I pledged $175 on day one of the Kickstarter and have been confident my wife and I were both getting into the first month of Early Enrollment. I just changed my pledge today to add another $200 so we could both get an additional year of game time.
There are some very troubling comments in the Kickstarter that suggest I might have lost my place in line and not get into the first month of Early Enrollment because of this.
I don't believe for one second that you would allow this to happen. Can you please clarify, again, that all Early Enrollment access will be determined based on the date of our first pledge, regardless of whether we simply add on more money or whether we change from, for example, a Pioneer to a Guild pledge? (With the understanding that if we zero out our pledge we might lose our place in line.)

For the record, these are the posts that I believe need to be corrected, and in a very clear and firm way.
From Ideas for Add-ons:
Nihimon wrote:Jahrael wrote:The problem with additional tiers is that those of us that got in early would lose our place in the beta line when we switch tiers. You won't lose your place in line; they've made that very clear. The only way you might lose your place in line is if you zero out your pledge. Most recently in KS comments:

@Tempest Games - your Enrollment date will be fixed as of the last change you make to your Reward level before the Kickstarter ends. Moving from a Pioneer to a Buddy or Guild could delay your entrance because the first month of both tiers are now filled. The reason is that these packages are designed to let people play together, and we don't want to put someone in the queue who came in at the end in place of someone who pledged earlier.
From Ideas for Add-ons:
Nihimon wrote:It was wrong because the buddy tier first month is not yet filled. Once it is full, you can not change from first month pioneer to buddy tier with out losing your place is what I understand from the horse's mouth.Again, from the Comments on the Kickstarter page:

Gah - disregard the part of that message that says "Moving from a Pioneer to a Buddy or Guild could delay your entrance because the first month of both tiers are now filled.". It's wrong.

I agree there needs to be a concrete and very visible statement from GW on the KS site relating to changing pledge reward levels.
In your case though, you won't lose your place, as you're not changing your pledge reward level but rather including an add-on.
----
From the KS site under the Add-on section:
To use Add-Ons, increase the total amount of your pledge by the specified sum. Leave your Reward selection unchanged. In the post-Project Kickstarter Backer Survey process you'll be able to tell us how you want to allocate the Add-On pledge money!
----
Thus, you're staying in the same pledge reward level and will receive appropriate rewards for that PLUS your add-on rewards determined post the KS process.

You will not lose your place. Kickstarter will send Goblinworks a transaction log and your placement is based on your initial backer date, not subsequent changes.
See this post by Lisa.
Also, I had the following exchange with GW on the kickstarter page.
Given that admission to the early access is based on when you backed the kickstarter, will modifying my pledge to add the print pack cost me my early spot in the queue? I really want the pack, but I was among the first 40 people to back the kickstarter and don't want to delay getting the game.
No, increasing your pledge amount has no affect on your priority standing.

If I am understanding correctly: someone going from Guild to Pioneer today, even if they pledged on day 1, would lose their spot in month one of early enrollment?
Edit: I figured out my confusion, 'lower tier' is anything lower than Buddy because Pioneer is already past the 2000 first month entry while Buddy and Guild are not.

@All: for clarity
The only thing that changes your Early Enrollment date is changing a lower tier pledge to Buddy or Guild or from Buddy or Guiild to a lower pledge level.
Add-Ons have no effect on your Early Enrollment induction date.
alright so it is a definite on changing my pledge from $175 to $100 I am missing out on the first month. and with this being a time based system like eve I will forever be behind everyone else as far as power level goes. really not liking the sound of that as i have no choice but to lower my pledge back to 100 from the 175 I changed to a few weeks ago after my girl friend expressed interest in getting the game. should have just stuck with the original 100 level back when I was guaranteed month one access back when there was only 500 pledges for it.
thanks for clearing that up, really feel like i got penalized for upping my pledge and having unforeseen bills pop up to force me to drop it back down. not saying GW is screwing me or anything, just saying it kinda sucks, should solely be based on your initial pledge date for those early enrollment levels, but i understand why its not. i guess i will just be hoping there is a way to earn that month of lost training time in game somehow or through the cash shop.

@All, especially @Jahrael and @Ryan, I apologize for overreacting after misunderstanding a post.
The only thing that changes your Early Enrollment date is changing a lower tier pledge to Buddy or Guild or from Buddy or Guiild to a lower pledge level.
I believe this is absolutely the right way to handle things. If I had pledged at the Crowdforger Guild level and saw that I just barely made it into the first month, I would be extremely upset if later I was no longer in the first month because someone who had pledged earlier than I at the Crowdforger Pioneer level changed their pledge to the Crowdforger Guild level and bumped me out of position.
Again, sorry. I misunderstood what was being said, and overreacted.

Er, Darsch, you should still be in the first month, if you're within the first 500 Buddy level backers.
From the Kickstarter:
The first 2,000 Crowdforger Pioneer backers will get an invite into the first month of the Early Enrollment Beta period. Then the next 2,000 will be invited in month two. The third 2,000 in month three and so on, until we have all 18,000 slots filled. The same goes for the 500 slots for the Crowdforger Buddy level and the 200 slots for the Crowdforger Guild level.
Unless it's changed since then, Piorneer, Buddy, and Guild use different slots for determining when you get into EE, and it's how soon you sign up for THAT tier that determines when you get in. Could be wrong though.

I am but i have to move back to the 100 dollar level pioneer which means i lost my spot x.x
i orignaly signed up for pioneer, had only 500 pledges counting me when i signed up, changed my pledge to the buddy level because my girl got interested and we had the extra money, and now i have to move back down to the pioneer level...and lose my print pack for the same reason i had to lower the pledge ...i hope the print pack is featured in the goblin squad store when it goes live.

Darsch wrote:with this being a time based system like eve I will forever be behind everyone else as far as power level goes.everyone else??
like no-one else joins the game after the third month?
It takes 5 years to "level 20" so how much power are you loosing out on in 2 months?
depends, at 2 years in another paladin with the same exact set up and gear as me theoretically is more powerful then me as the skill training is the main determining factor combined with the achievements/milestone/badges, what ever you want to call them. so yes they would most likely be a good bit more powerful then me. I never said no one would join after me, I was originally in the first month, when i said everyone else i was referencing the people in the first month at the same time I pledged.
it really is kind of a big deal. Sorry if someone pledging during the last shots getting in before me when I pledged during the opening salvo at the same pledge level before increasing said pledge then having to decrease it back to its original level does not sit well with me since i will be missing out one the first month of game play with my guild and my peers, i wont have as well of an educated opinion for crowd forging votes i wont be able to give adequate feedback on anything during that first month because i will not be able to see it. granted anything could happen rendering my argument moot, i could be long dead before early enrollment begins due to some random act of nature, 500 people could change their pledges to a higher tier opening up slots at the 100 dollar level for the first month access. yes I will still have an edge over people who don't come in until open enrollment. sure all the first month people could take a month off and not train thus letting me catch up.

I suspect at the top end of skill training, some of the skills will take a rather long time (~1 week) to complete. I wouldn't be too worried about other characters getting too far ahead of you if we're only talking one month of training.
That's more like mid-range skills in EVE. The very top end skills take as long as 2 months or more to cap. E.g. For me to get from Fleet Command 4 to Fleet Command 5 it will only take 50 days, 4 hours, 15 minutes, and 27 seconds. There are even skills that take longer.

Drat! I thought PFO was going to be a role playing environment, seems we going to be bothered by power levellers trying to out do each other.
Someone pledged a considerable amount of money to get into the first month of beta.
Due to some unforseen financial issues, some technical mumbo jumbo and a lack of clarity in a timely fashion on something that should have been a clearly laid out before the first pledge was taken they will now lose that position.
They are unhappy about that and feel they are being punished for wanting to pledge MORE money theh they can now afford at some point during the kickstarter.
I see that as a legitimate complaint, not something to be snarky about DarkOne.

Though he was a bit sarcastic in the matter, I'm of the same mind as DarkOne. I'm in the first month, but even if I joined the game, I'm not playing it to be the strongest in any given field. I've already decided once Open Enrollment begins, I'm going to try to have "goody baskets" saved up, ready for new players who do a chore for me. I'll be a veritable quest giver!
I think that would be awesome to see, and it can only really be created by having varying levels of power.

you obviously never played PnP with my gaming group, we are all power gamers, we squeeze out every single advantage we can in our optimized builds. while maintaining damn good role play.
Summersnow hit the nail on the head.

You should talk to "Hobs the Short", a member of The Empyrean Order, as that's exactly the sort of thing he's done in other games and plans to do in PFO.
