playable ourside her turf as inside it.
Contrariwise, neither do I object to anybody playing their own archetype... Though I'll need to reserve the right to iron out any gross imbalances that may emerge :P
I've never done a play by post before but, with that proviso, I'd like to join in.

I'd be up for PbP and, especially thinking about this adventure path, I've got some other ideas I might prefer over my archetype.
Although...
Less than 12 hours to go. It's somehow appropriate that the results are revealed at the stroke of midnight here, makes it more dramatic. :)
AAAAAAHHHHH good luck everyone!!!
