2 for 2! Now the entire fandom will be subject to my wild speculations about duergar culture! Except the part about friendly orcs, I guess, because that got hashed out just a week too late in the "non-evil orcs" thread.
Two notes for Tim:
1) I'm mostly a graphic designer, and thus have no portfolio of works that would apply to submitting art for Wayfinder. Thus, I'm hashing out a couple of character portraits from my group's ongoing Skull and Shackles campaign to more accurately reflect the artistic skills that are relevant to Wayfinder. Expect some samples very soon in lieu of an organized portfolio or deviantart page.
2) Is there any way you could give us an article listing/the number of final articles of each category? This one is purely curiosity.
Thanks!

My monster got accepted! Pumped about that. I hope to illustrate it too.
Timitus, I sent you some samples of my art. Please let me know if you want me to do the illustration and if you have some direction of what it should look like when you get a chance. Thanks to you and the whole Wayfinder staff.

Got my confirmation email a couple of days back, too!
4 out of 7; an item, a bloodline, a monster and a WoW coming your way.
Are we free to post the rejected material here on these boards (maybe not in this thread to keep it clean); creating a new thread à la "[Community Project] Wayfinder #9 Rejected Submissions"--or would that be too similar to the "Call for Submissions" thread?
Ruyan.

So I'm revising my short fiction according to the editor's advice... it will took a few days^^
It is so worth the effort and time - that feeling you get when you see your name and your article in the magazine is quite amazing :)

Maybe just post it in the Homebrew section with a more positive title focusing on what it is. I don't know about you, but a thread title telling me that these items were rejected from publication doesn't make me eager to read them. First impressions are important.

"Too Hot For Wayfinder"?
@Bardess: srsly, it's a tricky balancing act trying to narrow down what to keep or how to reconfigure parts you feel you need.

I somehow knew, I'd get something like that as response... but you're right of course.
Whatever the title of said thread would be, what I had in mind is something similar to what I saw (I think, it's been a while) in the RPG Superstar section where you could post e. g. an item and get critique by other forum members. I'll check out the Homebrew section--thanks, Shadowborn.Ruyan.

Well, it's possible there are still notifications coming. I wouldn't worry too much about it yet.
I've been in two Wayfinders - one I didn't hear anything from an editor at all, and didn't know what had happened to my submission until it showed up in the Table of Contents that Tim posted for #7. The other took about a month after the deadline for me to hear from an editor.
Edit: I still haven't heard anything about my WaW submission for this issue, so I have no idea what the timeline is.

A little update for everyone:
We have chosen the submissions for the issue, and Paris has assigned those to our editors. Those edits have come back in, and our 2nd round of edits have gone out. Paris has handled all those, while I've been assigning artists to illustrate each article. Those art assignments are now out as well.
Paris did send out acceptance letters to everyone who had their submission accepted. While we would LIKE to send everyone who didn't make it a letter, that is fairly time-consuming, and would take us away from our work on the issue, which is substantial right now.
If you haven't gotten an acceptance letter from us, then it is pretty safe to assume that your submission was not chosen. Now, it could have been rejected (18 on that list), or it could be sitting in reserve (12 in that list).
The distinction between those two categories?
Rejected = did not meet our guidelines, or the submission had problems
In Reserve = an acceptable submission, but generally weaker than other entries. Being held in case one of the accepted articles must be dropped, or if we find out we have additional page space to use more content, but these will need fixing of some issues.
If you would like to know why we didn't select your submission, then please email us. We will respond as best we can. But, please, please, please, do not take it personally. When we get 75 submissions, but can only have 45, there have to be rejections. Plain and simple.
We will be moving on to layout work soon, and starting on the PDF extra content, which will be three Beginner Box mini-adventures, and some bestiary conversions for mini-BB bestiary. And maybe a couple other things....

If you choose to go ahead and take your unaccepted submission back and do something else with it...of course. It is yours.
Also, I will reiterate....do not take the selection or editing processes personally. If you do, it takes the whole thing to a different place...a personal place. Some real damage can be done there, so keep it professional.

To help alleviate the work load of the editors, etc, here is an offer...
If you would like a Template Fu review of any item that wasn't accepted, PM me them - I have almost finished typing up my review for a 3PP on their product and am then at a loose end for a week or two.
(I'm actually working on a personal project, but generating 150+ cards for a card game needs the occasional break :P)
p.p.s - It may be a day or two before I respond as I might get a few :D

Caleb's just looking for an outlet to publish those pictures someone took of him a while back.

Yep. If it is public it can't be used as blackmail.
Also, I have to put a certain undead tentacle monster somewhere.

Coulrophobia derail aside for a bit(I am so so sorry), I just want to say that the interaction with editors and artists is really fun.
I can now honestly claim that standing in a room constantly messing around with my arm and taking measurements of non-existant anatomy for almost half an hour was productive. Thank you for that experience, Wayfinder. :)

Are all of the article writers going to be in touch with artists as well as editors? This is my first time on the Wayfinder roller-coaster, so I'm excitedly waving my arms like a bit of a loon. I know the Prestige class entries typically got an "iconic" art, and wasn't sure if there was any author input on appearance or not.

Typically, I leave it up to the artist to interpret the article's art. I give direction as to the scene, item, etc. I see in my mind when I read the article, but after that, it's all up to the artist. Some artists do like to ask questions for clarity, and it's great when they can by emailing the author.
But don't feel bad if you don't hear from the artist. It's good if you wrote something that was clear and understandable to the artist (and me!)
