Ok, so i have a player who is playing rogue3/transmuter3/ Arcane trickster X. There is some doubts:
1. Do the spellcaster in PrC gain bonus two spells like wizard or not?It is not clear for me.
2. Do the rog3/trans3/ArcTrick 3 have a spells like 6th level transmuter? With extra slot to transmutation spell
3. Do Arcane Trickster gain acces to transmuter ability "Change Shape" at spellcaster level 8? Why/why not

- No. The bonus spells come from Wizard levels. Arcane Trickster has no such provision, and so you do not get those free spells in your spellbook.
- Yes. Levels in Arcane Trickster add to your "spells per day" as if they were levels in Transmuter. You get the same number of spell slots as a 6th level Transmuter.
- No. The "Change Shape" ability is tied to your levels as a Transmuter, not to your spellcaster levels. You'll be a 3rd level Transmuter, and do not qualify for the 8th level boon.

everything VRMH says is true EXCEPT his answer to 2 isn't quite correct. Extra spell slots that a transmuter gets from his specialty is part of his class, so he would only get the bonus spells for level 1 and 2 (which are spellcasting levels from transmuter) the next 3 levels he just gets what a base wizard would get (which does not include bonus spells).

I disagree it states taht the Pc gains slots like a transmuter, he should gaine the extra spell per day.

he does not gain slots as a transmuter, he gains slots as a wizard, that is not the same.
"When a new arcane trickster level is gained, the character gains new spells per day as if she had also gained a level in a spellcasting class she belonged to before adding the prestige class."
if he would not take the level in AT but in wizards (tnrasmuter) he would gain that extra slot and the text says he would gain the same spell per days as if the level were in the spellcasting class.

Prestige Classes and Spellcasters: Does a wizard (or other character that uses a spellbook), receive bonus spells to add to his spellbook when he gains a level in a prestige class that grants an increase to spellcasting?
No. The increase to his spellcasting level does not grant any other benefits, except for spells per day, spells known (for spontaneous casters), and an increase to his overall caster level. He must spend time and gold to add new spells to his spellbook.
spells per day. that's it. not the bonus spells for specialization, it would say that otherwise. those items are all you get.
arcane school is a class feature for wizards, when you go into arcane trickster, you are no longer taking levels in wizard anymore. (note this also means you have no opposition schools for levels you take in arcane trickster too)
