Mythic flaw: School Aversion (Conjuration)

Mythic Adventures Playtest General Discussion

According to the text of the mythic flaw School Aversion: "You can't benefit from spells and effects from the selected school."

Does that mean if you take the flaw and choose the conjuration school, you can never be magically healed again?

If so, how is that even close to balanced against something like Dependency: Sunflower seeds?

It does mean that yes.

What school are all the really bad no save or die spells...I'm taking that aversion :)

It's not a total immunity, it's a total immunity to benefits from that. For instance, you can never be affected by Cure Light Wounds, *and* you get a penalty versus Inflict Light Wounds.

Though, the comment on school aversion versus dependency is fair, they're largely on different scales. I have no idea how such a problem might be solved.

Yeah, it's not free immunity. It's immunity to the good things (buffs, healing, etc.) and vulnerability to the bad (saves, damage, etc.).

Yeah school aversion is way harder than a weakness against siege weapons.

My portable ram brigade tends to differ.

Except that Inflict spells are necromancy, not conjuration.

Actually only the siege engine ram (10 man crew) seems to be on the list of siege weapons, the portable ram just gives a bonus to oben doors, it doesn't have a listed damage^^.

But of course I wouldn't chose this mythic flaw for my characters, not when my character can be dependant on tea, coffe or the "contact" with others ^^

Scarab Sages

I took a dependency on drinking blood. Tea just seemed boring.

Fiend's Mouth Cannon traps, then.

Well, I just liked the idea to to make my character really really addicted to caffeine. Drinking blood is cool to, but as a DM I would add, that you couldn't drink your own^^

I am really not sold on the whole mythic flaw idea, it is rather circumstantial.

For my mythic test(on hold) the dhampir took that too along with the blood drinker feats... Since he didn't want to be evil he had to persuade people into giving him the blood to drink. Was very interesting.

How.... just how.... do you start that kind of conversation? Does it come up at supper? The monk is ordering rice, the dwarf a cask of beer and you inquire about biting the maids... that or ordering your steak very bloddy^^.
