Weapon Finesse Feat Question

Rules Questions

OK, I think I know the answer here, but wanted some clarification.

With Weapon Finesse, your Dex mod is used in place of Strength mod for attacks, it has no mention of using Dex mod for damage rather than the Strength mod. Soooo, does it only apply to attacks?

Secondly I could not find a feat that allowed you to use Dex mod for melee damage, does such a feat exist?

Yes, Weapon Finesse only swaps DEX for STR for your attack rolls (even applies to melee touch attacks for mages.)

The only methods off the top of my head that lets you swap DEX for STR on damage rolls are the following:

*Gunslingers and their level 5 ability
*the feat Dervish Dance (only applies to a scimitar, and you cannot hold anything else in your other hand.)
*The Agile weapon enhancement.

Correct.

Dervish Dance comes to mind (works only with a single-wielded Scimitar, though)

Liberty's Edge

It is only to attack rolls.

There is a second feat that allows you to have dex to damage if, and only if, you use a scimitar in one hand and nothing in the other. (Dervish Dance)

I think if you're trying to get a generic dex to damage character you're better off using the agile enchantment.

Pathfinder Maps, Starfinder Maps Subscriber

1) If you're referencing manuevers, if the weapon is used for the manuever (Trip, disarm, sunder), DEX can be used instead of strength for that manuever. If you're looking to use DEX instead of other STR checks (like Swim), then no.

2) There is an Agile weapon enchantment that allows a finessable weapon to use DEX for damage instead of Strength.

EDIT: Ninjas! Ninja's everywhere! *runs for his life*

Thanks guys. It is appreciated. I know of Dervish Dance, but doesn't fit for my concept.

I'll explore the Agile Weapon Enchantment.

Liberty's Edge

Mythic version of Weapon Finesse allows you to use DEX on Melee damage rolls.

I imagine folks have been anxiously waiting for this information for the last five years.

there is also the unchained rogue that can let you use your dex to dmg but you must choose what weapon and you can do it 3 time max but normally people only choose one weapon

None of those options existed in 2012, which is where the thread originated. You cannot fault them for mentioning information that was completely accurate at the time they stated it.

If the OP is still playing or planning the same character they were in 2012, I'm sure they will be glad to know.
