"... Back in the day, we had to walk ten miles, uphill, in the burning heat/driving rain/freezing snow just to get to the game shop to play. We then had to roll 3d6 in order to create characters and could only choose a race and class that you qualified for. The DM had total control of the adventure and could kill us or dictate our characters' actions with no saving throw. We were lucky to find a few measly potions or scrolls for clearing a dungeon and had to quest for any magic weapons or armor; half the party would die just to get a +1 longsword. And we liked it!"
