If you are impersonating a particular individual, those who know what that person looks like get a bonus on their Perception checks according to the table below. Furthermore, they are automatically considered to be suspicious of you, so opposed checks are always called for.
Bonus for Close Friends: is +8
Bonus for Intimacy is: +10

Intimacy =/= sex. There's emotional intimacy as well, which isn't based on physical...exploration.
If the party are really close in a "friends for life" kind of way, they're intimately familiar with their friends' appearances.

Perhaps, though I challenge you to confront your real life friends with such a statement. It'll come off a touch more awkward than you think.
Asides I'm referring to character optimization ie, we need this bonus from day one to properly counter the shape-shifter menace. I guess what I'm really saying is that if you care about party safety... Well then you just might have to do the nasty with your porter.

Well, I can see the line between Close Friends and Intimacy varying by GM interpretation.
Just to be on the safe side and prevent such possible arguments, I think everyone knows what should be done here.

This is also an argument for Shapeshifters having sex with each other, so they recognise each other in their hidden forms, and thus avoid unfortunate incidents like this (page linked to is SFW, most of the rest of the webcomic is very much NSFW).

On a more serious note, I think any group of PC's would qualify for it anyways. Facing life and death together, traveling as a tight group for weeks or months. People like that, just like in RL combat units become closer than family and form life long bounds. It may be a different kind of intimacy but it is still a type of emotional intimacy.

If you've been with a group of folks fighting together for your lives... it would be remarkable for your relationship not to be described as "intimate".
