Kickstarter $10,000 Pledge Level: Art Lover

I just got the message that they've added the Crowdforger Art Lover level at $10,000 to the Kickstarter page. Limited to 3. I really, really want this. Can anyone loan me the money? ^_^ It's a really cool idea for those who can afford it.

I think its an awesome idea. I have met alot of players who wish they could have their characters painted by Paizo artists. So will be interesting to see if there is someone out there who will get this and have their character turned into a mini. Which will eventually be in homes all over north america, if not the world.

Lucky I bought lottery tickets.

I used to be the highest pledge level.

Well one thing that tells us about the yet-to-be-established Goblinworks forums: they won't let you use custom made avatars. But I suppose that's a good thing as it will head off any porn gif avatars.

A grand I'm willing to throw at it, 10 grand I don't have, although that would be fun.

Nobody knows what form Goblinworks own forums will take, so don't read anything into that other than what it says: you'll be able to use that image. (Assuming the forums haven't moved by the time the image is ready, you'll be able to use it here, too.)

If I had that much money to spare, I'd probably have a lot more time for playing games.

maybe if I win the lottery at the end of the year...

Oh man. I actually really want that. Pity its well over what I could *ever* dream of paying. Ahh well. Best of wishes to the people who can get that done! Can't wait to see the results.

I was under the impression it would be a limited run mini only available to the people that paid the $10,000. As much as i would love the art lover reward level, no way i would pay that kind of money for it lol. now if I was filthy rich I would do it in a heart beat. I wonder if all three will actually get snagged up or if we will see no one -pledge the 10K Going to be interesting to see what happens. Kinda makes me think goblin works is worried this second kick starter wont reach the million dollar goal with all these new rewards they keep adding.

Well I am going to go ahead and say congrats to anyone fortunate enough to get the art lover pledge.

When you already have the design and molds, the added cost of going full scale seems small. Also, the minis will be for important heroes in PFO/Golarion lore. Brilliant win-win situation if it works.

I'm sure GW are nervous about their ambitious goal. But the strategy of adding rewards along the line is just good marketing and not a frantic backup plan.

My concern, as posted on the latest update on the Kickstarter, is that 10K is double the highest tier reward on the Tech Demo Kickstarter, and only one person went for that. My worry is that, especially for something that at least appears to the uninitiated as niche, there really is not much by way of dragging people into the game.

Of course, I know they've got other ideas up their sleeves, and we've got just over a month to pull this off. But I think that something that has a more broad interest at the lower levels might be wise. The vast bulk of funding on the previous Kickstarter was generated at the $15, $50 and $100 tiers. At the moment, the $100 tier is carrying a large amount of the weight, whereas the $35 tier just isn't generating that much interest in comparison.

Even then, the numbers as they are, we have to generate an awful lot more people joining this Kickstarter and a multitude of tiers to pull this off.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

We want to have a lot of opportunities for news, especially prior to the holiday. We have several more rewards to add in the coming days, with levels ranging from a few dollars to a few thousand.

Awesome to hear Vic, you have gotten my attention.

I am definitely looking forward to the new levels! Especially if you added a lower "Art Appreciator" level where you'd get a portrait of just the head of your character (and forum avatar) without the rest of the amazing benefits of the $10,000 level.

Yay! Please consider the $20 tier. :-)

Note Inspire This's sensible modification.

Ahh okay, thanks for pointing that out vic I misread that.

Curiosity question.
The Race + Class combo for Art Lover needs to be in the Core book,
but do the arms and armor also need to come from there?

I'm probably one of the only persons in the world that wouldn't want the prizes that comes with this pledge level if they were given me as a gift.

Don't get me wrong, it's great stuff. The painting is great and all but... I'm very jelous about my characters, they are mine characters, I don't want every person that buys miniatures in the future to have it. Is mine, all mine, my Precious.
No seriously I would either make a random character that I wold not be willing to play anyway or refuse the miniature part of the bargain.

well, I guess it doesn't matter since there is no way I will get my hands on 10000$

Goblinworks Executive Founder

I would so do it but the kickstarter is to short notice in addition to being smack in the middle of the holiday season. If this ended in like early to mid February i could pledge it.

Yes I'd agree that you are 1 of very few if not the only person in the world who wouldn't want this. Your character immortalized as a miniature and in an online game, that's awesome!

If that's true, then how does a potential backer know whether or not that part of the reward you listed matters at all? And why did you bother saying they would be able to use it as their avatar if you don't know whether that will be a given for everyone else?

And how is it going to be a "unique avatar" if everyone else can just right click>copy image location, and then use it as well?

CEO, Goblinworks

@Scarletrose - we'd be more than happy to work with any $10,000 Crowdforger Art Lover to keep their character out of the game and accessory products. If someone was worried about that aspect of the Reward we can be very flexible, just ask.

Here's the deal. The goblinworks forums are currently hosted on paizo.com, and at some point in the future, it seems very likely that Goblinworks will take them over and move them somewhere else. Assuming that they haven't been moved by the time the painting is ready, you'll be able to use the painting as your avatar image here on paizo.com, and nobody else will. If they've already moved by then—or if they haven't, when they do move (if they do move)—you'll also be able to use the image there. If they move, will they have their own ability to upload custom avatars? Who knows. If not, this will let you do that.

Could we have put all that in the rewards text? Sure. Would it really help anybody? Doubtful. Would it fundamentally change the stated value proposition of the $10,000 level? No. Is anything we say actually wrong? No. Would all that explanation unnecessarily complicate things? Sure would.

Wayne Reynold's art is so amazing, I'd be happy with just the picture (maybe not so much the miniature, since I don't really do any tabletop games not online).

Though for $10,000... oh well, a man can dream.

Hi vic (or Ryan, maybe?).

I presume at the upper tiers that you'd be flexible if we wanted to pledge for two or more rewards? I'd really rather not create a second kickstarter account but could see myself wanting to "add" a couple of tiers together. If I just overpledged and sent you an explanatory email well ahead of time as to what i thought i was pledging for could we work that sort of thing out?
