Kickstarter Aftermath: What Happens Now

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped us go over the top and reach our funding goal. It was without a doubt one of the craziest, happiest days of my life.

Now comes the real work. :)

Over the next several days and weeks we'll be communicating with everyone about how we'll be moving forward. I wanted to give some early visibility to everyone at this time so you have some sense of what to expect.

The Technology Demo Fulfillment

Almost everything we need to ship the Rewards for Kickstarter 1 are in the warehouse. The only things that are left for us to do are manufacturer, sign and stamp the Founder Certificates, and we are waiting for the T-Shirts to arrive from the manufacturer. I don't want to give a hard ETA on when the Rewards will be shipped but we're going to try really hard to get it done before the end of January.

PDFs for Existing Products

A lot of folks have chosen a Reward in Kickstarter 2 that link to a PDF of a book that is already in Paizo's system. We want to make those available as fast as possible. To make that happen, I have to talk about...

The Fulfillment System

Those of you who backed Kickstarter 1 have already seen the Fulfillment System. This is a web application developed by Paizo that allows you to select from various options related to your Reward and provide us with key info like your shipping address.

It is via this system that we identify you as someone who should receive a PDF, and make the PDF available for download through Paizo's PDF management tool.

The way you get access to the Fulfillment system is to create a paizo.com account and link it to your Kickstarter account. To make that happen, I have to talk about...

The Kickstarter Survey

We can only send the Survey once. So before we send it we have to make sure that we have figured out all the questions we need to ask you. Since we're doing a lot of processing on our own system, this is easier for us than it is for many Kickstarters.

The most important piece of information we're going to ask you for is your email address. Without this vital piece of data we cannot do all the magic we need to do to fulfill your Reward.

If you respond to the survey with the same email that you used to set up your paizo.com account, we will automatically match you up and you won't have to do anything.

If you do not have a paizo.com account when you complete the survey, or you give us a different email address than the one you use for your paizo.com account, you will have to take extra steps.

On paizo.com there will be a way for you to connect your paizo.com account to your Kickstarter information. You'll have to do that before we can do anything else with your Rewards.

Putting It All Together

First, you set up a paizo.com account. Do that now. It's free.

Second, when you get the Backer Survey from us (you will do the survey on Kickstarter.com), complete it and transmit it. Use the same email you used on paizo.com to speed up the process for yourself.

Third, after we get your Survey results from Kickstarter, we'll add your information to the Fulfillment Tool. We'll notify you via email that your information has been processed.

Fourth, using a link we provide, you'll access the Fulfillment Tool to configure the options of your Reward, like Add-Ons.

Either at Step 3 or Step 4, we'll populate your Download queue with the PDFs you've earned. We haven't determined if we do that automatically or if you have to access the Fulfillment Tool first. We'll get that figured out this week.

How will this work for those of us who are merely the "buddy" of someone? Will the pledge-maker have a question in the survey to fill in to link us to the deals, either by email or by paizo account (or both)?

Great job.. Keep it up

Random question. During the kickstarter survey for those at the buddy and guild levels, will we be able to provide more than one email address for our buddy/guildmates?

Dark Archive Goblin Squad Member

How will it be handled for the guild pledges? seeing as that is 6 accounts then.

No. Thank YOU for putting your fortune and sanity on the line to make the game we're all so anxious to play. I hope this Kickstarter's success Monday took some of the sting off of the 'Hawks loss Sunday.

Thanks for the info Ryan.

Do you have any idea of rough timeframes (e.g. weeks vs months vs quarters vs years) for the various 'types' of deliverables? Something along the lines of;

Survey/Fulfillment process: Weeks
PDFs: Weeks
Goblin squad: Weeks
Miniatures: Months
Game background writeups (e.g. brew, spell, ancestor): Months
Emerald Spire: Quarters
PFO release: Years

The answer may very well just be 'No' at this point, but any info is appreciated. Of course, the PDF trove should keep us busy long enough for the next batch to arrive. :]

No, I'm not going to make estimates at this point. We'll have reasonably good ideas of when things will happen over the next few days and we'll make appropriate announcements as we make those determinations.

I asked this elsewhere but in interest of it being seen. Please consider doing a flip map for the last and therefor odd level of the spire. Having maps for all but one level is kind a bummer. Thank you.

One thing we can say is that we won't get a finalized backer list for Kickstarter for two weeks; nothing significant can happen until then.

For those at the Buddy or Guild level, will there be a way to enter multiple emails and Paizo.com accounts so that the pdf rewards are linked to the correct users?

With the blank map on the back would be great.

Determining the process for how to split up Buddy and Guild Rewards into paizo.com and Pathfinder Online accounts is a high priority for us.

Thanks for the answers Ryan and Vic. Obviously a lot of details to sort out.

Question: I apparently have TWO Paizo forum accounts - one with the same email account as the Kickstarter, and the other (this one) with a different email address. Is there a way to simply delete the other account? It's never been posted with. I could then rename this account with that email address.

Your other account can ( and probably should) ask customer service to shut it down- either a thread in the top forum on the site or the email/phone below.

If you want to keep your Chiassa account tied to the email it is presently, however, that's fine. The Kickstarter query will ask for an email address, you add the one tied to Chiassa, et voila, everything works fine. It doesn't care that your Kickstarter account is tied to a different address.

Posting in the customer service are of this forum has always worked for me, so I would suggest you to go and post there, or send them an email.

So I have a forum account here, (which I am posting with of course!) is that a paizo.com account? Or is that something different?

Cheers,

Daniel.

Congratulations! Honestly, I had my doubts about the second Kickstarter, so I was quite surprised to see the end result. Being a poor student and lacking a credit card, I couldn't really pledge, so I'm grateful for every single penny everyone else pledged. I will spread the word like I've been doing since the announcement of the game. I'm excited to see how things will work out. And I'm looking forward to playing PFO.

Goblin Squad Member

@DeciusBrutus, cheers. :-)

Thank you for the info Ryan, keep up the good work!

I found out about this project less than an hour before the Kickstarter deadline. I chipped in and am hoping everything turns out great!

Do you have a date for when the survey goes out? I haven't gotten one, and I can't tell if that's normal or not.

Thanks.

Another Question:

How long do you have to return the survey ?

It will be exceptionally annoying, for example, to get the survey in the one fortnight you have absolutely no spare cash and have only 5 days to return it.

Scarab Sages Goblinworks Executive Founder

@rhraus2 They haven't estimated a time for delivery. My personal estimate is sometime between a week and two weeks from today.

@Neadenil Edam Ryan already noted that upping your pledge isn't part of the survey that is simply a mechanism to gather pertinent info to link your KS account to a Paizo account. The pledge changing etc sound like it will be done via Paizo account.

Liberty's Edge Goblin Squad Member

Based on what Vic said above, they won't get the list of backers from Kickstarter for another week. Ergo, the survey will be some time after that.
