Skinning a Familiar: Seagull

Rules Questions

Would a "hawk" familiar be equivalent in stats for a Seagull?

Looking for a familiar in a "pirate" AP equivalent.

Grand Lodge

I think there is a seagull familiar posted in the Paizo Blog. I would love to see a chicken or mouse familiar.

Just searched for seagull in the blogs, but nothing.

Grand Lodge

Huh, I guess I was wrong. Here are some pirate familiars: Pirate Familiars

Ok...same as the "Osprey"...so yes hawk. Thanks

I'd go with Raven equivalent. A seagull is no bird of prey, even if they are kinda ornery.

Ah the Raven, good point. I'll no longer think of the Seagull as an Osprey, nevermore.

I'd replace the speaking with a bonus to survival: seagulls are excellent scavengers.

From the title, I thought this was going to be a thread about making a hat out of some poor familiar.

And Brambleman for the win! (I was gonna suggest that when I hit the thread, but I see my work here is done).

On a related note I'd love to play a country bumpkin witch with a pig familiar.

Gus (on being asked about a spell): "Well, I dunno. Porky is the brains of this here operation."
Porky: "Squee!"
(translation: The range of the spell is roughly 30 feet although more powerful casters can extend that reach slightly without metamagic. Be careful though, since nearby water will be converted to steam and might obscure your vision.)

Surprised they published a dodo and a dwarf cayman before a seagull lol

1 person marked this as a favorite.

It that because of the pig farmer mini?

Didn't know about the pig farmer mini but that would be a great one to have when I roll up Gus and Porky.

I spent 10 minutes looking for a picture of it. He's carrying the pig under his arm. Its an instant classic. One of our players wants to have a pig familiar some day.

Appropos of not much:

In Anchorage, we have lots of ravens all winter long; when the snow melts, they fly back up into the hills, but we then have flocks and flocks of seagulls.

OR,

when the season changes, the same flock of birds just changes their suits from black to white...

Grand Lodge

Here in Bellevue, we have a massive rabbit infestation. They are not even the delicious variety.

Here he is, in all his porcine glory.

The idea of the pig farmer/wizard is great. He had a couple adventures that did not turn out well, lost his familiar and started a farm. Once he had time to heal he called his new familiar and now hides as the crazy farmer. He helps out in the town but to all outsiders, he is just crazy. At least until the band of hostile monsters show up.
