Ok about to start kingmaker 25 point buy with 7 characters(the DM is ramping up accordingly) so far
2 handed paladin of abadar
sword and shield two weapon fighter
1/2 orc cavalier
goblin alchemist
archer ranger
plus one other person that doesn't know what she's playing
I know I probably want to play a dwarf. I don't want to play GOD wizard or a support cleric. My ideas so far
stonelord paladin
battle cleric
dwarven bard? does that suck to much? arcane duelist probably
fighter/rogue
specialty wizard NOT a conjurer(burned out)
hexblade magus
spellslinger
gunslinger
I already know the personality. He's not your typical dwarf he's flashy dresses well and is very cosmopolitan very sarcastic with a bent for messing with clockwork and fine forging.
AS you can see I'm all over the place I know we should have a full spellcaster, but with a party this large in kingmaker how bad would it be if we didn't? Any ideas appreciated. Thanks

Bard is the best option for the size of group you have. As for dwarf it's something I have played before. Just need to under stand that you will probably not be the best bard out there.
Ill leave you with this.
Assimars
•Bard Choose one bardic performance; treat the bard as +1/2 level higher when determining the effects of that performance.
(Full favord class bonus to Inspire Courage.)
level +To hit, damage, and save vs. fear
1 +1
4 +2
8 +3
12 +4
Past this it depends on how the DM rules on RAW vs. RAI.
15 +5
20 +6

I'd say play whatever you want to play.
That said, in our campaign we had some issues when we lost both our cleric and wizard. Healing was covered by the paladin and some wand users (though we missed the huge healing the Heal spell provides), but the loss of the amazing utility provided by the wizard was harder to cope with. He didn't do a lot of blasting but had a very extensive spellbook and lots of scrolls and wands.

I think a void elemental dwarf wizard would be hilarious. You would get a bonus to saves via dwarf and void element specialization. If you really want to there is also a trait that adds another +1 to the dwarf bonus and a feat that adds +2 to it on top of that. Looking at a +7 vs spells at 1st level is pretty entertaining.

I am running 2 Kingmaker games, and playing in another. My best advice is this:
YOU NEED A DEDICATED ARCANE SPELLCASTER
:)
Naaa, you don't. A melee party and all stealth party can also work quite well, from my experience with excellent kingmaker games.
Also if you want to cover a lot of distance, push on and get rid of threats quickly, wizards can sometimes be too soft and not capable of making fort checks. They want to stop, rest and recuperate spells, but problems grow larger in kingmaker if you take too much time.

If you really don't want to be an arcane caster - then go with divine caster: battle oracle, cleric or druid. Just refuse to be the healbot - if people want magic vestment make them buy you a pearl of power/runestone. People want healing - buy a wanf of cure light wounds. people want in combat healing? Ask them to get out of the way while you take out the BBEG - and take out the wand of cure light wounds afterwards.
The Divine spell list don't have all the nice utility spells the arcane spell list have - but there is still alot of lifesaves.
And with a party like that casting bless could be worth and action in combat.

one thing about kingmaker: you have a lot of downtime. Arcane caster with item creation will doe you a lot of good.
As far as the kind of arcane caster you play, that's up to you.
Our kingmaker party has a dwarven wizard (universalist) focused on item creation and she's the favourite of all other party members
